Does the existence of ancient extraterrestrials affect the religious narrative?

This question(s) is primarily for people of the major world religions:

Assuming in 2019 ancient beings have come to our planet to show their existence and upon their arrival and subsequent meeting, everything we know from a religious/spiritual perspective is different. Suppose that the ancient holy text and apparitions were actual alien influence upon humankind in the alien’s attempt to help mankind develop a moral code let me ask the following:

1) Does this affect your faith in your religion?

2) Do you continue believing in your faith?

Remember consider these beings more ancient and coming from a planet more ancient than earth and more advanced.

I would still value the moral code, and would question the validity of their claims, requiring *proof* that they supplied the original holy texts.

Aye, these aliens are just pompous fools if they think they have The Truth.
They'd just be "Space Missionaries".

If religious faith is based just on a literal interpretation of scriptures, such alien contact may be extremely disconcerting as it violates a lot of beliefs held, and one is at a loss on what to do.

But if it is based on experiential understanding, alien contact would not be much of an issue. Experiential understanding comes with the giving up of belief sets and conditioning.

I would still follow buddhism, no matter what, even socalled Aliens should come.
I have no doubt in the buddhist teaching so yes i would have faith in the teaching

But if their technology was demonstrable to show that the scriptural text and depictions was nothing more than alien technology, wouldn’t that be enough?

But the problem with having Buddhist philosophy is that it’s limited to our experiences here. Meeting beings from another planet which is much older could open up truth more expansive than our own experiences.

I'm afraid I would need evidence, considering that they could be lying. I would need to observe their lifestyle as well, and would expect such an exchange to be complimentary considering the circumstances.

Trust would need to be earned, I'm afraid.

You might find it interesting to know that certain alien contactees have claimed that aliens have stated to them that their alien religion is very similar to Buddhism.

You mean like the Nephilim, Anunnaki or Watchers? That came from Babylonian mythology.

You seem to be assuming a concept of cultural evolution, whether Hegelian or Marxist. Passage of time doesn't make people "more advanced", and nor does technological progress imply moral progress: compare the Roman Empire with the Nazi and Soviet states!

1. No.
2. Yes.

It doesn't necessarily invalidate beliefs in my religion. If aliens wrote the scriptures, what's to say they weren't divinely inspired?

If aliens authored our ancient texts then they can't be that profound or enlightened. We should introduce them to our diseases and then take their technology in retaliation for deceiving and manipulating us and leaving us with crappy, development stunting superstitions. ;)

This will just confim what Baha'u'llah has given from God. Just a matter of time.

The building of the unity of the Human race will show the requirement to be in unity with all creatures, no matter their origin.

That God Messengers are Universal. That every planet has creatures, that there are more creatures like us with the ability to know and love God and that all the worlds of God have their Messengers, is a timely Message suited to this age of universal discoveries.
