Why did God give us physical body if spirit can live?

Can you produce in the bible the book and chapter and verses where that is written that the body of Jesus was both flesh and blood and glorified.

Seeing how it is written in the bible that flesh and blood can not inherit the kingdom of God.

Bible 1st Corinthians 15:50---" Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption"

So how is it that you say after the resurrection Jesus body was both flesh and blood

but seeing that flesh and blood can not inherit the kingdom of God.

So how exactly is this to work ?
I know that this question wasn't addressed to me, so I hope you won't mind my giving my two cents worth. The Bible uses the phrase "flesh and blood" on several occasions. Here are a few of them:

Matthew 16:17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

1 Corinthians 15:50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Hebrews 2:14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

You may need to read these in context to fully understand them, but if you do, you will notice that in every single solitary instance of when "flesh and blood" is used, it is simply a way of saying "mortal man." This is an example of the metonymy, a figure of speech wherein a word or phrase is substituted for another which with it is closely associated. For example: "That stuffed suit with the briefcase is a poor example of a salesman." If someone were to say that, he would not be actually be referring to a "stuffed shirt" but what that "stuffed shirt" represents. Likewise, "flesh and blood doesn't refer specifically to either flesh or blood but to what they represent -- which is fallible human beings, which we all are.

When Jesus appeared to His Apostles shortly after His resurrection, they were afraid because they thought they'd seen a ghost. He pointed out to them that He wasn't a ghost at all, but a corporeal being of flesh and bone. Note: He did not say "flesh and blood" but instead "flesh and bones." In this case He was describing His physical makeup. He could be touched and felt. He could eat and sleep. He was not merely a spirit or ghost. Now this is the only time in the entire Bible where the phrase "flesh and bones" is used. Jesus, as a resurrected being, no longer needed blood to sustain His life. His resurrected body was sustained and made immortal solely by spirit. It was His spirit that would keep Him alive forever more. I don't believe for one minute that He was just pretending to have a body or telling His Apostles something that wasn't 100% true. He meant what He said, which was that He was a being of flesh and bones. He had a physical form and was not merely spirit, but it was He spirit rather than blood that gave Him life. This new body was immortal and perfect. It would no longer be subject to disease or injury or death as a mortal body is.

I hope that may have helped shed some light on the subject.

Nope not at all, since the question was about Jesus body being flesh and blood after his Resurrection.

And then seeing the bible 1 Corinthians 15:50, plainly shows that flesh and blood can not inherit the kingdom of God.

Therefore the body of Jesus was not of flesh and blood.

I've always liked 1 Corinthians 15 analogy of our body to a seed. No one looking at an acorn would imagine the oak tree. And the acorn must 'perish' for the oak tree to be.

I think our understandings of 'physical' and 'spiritual' are just too limited. We see through the glass darkly.

I'm sure you're right. There is just SO much we're incapable of understanding right now. I think that most people assume that "physical" is just another way of saying "mortal" and that "spiritual" is just another way of saying "immortal," when this really isn't the case at all.

Well it is buddhist teaching. But we tend to not dwell on what has been, we try to only live in this moment and not in past or future, so what actually did happen that time is not of importanse now. what is important to a buddhist is how to end suffering and end the reincarnation cycle in to physicl life form.

I believe this is a desire to avoid physical life since all of life involves suffering. It is a risk reward type of thing. Possibility of suffering vs the enjoyment of life.

I believe enduring reincarnation may be a high price to pay for life but I still find it worth it. The reincarnation cycle does end but not by the hands of man but by a act of God. Eternal life is what Jesus is offering.

The difference between Christianity and Buddhism is that Buddhism does not have a God who say deside what will happen, it is up to my self as a buddhist to make the enlightenment happen by following the buddhist teaching and enlighten to it :)
But the God you follow did teach it in a different way thru Jesus,
I think both paths are a good rightroues teaching

I believe this is the confusing verse:
1Cor 15:44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.

There is no such thing as a spiritual body. I believe Paul is just using the expression to reveal that the new body has a different spiritual dimension as well as a new form. The new body and spirit will have no sin.

I would think 'if' there was a ' living mind ' at death then Jesus would Not have taught John 11:11-14 to us.
Both Jesus and the OT teach unconscious sleep ( Not thinking ) in death:
- John 11:11-14; Psalms 6:5; Psalms 13:3; Psalms 115:17; Psalms 146:4; Isaiah 38:18; Ecclesiastes 9:5
A living mind does Not need a resurrection, but the dead do.- Revelation 1:18
Gospel writer Luke informs us 'there is going to be' a resurrection at Acts of the Apostles 24:15.
'is going to be' is future tense, thus showing a future awakening from death's sleep - Daniel 12:2; Daniel 12:13.
Even King David did Not ascend as per Acts of the Apostles 2:34.
Luke also wrote the soul can be destroyed at Acts of the Apostles 3:23.

