Evolution and the Soul

OK, here's an idea. The notion of a 'breath of life' is the result of scientifically uneducated people noticing that dead people don't breathe and concluding that there is something in the breath that gives life. In fact, many old worlds for soul are derived from the words for breath.
Yes this is true... I'm no rocket scientist or even a regular scientist for that matter!:smirk:
Now, we understand that it is the chemical reactivity of oxygen that drives life (at least animal life) and that life is a complicated collection of chemical reactions. In spite of extensive searches, there is no evidence for a 'life force' or a 'breath of life' other than simple chemistry.
Yes this I also understand but I don't think there could ever be any evidence for something such as the soul; unless science manages to successfully kill someone, somehow record the person's experience and then bring that person back to life.

And what evidence do you have to support the claim that souls exist.

I mean, even if it isn't strong enough evidence to remove all doubt, you must surely have something, yes?
My evidence is scripture and the bible......
yes I said it... I know what's coming next:rolleyes:

Let's agree that any valid evidence can be tested.

For example, if you claim that you have evidence that the gravity of the Earth has a particular strength, I can test it for myself. I don't need to just take your word for it.

Please tell me how the Bible can be tested.

Hi guys..I just want to say that I appreciate all the feedback and I also want to apologize to @Bob the Unbeliever and @Tiberius for the comments I made which have now been moderated. I was admittedly agitated by your questions and felt as though I was being drawn into a trap of never-ending debate and ultimately belittling and humiliation and not because I don't have the knowledge to back up my claims and beliefs (this isn't my first rodeo) but because I know the debate would've been fruitless. Not to make excuses but I was pretty tired too:(. Also I have been belittled, humiliated, and insulted on this website in the past (indirectly of course) which probably traumatized me alittle and made me alittle defensive. It's the reason why I stopped visiting and participating in this website for awhile. My aim wasn't to debate whether the soul is real or not. I personally wasn't looking to defend my belief in the soul; I was honestly just trying to see what were the views and perceptions of those who believe in evolution and the soul. I apologize if my OP was misleading in any way. Once again, I'm deeply sorry for offending you guys; I'm actually (usually) very laid back and brush off a lot things that would normally infuriate other ppl. I don't want to give you guys or anyone else on this site any ill impressions of me and I hope you can accept my apology.:peace:

While I can't speak for @Bob the Unbeliever , it was certainly never my intention to agitate or belittle you. All I want is for us to have an intellectually honest conversation about why we believe the things we do. I take the position that if anyone ever has to resort to belittling, insulting, or humiliating the other person in a discussion or debate, then they've immediately lost. A good argument will stand on its own merits. I would never resort to insulting you or making fun of you.

Now, back to the topic we were discussing...

How do we determine if a source is a reliable source?
