The United States is ultimately responsible for illegal immigration

Epic Beard Man

Bearded Philosopher
The success of the United States, its slogans, its movies, pictures of people who live the American dream with the white picket fence and 2.5 kids are ultimately the catalyst of its own demise. I recall being in the cafeteria line with an elderly lady who was ordering some food. The man of Hispanic descent nervously was assembling the sandwich while the woman tried to dictate how she wanted made. the woman yelled "no you don't make it like that sir, you're supposed to flip the chicken in the pan with the sauce!" The man replied "yes, the chicken, pollo!" To her disdain he apparently assembled the chicken incorrectly. She walked away saying something to the effect of "why can't you all speak English?"

I know Donald Trump's slogan of "Make America Great Again" is nothing more than saying "Make America White Again" considering the arguments regarding immigration from various "deplorable" and sh****le countries. Ultimately we are responsible for the influx of illegal immigration. The problem is the citizens of the United States are not willing to pay high prices nor are companies willing to abide by labor laws because the citizens of this country do not want to pay high prices nor are willing to do the labor work. I must admit, I rarely have seen a Caucasian, Asian, African-American, do labor work such as housekeeping, dishwashing, fruit picking or or grass cutting.

Trump's base who scream MAGA and talk about securing our borders and protecting our jobs are not the same individuals who are applying at my hospital to clean up patient waste, scrub walls, clean scabies riddled beds. No, I see people who have potentially forged paper work, speaks little English who lives with seven other people in a household. Unless Americans are willing to pay higher costs to support other Americans working we will always have people in less fortunate countries wanting to come here to make a better life. Because of constitution does not allow discrimination we cannot force people to acclimate to our way of life. Because companies operate unpunished (Donald Trump included) undocumented workers from Latin American countries will continue to gravitate here.

There are thousands of children being held in tent camps along the Texas/Mexico border. A spokesperson said that it will be almost impossible to unite these kids with their parents.

How expensive would it be to get the DNA from these children and then match it with mothers and fathers who claim their child had been detained by border police?

Illegal immigrants are themselves responsible for acting illegally. The US does not force them to do this!

However, I often wonder why the government doesn't crack down harder on illegal workers! I expect the pat answer to be that we need the inexpensive labor to do crap jobs but I say an illegal system should not be the answer. There needs to be a way to allow for things to be done legally.

To my utter surprise, I agree with some of your post.

I do not agree to your mandatory pulling out of the race card, but one must expect certain things from certain people.

You are correct in in that illegal immigration is fueled by greed, not of the immigrant, but by those who would profit from the immigrant. Large corporations who do not use e verify, people who have their lawns cut by them because they are cheaper than a licensed landscape company, etc. This greed creates the vacuum that draws the illegals to our borders.

I agree further in that these folk are prepared to do what Americans won´t.

When I retired I moved to a rural part of Arizona. There are a number of large farms in the area that use Mexican field workers . These workers are part of a program whereby they are guest workers. They work brutally hard in the fields, and are paid a wage that by Mexican standards is good pay.

The farmers would happily employ Americans, but no American would do the work for 10 times the pay.

Strict enforcement of labor codes. Required use and documentation re e verify, punitive enforced consequences for hiring illegals, and a robust and well organized guest worker program would go a long way in removing the incentive to come here.

I recall working for 1.90 per hour in 110 degree heat to earn money for college
and take exception to this (it was below min wage which was 2.35 but they claimed in principle
customers could tip you)

You are an exception, not the rule. If people who complained about immigration had your work ethic, we would be paying $2 for an apple instead of 4 for $1 (I'm clearly exaggerating but you get the point). Point is, companies can hire cheap labor because the average American will complain about paying higher prices for veggies and fruits and besides these cheap companies can save money and circumvent labor laws, formation of unions etc. You see Mexicans, Salvadorians, Ecuadorians, all do what you do times twenty not for college, but as a way of life in their homelands alone.

You're not special.

Oh wow! Now the kids will never learn how to break another country's law like their parents did and encourage them when they grow up, to bring their kids along too.

Hispanic hombres have done roofing repair work for me. A pretty Mexican senorita has done household cleaning choirs for me. I've even let a Russian barber style my hair. The cheap labor of illegal immigrants have financially benefited me as well as other privileged class Americans. However, I now realize we were wrong to have employed illegal immigrants who've driven down the wages of decent hard working American citizens.

If you lived in an impoverished, violent, crime cridden hellhole, wouldn't you be willing to take risks and bend rules so your children could have a chance at a decent life rather than one of misery and misfortune? I don't deny that illegal immigration is problematic, but I pity rather than scorn those who are only seeking a better life for their families.

Record 14,000 unaccompanied immigrant children in US custody, HHS confirms - CNNPolitics

These are unaccompanied minors, Your post implies accompanied by their parents minors who have been separated.

The detention facilities are not tents along the US Mexico border. Some facilities are as far away from the border as the midwest or east.

These kids receive better food, housing, and care than they probably did in their native countries.

Their parents have no apparent interest in them, else why would they have wound up in the US without them ?

After having them dragged from south to north in one of the most violent nations on earth, the parents in many cases hope that if their kid gets to stay, they will have a free pass to enter and stay as well.
