What is the purpose of life?

Most people don't want to die. Which is generally why they go to doctors, recoil from terror, try to escape from death dealing incidents.
In theology purpose is a derived concept or a presumed one. In classical philosophical theology, purpose combined with chaos creates the world. This is the ancient model people have used to try and develop principles to pass on to future generations. Its Mesopatamian and Egyptian, but Western civilization takes that old model and reforms it or refines it or filters it. We say, no we do not accept a purpose given to us arbitrarily and seize it for ourselves. This is Adam and Eve taking the other fruit. This also the theft of fire from the gods. It is also the rejection of royal authority and the founding of a liberal society where property rights derive differently than before and where justice is absolute, not derived from government. Theologically, we may not have attained to our true purpose; but it is that which will change us into what we are becoming. It is therefore a guess in the theological system. In Christ, however, it is a specified goal with the details still being worked out.

I wonder what you believe. Does life have a purpose?

I believe an individual is free to choose their own purpose. My purpose is to solve problems and in solving problems to help other people. Ideally to the point where people can help themselves.

In the context of the universe, life has no purpose but is predicted as a result of entropy

In the context of life, the purpose is to preserve it as long as possible by passing on your genes to the next generation

To experience.

(which is preferable to non-experiencing the growth from separetness and ego-driven experiencing to realization of Oneness in love)

I don't claim to 'know'. It is from the teachings of the Masters I have come to most respect through careful consideration.

I don't 'know' either. I have, as it were, experienced a tiny whiff of "perfume", enough to cause me to dedicate myself to the search for the origin of the "perfume".

I see no fundamental purpose in life. If I'm honest, I can be rather nihilistic at times. Though from the lack of anything, I see the opportunity to create something greater. I don't have a reason to want to strive for something, but the alternative is nothing and therefore, I take it upon myself to use my limited time to live my own best possible life.
