Was jesus a thief because he broke into the spiritual storehouses and stole their treasures, beliefs and left them devoid of any substance? he broke their spiritual house of cards?

37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! 38 Behold, your house is left unto you desolate. 39 For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.

Revelation 16:15
Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.

century 1
quatrain 96
A man will be charged with the destruction
of temples and sects, altered by fantasy.
He will harm the rocks rather than the living,
ears filled with ornate speeches.

The likeness of return of Christ to a thief, is more to denote that His coming will not be noticed easily, "watch therefore". But it may also denote that, those who have, will be given more, and those who have less, even He will take away more from them: "understanding and wisdom" will be taken from them.

The metaphor of a thief is to me illuminating. A thief moves quietly in the dark, dressed so that his movements are not noticed. He may appear to be someone else so the lack of notice are compounded by his disguise. He carries all the tools he needs to break and enter.

And to me the various passages in the Bible give complementary images: Bible Gateway passage: Revelation 16:15, Matthew 24:43, 1 Thessalonians 5:2, 1 Thessalonians 5:4, 2 Peter 3:10 - King James Version

Cherry picking scripture in this case loses context as pertains to "thief".
This is a comparison of scriptures in the expanded version and the Greek/English of Revelation 16 Linked.

Linked: Strong's Greek: "Thief"=2812. kleptés

Jesus was God in flesh. He cannot "steal" , like a contemporary thief behaves, what is his creation.

Psssst, Jesus taught from the parables in the OT.
uh huh, that's cherry picking. all the prophets used riddles and metaphors to tease the subconscious. great minds think alike.

1 Corinthians 2:16
For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? but we have the mind of Christ.

Hebrews 8:11
And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.
