Science is a false God

3. If the Bible was uncorrupted, historically and scientifically sound, science would agree God might exist and might have been observable in past history, but presently unobservable.

Were you aware that there are literally thousands upon thousands of ancient Bible manuscripts - in the original Hebrew, Aramaic and Koine - available today in museums the world over? In fact, no other ancient writings are as well attested to as the Bible's. When you compare these manuscripts to modern Bibles it's unmistakable how accurately these render the ancient texts. As such, any fears of tampering or errata are unwarranted.

2. So if God is observable science would agree God exist.

For you to operate from inside your materialistic, non-transcendent worldview and then demand materialistic evidence for the non-material, transcendent God (which invariably exists outside your perceived worldview) is a logically fallacious category error since it requires material evidence of the non-material, non-transcendent proof of the transcendent. It is exactly like asking to have an idea put on a scale or what color a song is. It does not work as they are completely different categories.

As Gödel’s Incompleteness Theorem makes evident, ‘Whatsoever may be bounded cannot explicate itself without referring to that which is without itself - some postulate whose certainty is unobtainable.’

This is just what famed Physicist and Mathematician James Clerk Maxwell alluded to when he came to the conclusion, “Science is incompetent to reason upon the creation of matter itself out of nothing. We have reached the utmost limit of our thinking faculties when we have admitted that because matter cannot be eternal and self-existent, it must have been created.”

4. If God wanted his existence to be undisputed, he would be undeniably observable.

Please list one clear concise indisputable prophecy that has come to pass.

Anything as vague and ambiguous as the following will not be counted.

NOSTRADAMUS QUATRAIN #1-1
Being seated at night in my secret study,
Alone, sitting upon a stool of brass;
A revealing flame shall leap forth from the solitude,
Granting that which is not to be believed in vain.

along the lines

History records that Babylon took the Jews into captivity. Yet, about 40 years before this happened Jeremiah foretold it. Isaiah predicted it some 150 years before it happened. He also foretold that the Jews would return from captivity. So did Jeremiah, saying that they would be restored to their land after 70 years.—Isaiah 39:6, 7; 44:26; Jeremiah 25:8-12; 29:10.

This return was made possible by the overthrow of Babylon by the Medes and Persians in 539 B.C.E. It was foretold by Isaiah nearly 200 years before it happened, and by Jeremiah about 50 years before it occurred. Jeremiah said that the Babylonian soldiers would put up no fight. Both Isaiah and Jeremiah foretold that Babylon’s protecting waters, the river Euphrates, “must be dried up.” Isaiah even gave the name of the conquering Persian general, Cyrus, and said that before him “the gates [of Babylon] will not be shut.”—Jeremiah 50:38; 51:11, 30; Isaiah 13:17-19; 44:27; 45:1.

The Greek historian Herodotus explained that Cyrus actually diverted the flow of the Euphrates and “the river sank to such an extent that the natural bed of the stream became fordable.”Thus, during the night, enemy soldiers marched along the riverbed and entered the city through gates that had been carelessly left open. “Had the Babylonians been apprised of what Cyrus was about,” Herodotus continued, “they would have made fast all the street-gates which [were] upon the river . . . But, as it was, the Persians came upon them by surprise and so took the city.”Actually, the Babylonians were involved in drunken revelry, as the Bible explains, and as Herodotus confirms. (Daniel 5:1-4, 30) Both Isaiah and Jeremiah foretold that Babylon would eventually become uninhabited ruins. And that is what happened. Today Babylon is a desolate heap of mounds.—Isaiah 13:20-22; Jeremiah 51:37, 41-43.

Cyrus also restored the Jews to their homeland. Why would he do such a thing? The Jamieson-Fausset-Brown Bible Commentary explains, "Cyrus, according to Josephus, heard of this prophecy of Isaiah delivered so long before; hence he was induced to do that which was so contrary to Oriental policy, to aid in restoring the captive Jews and rebuilding their temple and city."

Indeed, over two centuries before, Jehovah had foretold of Cyrus: “All that I delight in he will completely carry out.” (Isaiah 44:28) True to prophecy, after 70 years Cyrus returned the captives to their homeland, in 537 B.C.E. (Ezra 1:1-4) An ancient Persian inscription, called the Cyrus Cylinder, has been found that clearly states the policy of Cyrus to return captives to their homelands. “As to the inhabitants of Babylon,” Cyrus is recorded as having said, “I (also) gathered all their (former) inhabitants and returned (to them) their habitations.”

