Lol thank you. What are you trying to say? You have evidence that God exists? I haven't been reading your posts for too long, so I'm not sure what you are saying yet.

I'm saying that there is no evidence at all for religious belief of any kind. It's belief. It's not logical, and evidence involves this thing called logic.

thank you for clarifying. Am I to take this to mean that you don't believe there is a God that we cannot see?

I believe in God. Where did you get the idea I didn't? I do suspect, however, that my concept of God is very different from yours.

It's the carrot and stick routine, give a slave a little hope that there really is a light at the end of the tunnel and they will draw the cart till they drop with fewer if any complaints.
At least that is my perspective
So God made us this way so that we'd have no choice but to be slaves to Him?

In physics they have the concepts of dark energy and dark matter. These two things have never been seen in the lab and/or in any particle accelerator to know if they are real or imaginary. Thus the names, dark matter and dark energy. We are still in the dark with respect to direct lab evidence.

These things are inferred from observations that cannot be directly explain using only existing standard theory. The concepts of dark matter and energy were not always needed. But as science tools became better, the standard theory could not keep up with the anomalies and needed an addendum to maintain the status quo. This addendum was added, but it still has not been directly proven in the lab to be real. It is sort of place holder that is spoken of as though already proven. This is a prestige magic trick for the masses and the money changers.

Dark energy is similar to postulating that the God, Helios, by riding his chariot ,was responsible for the movement of the sun. This was inferred at a time when the then standard theory, had no good physical explanation for the movement of the sun. Helios was inferred by observation, in light of the then standard theory, even though he can't seen in the lab. He is also too far away.

God can be proven using the same schema that is considered allowable by physics. We can infer God by the mere existence of observational reality, since no theory can yet create our universe from scratch, in a logical fashion. Like Dark energy we still sort of need this placeholder to correlate the deeper questions. If anything physics and science is starting to copy the religion schema of proving concepts via inference, that are elusive in the lab.

Yes, I was wondering, since you speak of lack of evidence of religious belief, but you believe in God.

My 'evidence' is all personal experience, which doesn't pass the test of what evidence actually is.

Just so I understand you, if possible, you believe in God, you say, but have no evidence or substantiation for that belief except personal experience.

Yes. I have no need to share 'evidence' or convince anyone. But I am indeed a strong theist. For me, and for most people who follow a faith under the dharmic umbrella, it's a personal matter.

I don't know what a dharmic umbrella is, so I'd like to ask you how you describe God, and if you worship Him. (or it.)

The dharmic umbrella is a term for all the religions considered as part of the dharmic family. Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Sikhism.

Why do you want to know my view of God? Of what value is it to you?

I like to find out what people believe. Some people do not believe in God (or 'a' god, or multitudes of gods) at all. And others believe in various descriptions of higher powers over them, but I have found comfort, after years of searching, and at one point, I gave up, in learning what the Bible has to say about God. As I said, after years of mystery and groping, I began my study of the Bible and have been satisfied. But thank you for your response, I appreciate it.

In my experience, a lot of people want to find out another person's belief just so they can argue, and tell the other person that they're wrong. So I hesitate, because I respect other peoples right to believe whatever they want to, and have no psychological need to argue. I'm far more likely to share my beliefs with agnostics for that reason.

Many people say they believe in God but when asked who God is, they have different opinions. Some say God is a cruel judge who will punish people for misdeeds. To others, he is always loving and forgiving no matter what they do. And yet others believe God is far away and distant. Does it matter?

Yes it matters. Consider the parenting effects on a child. Some kids have to live in fear while others live with the knowledge of unconditional love. Children raised in fear know fear, and will often perpetuate it when they become parents. Same goes for those who live in love.

To add to your descriptions, some folks combine one or more concepts and see them acting simultaneously.

Both Adam and Eve had a choice. They could eat from the tree God told them to not to or they could not. They did not have a choice as to whether they would be created, or given the opportunity to live. Just as we do not have a choice as to whether we are born or not.

yes, as you said, it matters how we perceive God. Knowing God better can add purpose and meaning to our life.
Acts 17:26-28.
26And he made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place, 27that they should seek God, and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him. Yet he is actually not far from each one of us, 28for in him we live and move and have our being, even as some of your own poets have said, 'For we are indeed his offspring.'
The closer someone draws to God, the more he will love and help you. James 4:8 says,
Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