John 11; 11-14; Jesus likens the death-like coma of Lazarus, to being asleep, where the invisible mind that had developed within, was alive and active. See John 11: 4; where Jesus confirms that the sickness suffered by Lazarus would not result in his death.

And we can be sure that the body of Lazarus, with the terminal skin disease was not dead, as decomposition begins around four minutes after a person dies. The first stage of human decomposition is called autolysis, or self-digestion, and begins immediately after death. As soon as blood circulation and respiration stop, the body has no way of getting oxygen or removing wastes. Excess carbon dioxide causes an acidic environment, causing membranes in cells to rupture. The membranes release enzymes that begin eating the cells from the inside out.

The body of Lazarus was not dead.

Psalms 6: 5; In the world of the dead you are not remembered.

When does a person enter the world of the dead? After the first death, which is that of your body: (Not YOU, but your body). Or when YOU, the invisible mind that can, unlike your flesh and blood, inherit eternity, is divided from the universal soul?,

Psalms 13: 3; “Consider and answer me, my Lord my God; lighten my eyes least I sleep the sleep of death.”

We all must die once, then go off into Judgement. So what part of YOU goes off into judgement? The physical body in which YOU the mind/spirit has developed, which body in death, will have returned to the universal elements from which it was created, or YOU, the living evolving invisible mind, who was the controller and godhead to that body, which was animated by the universal soul that pervade the entire universe?

Do YOU, the mind, remain active while the body sleeps, in which body, YOU are evolving from the information taken in through the senses of that body?

Psalms 115: 17; “The dead do not praise the Lord.”

There are two deaths. The first death is that of the body in which you the living spirit [Which alone can enter the Kingdom of God] are developing, and the second death is when the rejected spirits/minds are separated from the universal animating soul, thereby leaving it lifeless. Only with the second death, is that Life finally extinguished.

Psalms 146: 4; ”When his breath departs he returns to his earth; on that very day his plans perish.”

When the body suffers the first death and is returned to the universal elements from which it was created, the earthly PLANS of the mind/spirit that had developed within that body, died with it.

How can an invisible mind fulfil its earthly plans, without a physical body in which to accomplish those plans?

Isaiah 38: 18; “No one in the world of the dead can praise you, etc.”

Isaiah 57: 1-2; ”Good people die, and no one understands or even cares. But when they (GOOD PEOPLE) die, no calamity can hurt them. Those who live GOOD LIVES find peace and rest in death.”

But you preach that thieves, paedophiles, murderers, etc, etc, also find peace and rest in death. Even though Christ revealed that after those who had led GOOD LIVES had paid the blood price for their inherited sin and any mistakes they may have made in ignorance, were separated from the unrighteous dead and were gathered to the bosom of Abraham, in who was the living evolving spirit of the Anointed one, while those rejected disembodied spirits, who await the final judgement in the terrible mental torment, of their own making, will never find rest.

Ecclesiastes 9: 5; “For the living know that they are going to die, but the dead know nothing.”

In the book of Sirach, R, H, Charles translation chapter 47 verse 17, it is written concerning Solomon, (1)“By thy songs, (2) parables, (3) dark speeches, and (4) SATIRES, thou didst cause astonishment to the peoples etc.”

Four books written by Solomon.

From the book of Ecclesiastes: GNB Catholic Study Edition.

“Eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow we die. I envy those who are dead and gone; they are better off than those who are still alive. But better off than either, are those who have never been born etc. A man may have a hundred children and live a long time, but no matter how long he lives, if he does not get his share of happiness and does not receive a descent burial, then I say that a baby born dead is better off. Man and animal receive the same ultimate reward, total oblivion, from the dust they came and to the dust they shall return. A wise man is no better off than a fool, the reward for doing good is the same as that for doing evil, so don’t be too good or too wise, Why kill yourself?

We are all going to our final resting place, and although life is useless, the conclusion of the matter is, if you live a religious life you may at least experience some in the short span of consciousness that has been allocated to you in this useless life. So go ahead and eat, drink and be merry, drink your wine and be cheerful. It’s all right with God. your life with the woman you love, as long as you live the useless life that God has given you in this world. Enjoy every useless day of it, because that is all that you’ll get for all your troubles. Never again will you take part in anything that happens in the world, because there will be no action, no thought, no knowledge, no wisdom in the world of the dead to where the righteous, the wicked, the wise and the fools, animal and man, are all going. For the living know that they are going to die, but the dead know nothing.”