Isaiah made a further startling prediction regarding Babylon:

“She will never be inhabited.” (Isaiah 13:19, 20)

To predict permanent desolation for a sprawling city occupying a strategic location was bold indeed. You would normally expect that such a city would be rebuilt if ruined. Although Babylon lingered on for a while after its conquest, Isaiah’s words eventually came true. Today the site of ancient Babylon “is flat, hot, deserted and dusty,” reports Smithsonian magazine.

It is awesome to contemplate the magnitude of Isaiah’s prophecy. What he foretold would be the equivalent of predicting the exact manner in which a modern city, such as New York or London, would be destroyed 200 years from now and then emphatically stating that it would never again be inhabited.

Now, from a rational, unbiased, objective perspective, how do you explain Isaiah's ability to specifically and accurately predict events hundreds of years in advance?

After all, had Alexander the Great or Saddam Hussein succeeded in rebuilding Babylon then this Bible prophecy would have been proven false and the Bible along with it. Their failures - both under peculiar circumstances - left this prophecy completely intact.

I didn't notice any pointed queries. I won't mention the obtuse ones.

But you really need to have that dyslexia seen to.

One reply. Get all your questions into one reply. Don't make multiple posts when responding, make only one reply. Stop the scattershot, order your thoughts and procedures and put your entire response into one reply.

One reply.

Or did I mention that already?

And I take it , in the absence of that reasoned response I mentioned, that you accept that "murder" is a hopelessly vague notion.

Here you go: Post #214

The Bible is a fount of knowledge.
Leviticus
11:9

“These you may eat, of all that are in the waters. Everything in the waters that has fins and scales, whether in the seas or in the rivers, you may eat.

11:10
But anything in the seas or the rivers that has not fins and scales, of the swarming creatures in the waters and of the living creatures that are in the waters, is detestable to you.

Leviticus 11:7
And the pig, because it parts the hoof and is cloven-footed but does not chew the cud, is unclean to you. You shall not eat any of their flesh, and you shall not touch their carcasses; they are unclean to you.

Morals are subjective, not objective. Morals come from your mind and the laws of the society you live in.

So like a heap of dead leaves blown to and fro by the changing wind, wheresoever the herd impels you establishes for you what’s moral or immoral.

This means, to illustrate, that, had you been in Stalin’s Russia you would have cheerfully gone along with the numerous pogroms as well as the Great Purges. And why wouldn’t you? At that moment, it's precisely what these argued was moral.

With no objective moral values or obligations, you would have had absolutely no objective justifications to not follow along with their moral yardstick - despite the fact that it resulted in murdering men, women and young children simply because of their ethnicity.

In the final analysis when you don’t stand for something you’ll fall for anything.

As Voltaire put it, “Those who can make you believe absurdities, can make you commit atrocities.”

Is that the same god as the Jews or Muslims?

While Muslims do not worship Jehovah God the ancient people of Israel were a nation dedicated to him:

"For I am Jehovah your God,
The Holy One of Israel, your Savior.

“You are my witnesses,”declares Jehovah,“
Yes, my servant whom I have chosen,
So that you may know and have faith in me
And understand that I am the same One.
Before me no God was formed,
And after me there has been none." -Isaiah 43:3, 10

Contemporary Israel, however, “is determined . . . to conquer the desert and make it flourish by the power of science and the pioneering spirit, and to transform the country into a bastion of democracy." (David Ben-Gurion, Former Israeli premier) They are not dedicated to Jehovah God.

One cause of suicide is religiously inspired feelings and actions against homosexuals.

But there are other reasons as well...
Shunning and Suicide in the Jehovah’s Witnesses: Alienation’s Deadly Toll
For one woman in Michigan who had left the Jehovah’s Witnesses, the strain of losing her community was too much, and, struggling under the weight of the shame her abusers had taught her to assume, she drowned the family dog and shot her husband and two adult children, before turning the gun on herself. According to family friends, Lauren Stuart and her husband had left the organization because their children wished to attend college – something the Jehovah’s Witnesses strongly discourage – and she wished to pursue a modeling career. Because she could no longer be a member of the group in good standing, former friends ignored her, looking the other way when seeing her in town, refusing to speak with her or acknowledge her presence. In a small community, such treatment can make life intolerable, and although the Jehovah’s Witnesses have claimed in court that shunning is a “personal choice” and never absolute, their own internal convention videos show a harsh reality, where parents are coached to ignore their own children if they are disfellowshipped.

