Yep. Isn't it amazing how often that those that hate gay people the most turn out to be gay themselves?

Those guys like both Falwell's, John Hagee, Benny Hinn, and many others taught "feel good" theology, condemned LGBT folk, in service miraculous healing. Hinn was famous for healing the sick without a touch and the power would knock them down. I was AT one of his services and he PUSHED me. I had suspected he was a phony, and that confirmed it.

Those guys could have been teaching sound doctrine. I wonder what the God of Eternity will do?

With all I've seen, why do I still try to please God?

It would be apt if the song, "Let The Bodies Hit The Floor" was inspired by him.

I've always wondered why is that. Perhaps some internal struggle becomes externalized and projected to other people?
Since the Bible itself is homophobic when taken literally these people end up hating that part of themselves. And since it is a perceived threat to their "salvation" they attack those that stir those desires within themselves.

Jerry Falwell Jr. opened up a gay flophouse with a 21 year old pool boy:

Trump-Tied Evangelist Funded Fontainebleau Pool Attendant's Miami Beach Real-Estate Deal

I just learned of this by listening to Cult of Dusty. Warning, F-bombs galore:

I got this far.....
..... Donald Trump — a sexually rapacious avatar of American greed,
racism, and unearned privilege who very clearly does not care about the Bible.....
....& realized that there's a remote possibility that the article
could be so agenda laden as to be misleading.
Is there another source which appears more worth reading?

The Bible does have those parts that are "homophobic". It also has other parts that people are quiet about because they are not on the agenda. I doubt that the Bible would be the only reason for it, since they appear in other religions (and non-religion) too. Might be societal expectations.

A reason for the popularity is that it says whatever one
wants it to say-or perhaps wants it not to say.

We do of course note that the more someone rails against
whatever vice, the more you know they are talking about
themselves.

It is a collection of books containing self-interpreted cultural history of a people and various texts with contradictory moral ideas.

whatever vice, the more you know they are talking about
themselves.
That observation hits the mark more often than not.

This I probably going to be at first covered by left wing and gossip media. How about Politico?

I started reading.
I kept reading.
It looked like I'd have to read a lot more to find out just where it was leading.
So I'm asking for your summary instead.
This is the same source as in the OP.

How is it schadenfreude if some Falwell progeny opens a gay oriented hostel?
This strikes me more as social progress.

Oops, thought it looked familiar.

It seems there may have been some serious shenanigans between Falwell and the pool boy. Normally that would be their own business. But when one makes one's living by attacking homosexuals it is the height of hypocrisy to be one yourself.

There are multiple Falwells.
This younger one....do we know that he is publicly anti-gay?
If he's open to doing business with them, this might signify
his evolution towards tolerance.

WWMRD?
It starts out with a big claim, then we find out it was a scrap of fact with a story created around it with could be's and it's possibles.
"X starts a gay flophouse with poolboy"
"Coed and gay friendly hostle"
"We treated it as a loan"
Sounds like gossip

So many of these partisan political "Gotcha!" threads evaporate in a puff of gossip.

I'm not even sure what they are trying to "gotcha" at the end of the day it seems some preacher loaned money to someone to start a hostle that does not discriminate against sex or sexual preference so young people can have a cheap and safe place to stay. Even if some do treat it as a "flop house" after a night of partying I'd say a place like that is far better than them passing out on or wandering the streets . young, inebriated and out late? Sounds like wolf food , easy prey for robbery, sexual assault etc.

There have been many televangelists who've not actually followed what they've preached. Televangelists often have a record of being very worldly and materialistic; so why are their supporters so easily fooled over and over again? Are Christian televangelist supporters really that gullible and naive?