Solomon’s songs are found in his book, ‘Song of Songs,’ his parables are found in his book of ‘proverbs,’ his dark speeches are in the ‘Wisdom of Solomon,’ and who can read the negative and even depressing words from the book of ‘Ecclesiastes’ without realizing that here is the SATIRICAL work of Solomon, aimed at those who believed in neither life after death, or the resurrection from the dead.

1 Peter 4: 6; “That is why the Good News was preached also to the dead, to those (The disembodied spirits) who had been judged in their physical existence as everyone is judged: It was preached to them (Those righteous disembodied spirits, who were able to hear the Good News) So that in their spiritual existence they may live as God lives.

Those disembodied spirit are the 'fallen angels' of Noah's day ( Not dead people )
- 1 Peter 3:18-19; 2 Peter 2:4; Jude 1:6
I find 1 Peter 4:5-6 is in connection to Matthew 8:22; Ephesians 2:1 those are the spiritually dead, Not literal dead.
The literal dead know nothing as per Ecclesiastes 9:5.
Nothing but sleep - Psalms 6:5; Psalms 13:3; Psalms 115:17; Psalms 146:4; Isaiah 38:18; John 11:11-14
After Jesus resurrected dead Lazarus, then those chief priests right away plotted to put the resurrected Lazarus to death according to John 12:10.
Since No mention of Lazarus when Jesus died, then most likely they succeeded in killing resurrected Lazarus.

The Anointed……. Sorry mate, the fallen angels are still chained in darkness as they await the great Day of Judgement. 2 Peter 2: 4.

Jude Verse 6; RSV, “Remember the angels who did not keep their own position but left their proper dwelling have been kept by him in eternal chains in the nether gloom until the Judgement of the great Day.

As the great day of judgement is still in the future, those fallen angels still remain in the depths of darkness bound in chains.

As we shall later see, Enoch was escorted to the very ends of time, and chosen as the successor to the throne of the Most-High in the creation, where he was translated, from a physical body to a body of brilliant and blinding light. The word “CHRIST” means “The Anointed One.” Enoch was the one anointed by the Most High as his successor.

Christ is the English term for the Greek Χριστός (Khristós) meaning "The anointed one" It is a translation of the Hebrew מָשִׁיחַ (Māšîaḥ), usually transliterated into English as Messiah or Mashiach. The Hebrew word translated "anointed" is the verb form of the noun "Messiah."

Genesis 5: 23; Enoch was 365 (In days---A calendar year: the one-year old sacrificial Lamb of God.) and had spent his life in fellowship with God when he disappeared because God had Taken him.

Hebrews 11: 5; “By faith Enoch was translated (To change from one form to another) so that he should not experience death; and he was not found, because God had Translated him.

The only man to have ascended to the ends of all time and was ANOINTED as the successor to the throne of the MOST HIGH in the creation and translated so as to never see death, and this man, plays absolutely no part in the belief of the universal/Catholic church of Constantine: “The Stone that the builder's rejected, has turned out to be the most important stone of all."

The death of a person does not occur with the first death, which is that of the body, but with the second death which is that of the personality that had developed within the body.

Jesus, whose righteous ancestors had paid the blood price for sin and had been separated from the unrighteous dead and gathered to the bosom of Abraham, in who was the living, evolving and ascending spirit of Enoch, The only man to have been Carried to the throne of the MOST HIGH in the creation and anointed as his successor, to serve God before the body of Adam (Mankind) into all eternity.

Over those righteous spirits, who had paid the blood price for sin, and were separated from the unrighteous dead and then entered into rest in the body of the evolving “SON OF MAN” Who inherits the throne of the MOST HIGH in the creation, death no longer had any power, and Jesus was the duplication of Enoch our indwelling evolving righteous ancestral spirit, as he had evolved to some 2,000 years ago.

John 14: 30; “I cannot talk to you much longer, because (DEATH) the ruler of this world is coming. He has no power over me, but the world must know that I love the Father; that is why I do everything as he commands.”

On the cross, Jesus, who had been filled with the spirit of our Lord God and saviour on the day of his baptism, cried out, “My God, my God, why have you abandoned me," as he gave up his spirit and the evolving indwelling spiritual Enoch, the first to be released from the brilliant Simulacrum at the ends of time, ceased to be an individual entity, as the graves of the spirits, of who he was their compilation, and by who he had evolved, up until that point in time, were opened, and three days later, they [The body of Christ the anointed one] entered the city of Jerusalem, where they showed themselves as the risen Christ.