It is exactly like asking to have an idea put on a scale or what color a song is. It does not work as they are completely different categories.

Why believe in a 'transcendent' at all then? If there is no evidence and can be no evidence, what reason is there to believe in it?

As Gödel’s Incompleteness Theorem makes evident, ‘Whatsoever may be bounded cannot explicate itself without referring to that which is without itself - some postulate whose certainty is unobtainable.’

Are you a first order logical system with a recursively defined axiom system? if not, then Godel's results don't apply. In fact, we know that Godel's results don't apply to *second order* logical systems, let alone non-axiomatic systems like human beings.

Maxwell lived in the middle to late 1800's. We've learned a few things since then. For example, Maxwell didn't know the Einstein equation E=mc^2. He didn't know anything about quantum mechanics. He knew nothing about the internal structure of atoms, nor the various types of subatomic particles.

Do you think that maybe, just maybe, he could have been wrong in his conclusions?

Suicide among LGBT youth - Wikipedia
Research has found that attempted suicide rates and suicidal ideation among lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) youth is significantly higher than among the general population.[1]

How is any of this conclusive evidence for your claim, to wit, "One cause of suicide is religiously inspired feelings and actions against homosexuals."

ratiocinator

Lightly seared on the reality grill.
With no objective moral values or obligations, you would have had absolutely no objective justifications to not follow along with their moral yardstick - despite the fact that it resulted in murdering men, women and young children simply because of their ethnicity.

Just as you would have committed genocide in biblical times? 1 Samuel 15:3

Also, this is not an argument for objective morality, it is an appeal to consequences fallacy.

Arguments about objective morality from the religious are somewhat laughable. Nobody, for example, gets their morality from the bible - it doesn't have a clear moral message. Neither do people who profess to have access to objective morality from religion agree with each other about all moral issues.

Even if there were such a thing, there might as well not be, because nobody has a reliable, repeatable way of accessing it.

As Voltaire put it, “Those who can make you believe absurdities, can make you commit atrocities.”

Matthew 7:5

And evil is an objective moral value.

Your evidence for this statement is missing.

Islam believes in the same god as the Jews.
What is wrong in using science and technology to make the desert aliveable place? Praying to a god doesn't change the desert.

You're not suggesting that, for instance, the genocide of Triads, Nordicists, Zetas, Baasskaps, MS-13s, Jihadists, Mungikis, Bloods, Yakuzas, Bratvas, Nazis and other such evil peoples would be morally wrong, are you?

Nobody, for example, gets their morality from the bible - it doesn't have a clear moral message.

Really? Can you take a moment and prove what’s so unclear about these?

"For “whoever would love life and see good days must guard his tongue from bad and his lips from speaking deception. Let him turn away from what is bad and do what is good; let him seek peace and pursue it." -1 Peter 3:11

“But now you must put them all away from you: wrath, anger, badness, abusive speech, and obscene talk out of your mouth. Do not lie to one another. Accordingly, as God’s chosen ones, holy and loved, clothe yourselves with the tender affections of compassion, kindness, humility, mildness, and patience. Continue putting up with one another and forgiving one another freely even if anyone has a cause for complaint against another. Just as Jehovah freely forgave you, you must also do the same. But besides all these things, clothe yourselves with love, for it is a perfect bond of union.” - Colossians 3:8,9, 12-14.

“Never be anxious about the next day, for the next day will have its own anxieties. Each day has enough of its own troubles.” -Matthew 6:34

““You heard that it was said: ‘You must love your neighbor and hate your enemy. However, I say to you: Continue to love your enemies and to pray for those who persecute you, so that you may prove yourselves sons of your Father who is in the heavens, since he makes his sun rise on both the wicked and the good and makes it rain on both the righteous and the unrighteous. For if you love those loving you, what reward do you have?" (Matthew 5:43-46)

“Even a child is known by his actions, whether his behavior is pure and right.” -Proverbs 20:11
