Sexual self-pleasure ~ a dead end street

I've heard many people brag about the fact that they sexually self-pleasure themselves, and what a healthy life choice this is. But in the long run, doesn't it seem repetative and unfulfilling?

Try for example, setting an entire day aside as a test. Begin in the morning and let it last until the late afternoon just before bedtime, or even into the night, and see how fulfilling this is.

...Then try loving an actual person for a day, taking them out for breakfast, doing nice favors for them and having actual intercourse with that human being. Spend time with that person sharing ideas and thoughts.

Then tell me which is more fulfilling. :)

In the end, you will quickly realize what the human reproductive system is specifically designed for and what is not. Use this in your life, to become a more pure person. Be true to yourself.

only if that is all that a person does sexually.

In most relationships the libido of partners is not perfectly matched. In fact they may vary in both. Sometimes the correct thing to do is to please oneself.

Both are required for fulfillment. Taking time for yourself helps when it is time to be with another person.

Are you suggesting that some sort of balance is helpful between self-pleasure and love filled intercourse?

But if longevity is the goal, then why not just increase the frequency of love making to gain the same effect? Why anyone would be proud to be a lonely lover seems to mean they don't get the love they require to begin with. Maybe better advice would be to increase the love making.

Libidos are not always in sync with partners. if your loved one is not in the mood, why require that they do it anyway?

Why can't you do both?

My response would be, that in a relationship, a couple could discuss the benefits of more or less sex with each other, and act accordingly. Maybe sometimes it's best to suppress the urge, and other times, it's best to submit to a partners urge. In any case, self-pleasure feels empty in most cases. At least it feels empty to me.

Of course you can, but what truly satisfies a person? What makes one feel better about ones self?

Does spending an entire weekend with self-pleasure while the wife is on a business vacation really satisfy?

Has anyone ever tried a 3 day weekend self-pleasure session? It's surely a very lonely, and saddening experience in the end. Is there ever "too much"?

OK, don't do it. Your choice. But it may not be the choice of others. Nobody's business but their own.

It's better than not. But, if you want to have a girlfriend come by, and it's ok with your wife, you can do that instead.

Sure. Many times. Take it for what it is and it works. Take it for what it isn't and it doesn't.

What about those who have no urge for any of the two but still live in a happy relationship?

That's the nice thing about relationships. Everyone gets to make their own choices. If they can find someone that wants the same things, then they can do them together.

Certainly for the male, "self pleasure" if circumstances require it, is most certainly healthy. Research has shown ejaculation at least 21 times a month helps for a healthy prostrate. And i can assure you prostate cancer is no fun for a man.

Also this from Masturbation | Get the Facts About Masturbation Health
Masturbation isn't unhealthy or bad for you at all. Masturbation can actually be good for your health, both mentally and physically. And it's pretty much the safest sex out there — there's no risk of getting pregnant or getting an STD. ... Plenty of research has shown the health benefits of masturbation.

Personally i find mutual pleasure far more fulfilling but it is not always possible so my view is, dont let religurel dogma hey in the way of a healthy life.

Do you really think it is 'taboo' to NOT self-pleasure?? From my experience, the taboo goes the other way.

The times have changed. In my profession a friend of mine said he did not do it, and people literally took a step back and gave him the stink eye, as if there was something wrong with him. I kid you not.

Who spends the entire weekend masturbating?
I think it is you who has the problem, there is no harm in a bit of "self-pleasure"
