The Iceman: The power of breath

Not sure if this is correctly placed in Paranormal, because "the iceman" technique has been proven to work.
I found it interesting, not to debate about it, just to share, that's why I put it here.

I live in Holland and once I was in a city called Haarlem. Normally I always feel terribly cold, being underweight. We came to a lake, kind of freezing outside, and my friend, knowing I am always cold, jokingly challenged me "shall we go for a swim"? And for the first time in my life I felt hot, so I thought "if I want to try it out, I better do it now". I went in the lake, my friend also. He went out after a few minutes (to cold for him to stay in; and he always takes cold showers and swims in cold see), and I stayed in for 30 minutes, then on the bike, just wearing swimming trousers I biked 10km. Could not care that all people watched me, like "he is crazy".

I could not understand how this was possible, being always cold. Then I came across "the iceman". This man is Dutch, and coincidentally he lives in Haarlem, so probably he has been dipping in the same lake many times. Seeing his video below, I now understand it is possible. Just came across it, so still have not figured it out, how to be able to do it again "at will".

I found this interesting. He scientifically proved things that were thought impossible. Like injecting viruses in his body, and eliminating the virus by Will, all scientifically studied and observed in the hospital. Very impressive. Now "the iceman" even is in the schools in America (as he said in the youtube).

Nope, not buying it. That's not how it works.

I am reminded of the Buddhist monks that trained by warming wet clothes on a freezing mountain perch while sitting still.

I believe in the reality of siddhi powers (paranormal) of advanced spiritual practioners.. I believe there are said to be sixteen of these. There are even western scientists that have studied and accepted such things.

Dr. Dean Radin has even written a book on ‘real’ magic.

Okay you seem to be an expert in this area. Could you explain what you mean with "that's not how it works"? And could you explain how it does work.

Thanks for the reply; I didn't know about the Buddhists monks, quite amazing the heat they generated by meditation. It's not even a belief anymore that siddhi powers are real. Swami Rama has shown this years ago in the US, done in science labs well documented. I like these stories, showing there is so much more in the universe than we, normal humans, are aware of.

I don't know much about siddhis, so I am not sure if there are sixteen siddhis. I do know there are sixteen Divine Attributes. I always thought of clearvoyance, clearaudiance etc. as siddhis. So I just read a bit. There are different sects in India describing all different siddhis. Some are really cool, and unbelievable. Those guys are so advanced in meditation, I am just such a beginner; good to read about it, keeps me humble. Reading from the different sects, I think there are quite a few siddhis, many more than 16 when I read this link: Siddhi - Wikipedia
In short the link gives this on siddhis:
a)Shaivism has 8 primary extraordinary ones; no surprise to me;) ... Shiva is known for "extraordinary"
b)Vaishnavism have 5 primary and 10 secondary
c)Samkhya has another 8 ones
d)Some other ones:
Patanjali's Yoga Sutras
In Patañjali's Yoga Sutras IV.1 it is stated, Janma auṣadhi mantra tapaḥ samādhijāḥ siddhayaḥ, "Accomplishments may be attained through birth, the use of herbs, incantations, self-discipline or samadhi".[14]
Hindu deities associated with gaining siddhi
Ganesha, Hanuman, various forms of Devi and various other deities are popularly seen as the keepers of siddhis, with the ability to grant them to the worshipper.[15]

What the "Iceman" shows us, is indeed described under siddhis:
  1. advandvam: tolerance of heat, cold and other dualities
  2. agni arka ambu viṣa ādīnām pratiṣṭambhaḥ: checking the influence of fire, sun, water, poison, etc.
They even mention (under Samkhya) these two as being siddhis (I did not know that):
  1. Shabda: knowledge gained by associating with an enlightened person (Guru – upadesh).
  2. Addhyyan: knowledge gained through study of the Vedas and other standard ancillary texts.
Nice part of the "iceman" is that he claims that what he does is within reach for others also (he says even within 2 days). Maybe I should do his course, would be great to be unaffected by cold. A friend of mine did this course with "the iceman" already, and another is about to do it. For now I switched the temperature down from 20 to 16, and I am getting used to it already in just 2 weeks (saving hundreds of dollars a year even).
