The religion you would choose if you realized you're gay

The one God would want you to choose. What is the point of a religion that only suits yourself?.
That it suits you I guess.

I can well expect people who are particularly religious will follow their faith, but a lot of people in the world belong to a religion as a sort of form and those people may well change their religion to one that suits them better.

What do you see "religion" as doing for someone? If it is to simply conform to a group of like minded thinkers but that 'group' thinking goes against God's laws, again....what is the point of it? You might just as well join a gay club.

God did not invent religion....humans did. They wanted gods that suited their own needs, so they invented a bunch of them that fitted right in with what they wanted to believe. Is this what religion is for, in your view?

If God is not in your religion or if you think he doesn't care about what we do, then again we are looking for what suits ourselves, not what suits the God we pretend doesn't care about what he said. Do you think he would make laws if he was not going to enforce them?

Did God give his laws to man for no reason? Or does he expect us to comply with them? What will happen to "religions" that claim him as their God, but ignore what he requires? What do you think?

What's wrong with joining a gay club?

God's laws on homosexual acts are clear and unambiguous.
No, it's your religion's beliefs about what you assume are God's "laws" that are unambiguous. Personally, I think it's a bit much for you to presume to speak for a god who you can't even establish exists at all.

Since the OP was asking about joining a religion, I'm not sure that a gay club qualifies. I'm sure gay people can frequent whatever establishments they choose. Calling them a "church" or a "religion" might be a bit extreme though....

He has clearly established his existence to his own worshippers.....if he has not established his existence to you....then you must be an unbeliever....nothing I can do about that...sorry.

It definitely wasn't Christianity. Rather I had to leave it because it very toxic to me and highly destructive to my emotional health.
But once I did accept myself, choosing a religion was never a question, concern, or priority. I have a life to enjoy while I still can and have no need or purpose to seek something that in the end only pretends to have answers.

Gay? If I were gay the smart religion to pick would be something that involved legal use of a normally illegal depressant, so maybe Rastafarian or a Hindu religion that used a system depressant. Anything to get people to relax, be themselves. Currently there is no religion that requires DMT, but that could change. The Pastafarians can get away with colanders on their heads for drivers license photos, so I wouldn't be surprised.

People are so wound up, like crossbows. You just barely jostle them and "Twang!"

Let me know if it happens because I've heard DMT provides a very profound spiritual experience.
(curious how it's legality/illegality technically works though since it's produced naturally in our DNA).

Which would you choose and why?

Religion should be aligned with who you are. It should be balanced; interrelated. A christian can follow Islam because Allah of Islam wants a person to follow him just as god to a christian. No different.

Yet, a christian chooses christ because it relates to her experiences and understanding of the world from christ islam doesnt give. It relates to Who that christian is not what religion he choses nor what he does.

No one is gay because of their experiences and actions (that's like saying I choose to be black and that choice makes me date black women). Instead, he is gay because of his physiological, psychological, biological, and spiritual (PPBSA) attractions nothing more. It's the same with a christian. Their experiences are the result of their faith in christ not because of it.

So, I would chose a religion with which we are interconnected. A religion that does not say I, me, who I am, as unnatural and disordered. A religion that does not says I have a disorder because of my attractions and nothing more. My PPBSA is part of who I am. It has nothing to do with what I choose to do.

I agree with some folks here that one should not chose a religion if it only means that it approves of a straight and gay person's lifestyle. Murdering (case in point) someone does not make you, your soul, a murderer just your actions.

Instead, folks should follow a religion that connects with who they are. That religion guides that person to act in accordance with their faith's doctrines (in abrahamic religions). It should point a straight and gay person to live, if christianity, christ-like. If their god says that their lifestyle is a sin, both people should not commit to that lifestyle. But being in a straight lifestyle whether a straight person dates males or females does not make one gay.

So, if god told me my lifestyle was a sin, I would change my lifestyle. However, I would not follow a religion that says who I am is a sin. I would follow a religion who accepts me for who I am in my PPBSA. I would accept a religion that loves me for me and not define me by what I do; I would not follow a religion that says I, my soul, am a murderer because I murdered.

Which specific religion would I chose?

1. Any one that connects with who I am
2. Any one that guides me to do things because of who I am not because I am coerced to act a certain way
3. Any one that would shape my character to be a good person.

In my opinion, these should be requirements for all people who wish to follow a said religion. Their choice comes from their heart not from what they see in the mirror or criminal record. Their skin color, PPBSA, how tall they are, where they are from, and what they do should have nothing to do with it.

Edit/Aka. I would only follow a religion to which is interwoven with who I am as a gay, short, black, creative person rather than what I do. If it's not interconnected with who I am, thus, guides what I do, I see no reason to follow it and act according to its edicts.

You used the term, and you did it with a negative connotation.

He has clearly established his existence to his own worshippers.....if he has not established his existence to you....then you must be an unbeliever....nothing I can do about that...sorry.

I see no reason to believe that any gods have actually "established their existence" to you.

In any case, until you can establish your god's existence to me, I'm certainly not going to believe that you have any insight whatsoever into the mind of a god that just happens to support your prejudices. If you can't support even the most basic premise of your claims - i.e. that God exists - there's no reason for me to accept anything else you're saying.

You do agree that any doubt about the existence of God casts significant doubt on your claim that you know God's attitudes toward gay people, right?
