A response to the Skeptic's Annotated Bible When Was Heaven Created?
The Hebrew perfect state of bara (created), at Genesis 1:1, indicates without a doubt that the heavens and earth were complete at that time. The creative "days" that followed were periods of time when the completed heavens and earth were being made habitable. The founding of the world refers to the establishment of the world of men, i.e. the birth of Cain. Jehovah had began preparing for man's salvation after Adam sinned but before they had conceived. (Genesis 3:15) The Greek word for founding used is katabole, which means throwing down seed, also used in reference to Sarah. (John 17:5 / Luke 11:50,51 / Matthew 13:35 / Hebrews 4:3; 9:26; 11:11 / Ephesians 1:4 / 1 Peter 1:20) John 14:2 has nothing to do with either the creation of the material universe nor the creation of the world of man.