Matthew 27: 52, And the graves were opened: and many bodies of the saints (SAINTS-----Not Fallen Angels) that slept arose. Verse 53, And came out of the graves three days later [On the day of the resurrection,] they went into the Holy city and appeared to many.

One would expect the risen body of the ANOINTED ONE to appear to the family of Jesus first, and this is exactly what we see.

The first to see one of they, who were of the body of the risen Christ, the 365- day old unblemished Lamb, the sacrificial offering prepared for us by God, were his Mother, Mary the wife of Cleophas and her [Sister-in-law or daughter-in-law] Mary Magdalene, who, although looking straight at him, thought that he was the gardener, until he spoke her name.

The next to who, one of the risen body of Christ appeared, were the carpenter ‘Cleophas’ who is also called Alpheaus, and Simon/Simeon the half-brother of Jesus, who was to inherit the Episcopal throne of the church of the circumcision after his half-brother, 'James the righteous,' was killed at the instigation of the same Sadducee sect that had his brother Jesus killed.

Although Cleophas and Simon walked and talked with one of the risen body of Christ, for some 11 kilometres to the small town of Emmaus, they did not recognise him for who he was, until Simon saw the manner in which he broke the bread.

See John 20: 19 to 24; Cleophas then returned to Jerusalem, where the disciples, which included Simon Peter and Simon the Patriot, the only two of the twelve disciples by the name Simon, were cowering in a darkened room. The only one of the twelve who was absent that evening when there appeared in that dimly lit room in the form that they recognised as Jesus, was Thomas Jude another half-brother of Jesus, the one who was called the Twin, although nowhere does the bible say that he was an actual twin or whether he just held a striking resemblance to someone else, perhaps one with who he shared a common father.

But back to Cleophas, who said to the disciples, who would have opened the door for him, "He has risen, he appeared to Simon," who was of course Simon the son of Cleophas and half-brother to Jesus and the one who succeeded ‘James the younger’ as the head of the church founded by their brother Jesus.

It was then that a figure appeared in that dimly lit room in the form that they recognised as Jesus, the following week, Jesus appeared in the locked room, where this time, Thomas who was called the ‘TWIN’ was with the other disciples.

See John 21: 1 to 12; Then there were the seven disciples, who were fishing on Lake Galilee having no success at all, when someone on the bank told them to throw their net on the right side of the boat in which they caught 153 fishes, later on while sitting down to eat with the person who had a fire prepared with fish on it and some bread, not one of the seven disciples of Jesus who had walked and talked with him, dared to ask who he was, but they understood that he was of the risen body of Christ. Even when he ascended up into heaven as a cloud, some of the 11 disciples doubted that it was he.

The Anointed………Let me here repeat, Solomon wrote four books.

In the book of Sirach, R, H, Charles translation chapter 47 verse 17, it is written concerning Solomon, (1)“By thy songs, (2) parables, (3) dark speeches, and (4) SATIRES, thou didst cause astonishment to the peoples etc.”

URAVIP2ME wrote…….. The literal dead know nothing as per Ecclesiastes 9:5.

The Anointed……… Unlike yourself, I like to read the whole quote and not take a part of it out of all context to which it is meant to be read.

From the book of Ecclesiastes: GNB Catholic Study Edition 9: 5-6. “For the living know that they are going to die, but the dead know nothing. They have no further reward; they are completely forgotten. Their loves, their hates, their passions, all died with them. They ‘WILL NEVER AGAIN’ take part in anything that happens in this world.”

If you do not accept that the Book of Ecclesiastes, is Solomon’s book of SATIRE, then you must believe that it is the truth, and are related to the hopeless atheists, who, like yourself, also believe that the death of the body is the end of life, total oblivion, from which there is no return.

URAVIP2ME wrote…….After Jesus resurrected dead Lazarus, then those chief priests right away plotted to put the resurrected Lazarus to death according to John 12:10. Since No mention of Lazarus when Jesus died, then most likely they succeeded in killing resurrected Lazarus.

The Anointed……… So you believe that those who are resurrected by the Lord can later be killed by man, do you? But as Lazarus was not resurrected from the dead, he could have been killed by the chief priests or simly died from his terminal skin disease.

The name ‘Lazarus,’ means “Without help or Terminal”

John 11: 1-2; RSV. ”Now a certain man was ill, Lazarus of Bethany, the village of Mary and her sister Martha. It was Mary who anointed the Lord with ointment and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was ill.

