The Trump Effect & The New Democrats

Curious George

Veteran Member
While there's great disagreement over various Trump agendas, there's wide agreement
that he's candid with his opinions. (Some might say "honest", others "boorish".)
People are becoming less restrained in their insults, ribald language, open hostility,
& even calls for violence. Democrats haven't ignored Trump's success over their rather
wooden chosen one. So in this recent election, they unleash their own versions of Trump.

The New Democrats speak....
New congresswoman curses out Trump in call for impeachment

Quoted from the article.....
It didn't take long for new Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib to introduce herself to President Donald Trump and the nation. And she did so in the most profane way possible.

Tlaib, who was sworn in as Michigan's representative from the 13th Congressional District on Thursday afternoon, was speaking at an event for progressive advocacy group MoveOn.org when she relayed a conversation with her son to the crowd: "And when your son looks at you and says, 'Momma, look you won, bullies don’t win,' and I said, 'Baby they don't,' because we’re gonna go in and impeach the motherf-----."
I think some democrats, (as did some republicans), engaged in this behavior much before Trump. But there is definitely a downward trend in politics. Can't we elect any well spoken people with dignity and integrity?

My voice is too quiet over the polarized alts. Perhaps politics will snap back and again become more focused on ideas and compromise and not on obstruction and bashing the other. Or perhaps other parties will emerge. My thinking is that we have a ways to go down this degenerative path, (or at least what feels like a degenerative path).

Note:
As a resident of Michiganistan, I'm so proud my state is
leading the charge in widespread trumpish behavior.

But Georgia is not resting on its laurels....
This may be a misattribution of agency.

Trump can hardly be held responsible for these changes. He was enabled by voters.

To the extent that Dems may be emulating 45, and I do not doubt that it may well be a significant extent, it is probably a simple matter of acceptance that it is necessary to speak a language that voters will understand, accept and trust.

The actual political stances, Trump shows us, do not matter.

Trump is who he is. No more. No less. I think others would be foolhardy to try to emulate him. Others on both the left and the right should be true to themselves just as Trump is true to himself.

And actual political stances do matter.

I do not think his persona is reflective of his true character.

I do not think his persona is reflective of his true character.

Trump was from Queens and made his fortune in Manhattan. This was not an easy transition. This meant he had to deal with high brow elitist hypocrite Democrats with old money; donor class. Some of his persona is based on adaptation to that environment. Old money would call him boorish, so he gave them what they wanted. Having to deal with two faced underhanded Democrat NY politicians, like Schumer, ti get anything done, required a different adaptation, which involved giving them money and concessions to appease them.

If you watch a Trump rally, when he is surrounded by the common man and woman, he is a different person. He reminds me of someone in the construction trade, who is a hard worker who enjoys his job and family. That person is a little crude and rough around the edges, but he has a good heart and speaks from the heart that which is important to him.

There is another persona that is newer and has been create by fake news. He has had to adapt a means of self defense against constant gossip and insults, but without fairness or mention of the good things that he is doing for the economy and country. Being a victim of negative bullies can either break you or make you fight the bullies, even if you prefer not to fight. His Tweets upset the bullies, while keeping then at arms length so they can plot and scheme.

There is also an aspect of his persona that appears to be connected to Hollywood and celebrity. This involves the lifestyle of the beautiful people who are rich and famous. This persona includes entertaining young pretty starlets and conspicuous consumption. This in common in Democrat controlled Hollywood and even in Congress. There is a slush fund in Congress, that pays off young women and men so Democrats in Congress can use donor money to pretend to live like they are handsome, rich and famous.

Of the five persona, the four worse are connected to adaptation to the four main degenerate faces of Democrat leadership; Politicians, Old Money, Hollywood and Media. His natural persona appears to be connected to the middle class worker ethic, where he is the family man working at a construction site, making crude jokes while working hard and skillfully.

When they start grabbing women by the ***** let me know.
Aside from your beloved, Bill Clinton, Democrats
appear to be moving down from first base...

I disagree with that as well. He is not a family man, he has little connection with the middle or lower class. I do agree that he best fits within nouveau riche culture. He enjoys making a spectacle and putting on airs. While he is protective and financially supportive of his family he has seemed disconnected and standoffish from his children.

I do not know what you see that makes ypu think the way you do of Trump's character, but I think your perspective is as equally rose colored as the negative perspectives are tarnished.

I believe that no Democrats are intentionally emulating Trump,
but a several other things are going on....
- Those who speak as crudely as Trump does are now more
accepted in the environment he spawned.
- Angered by his crude persona, they lash out with less restraint.
- Other Democrats have urged nastier behavior.
- TDS & TAD
And actual political stances do matter.
Only to some extent. We've seen Democrats (Schumer, Hillary) who stood
for increased border security several years ago, but now appear against it.
Bill, Hillary & Obama once opposed gay marriage. Times changed, & the
political climate made it more popular. And so....you know. Finally, let's not
forget reading someone's lips..."No new taxes" preceded new taxes.
Politics sometimes trumps preferred stances.

I certainly do not support what she said and how she said it

I approve of both. Profanity doesn't offend me, nor do threats that the Democrats are coming after Trump.

She represents what many liberal Americans feel and want. She represents a constituency that surely largely agrees with her. Good for her. My biggest fear with the Democrats is that they play nice with the Republicans, a losing strategy.

Trump, the stable genius, doesn't understand that when you marginalize and demonize an entire political wing, that they will deeply resent him and want revenge. I see no reason why he shouldn't receive that treatment now. Actions have consequences.

There is no love lost here. Why pretend to have respect you don't have for a man worthy of the most contemptuous language? Why pretend that America is one people with a common ethic and purpose? It's not.

So yeah, proudly announce the intention to impeach the MF. Twice.

The left has gone off the deep end. What's in their head?

We're supposed to be a country united, bro. Now people have turned to hate based on their own instability. They've become zombified by their own paranoia.

I've heard of the famous "Michigan left," which involves U-turns and/or right turns, but they don't actually go left.

If you honestly believe that, then why do you defend the likes of Trump, especially because he goes against the preponderance of Catholic social teachings?

Personally, I don't hate Trump but I do hate so much of that which he has said and done that defies ever the most basic Judeo-Christian teachings. Even his numerous adulterous acts alone should be enough to tell you that he has no moral bearing but, unfortunately, there's so many more issues like that with him that show his utter depravity.
