The above transphobic sign got Pastor Justin Hoke of the Trinity Bible Presbyterian Church in deep trouble with his congregation.

He put the sign up sometime around December 31st. In less than two weeks, he was out of a job. His congregation was disgusted with him and they rebelled almost to a person. Every couple in his church -- except one -- declared they would leave the Church if Hoke stayed on as Pastor.

Is the response to Hoke's sign a "sign of the times" (pun shamelessly intended)?

Questions? Comments?

I dont want to judge any of the parts involved, but should not a priest preach the bibles words? and when he do he get kicked out?
Or should he adapt to what people want to hear because it is comfortable today?

Only a very sick person would think there is anything wrong with being gay, the Bible is very WRONG indeed where this issue is concerned.

People who lust after leadership are always complaining that liberalism won’t get you followers. I say let such shallow preachers beware the moral fibre of congregations like this one

Well if its a sin in the bible Jesus or God must have seen something many do not see to agree with today. But i am not here to judge any christian people or their priests, i just asked a question.
And if i remember right from when i did read the bible, it only say its a sin for those who follow christianity. But i can be wrong on that.

Something is not true just because the Bible says it is

The Bible is NOT right about many things. I hope Jesus was gay, having a particular disciple whom he loved. Gay or straight I hope the guy had a fulfilling sex life.

For those who follow christianity the bible is the closest they can come to what jesus did teach. But for those who does not follow the bible should they care what it say? or mock it because they are not agree?

I never mocked it, I observed that it is not 100percent true, your allegation of mockery is naught other than slander

What i meant by my comment is, if a person is not Christian (in this case) why should he or she care what they bible teach those who follow the teachings. But where many believes do wrong is to also judge those who do not follow their religion.

So both side do wrong.

We must stand against injustice, even if others consider it their sacred right to carry out such injustice and have a book condoning such injustice.

So no, there is not wrong on both sides

One way to correct the pastor's views.

He will be using the correct pronouns in no time flat! Yes ma'am!

I guess that would depend on whether you see Christianity as a living, evolving tradition, or as a fossilized relic of an ancient age.

That is true. More and more people see Christianity as old and outdated. But even as a Buddhist i do not disagree with Christianity on many levels. But see the answer to the question in this OP a bit different then Christians do. But since it is about Christianity i chose to answer in that context and not as a buddhist with somewhat different view of the topic

"Bruce Jenner is still a man" are "the Bible's words?"

and when he do he get kicked out?
Or should he adapt to what people want to hear because it is comfortable today?
Should his congregation adapt this for the comfort of their minister?

Rom 14:4:

Who are you to pass judgment on another's servant? Before his own master he stands or falls. And he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand.