John 11: 21; goes on to verify that Lazarus is the brother to Mary and Martha.

Luke 7: 36-39; “One of the Pharisees asked Jesus to eat with him, and he went into the Pharisee’s house, and took his place at table. And behold, a woman of the city, who was a sinner, when she learned that he was at table in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster flask of ointment, and standing behind him at his feet, weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment. 39 Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw it, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would have known who and what sort of woman this is who is touching him, for she is a sinner.”

Luke does not reveal the name of this Pharisee or the town in which he lived, nor his relationship to that sinful woman who anointed Jesus and wiped her tears from his feet with her hair, But the Pharisee knew who she was, who was allowed free access to his home.

Matthew 26: 6; “Now while Jesus was at Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, (A terminal shin disease in those days) a woman came to him with an alabaster jar of very costly ointment, and she poured it on his head as he sat at the table. 8 But when the disciples saw it, they were angry and said, “Why this waste? For this ointment could have been sold for a large sum, and the money given to the poor.”

Mark 14: 3; And while he was at Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at table, a woman came with an alabaster flask of ointment of pure nard, very costly, and she broke the flask and poured it over his head.

Both Matthew and Mark reveal that it was at the house of the Pharisee with the terminal skin disease, that a woman anointed Jesus and wiped his feet with her hair, who John claims was Mary the sister of “LAZARUS” from the town of Bethany.

Jesus woke the comatose body of Lazarus, which had never begun the process of decomposition, which begins immediately after death. As soon as blood circulation and respiration stop, the body has no way of getting oxygen or removing wastes. Excess carbon dioxide causes an acidic environment, causing membranes in cells to rupture. The membranes release enzymes that begin eating the cells from the inside out.

The spirits of the dead who heard the Good News also, and who came out of their graves on the day of CHRIST’s resurrection, were saints and not the Fallen Angels.

The SATIRICAL work of Solomon, is the book of Ecclesiastes.

And the comatose body of Lazarus, was not dead.

I find a four-day dead and buried person is Not comatose. What does John 11:39 say_________
King Solomon was known for having God-given wisdom according to 1 Kings 3:11-13; 1 Kings 3:16-28
Unless of course, there is No chapter 3 in one's Bible.

After four days of decomposing, I for one would not sit beside the man at a dinner table.

What does John 11:39 say, you ask; It says that his sister Martha, believed that the body of her brother who had laid in a cave and decomposing for 4 days would stink, but of course it didn't stink because it had not begun the process of decomposition, which begins within moments of death, revealing that the body was not dead.

1 Kings 3: 11-13.
11 So God said to him, “Since you have asked for this and not for long life or wealth for yourself, nor have asked for the death of your enemies but for discernment in administering justice, 12 I will do what you have asked.I will give you a wise and discerning heart, so that there will never have been anyone like you, nor will there ever be. 13 Moreover, I will give you what you have not asked for—both wealth and honor—so that in your lifetime you will have no equal among kings.

1 Kings 3: 16-28.
16 Now two prostitutes came to the king and stood before him. 17 One of them said, “Pardon me, my lord. This woman and I live in the same house, and I had a baby while she was there with me. 18 The third day after my child was born, this woman also had a baby. We were alone; there was no one in the house but the two of us.

19 “During the night this woman’s son died because she lay on him. 20 So she got up in the middle of the night and took my son from my side while I your servant was asleep. She put him by her breast and put her dead son by my breast. 21 The next morning, I got up to nurse my son—and he was dead! But when I looked at him closely in the morning light, I saw that it wasn’t the son I had borne.”

22 The other woman said, “No! The living one is my son; the dead one is yours.”

But the first one insisted, “No! The dead one is yours; the living one is mine.” And so they argued before the king.

23 The king said, “This one says, ‘My son is alive and your son is dead,’ while that one says, ‘No! Your son is dead and mine is alive.’”

24 Then the king said, “Bring me a sword.” So they brought a sword for the king. 25 He then gave an order: “Cut the living child in two and give half to one and half to the other.”

26 The woman whose son was alive was deeply moved out of love for her son and said to the king, “Please, my lord, give her the living baby! Don’t kill him!”

But the other said, “Neither I nor you shall have him. Cut him in two!”

27 Then the king gave his ruling: “Give the living baby to the first woman. Do not kill him; she is his mother.”

28 When all Israel heard the verdict the king had given, they held the king in awe, because they saw that he had wisdom from God to administer justice.

Now, pray tell, what does the wisdom given to Solomon, have to do with the comatose body of Simon/Lazarus?
