Bad karma punishment

Oleh

Member
Hi, I started learning different religions. Unfortunately, I haven't chosen any yet but I always tend to believe the worst. According to Hinduism, if you have bad karma you will be burned in hell. I can't stop to fear. I feel so desperate that I wont to commit suicide. Sorry if this is the wrong topic. Is there any hinduist who can advise me how to survive being burned in hell. I can't live in constant fear of karma punishment. It is not life, it is hell.

:D That is quite simple, Oleh - don't indulge in evil deeds and fulfill your familial, social and national duties - you will be well-rewarded in heaven. That is irrespective of your faith and belief. Hinduism is an absolutely fair religion. Same treatment to all.

I think you've over-simplified this to the point of error, Oleh. ;)

I support your interest in exploring different religions, but am somewhat confused by your apparent interest in "choosing" one.

Hindus don't believe in any eternal hell, so you can rest assured that won't happen. In many ways the belief in hell is the only hell. Being afraid all the time, living in constant fear and worry, now that's hell. The way out of such troubles is to change your character into a positive one, using your will to create yourself future karmas that reflect your newfound good behaviour.

Haven't you also done good things? I'm sure you have, even if the bad seem to out-weigh the good. Most people do both over the course of their lives...
But I have read that no matter what good you deed you must suffer for bad things you did. And for all bad things you need to suffer.

If a belief is harming you to the extent that you want to kill yourself, you should consider giving up that belief. You don't have to believe in any sort of hell. It is better for you to be an atheist and irreligious but alive than to dead. Please don't harm yourself. That won't make anything better. You may want to seek help from a doctor.

There are many instructive lives about people who have committed what are commonly considered to be bad things but who have become great sages and inspiration to many.

Karma is karma. There is really no good or bad involved. The impact of ANY action returns to you. Good and bad are judgement calls that come from dualistic (good/evil) thinking. A little kid will think that withholding candy from him is you being a 'bad' parent, but in reality you're doing the kid a favour. So all action is mixed, some good, some bad.

One way to alleviate these feelings is to go out and do some 'good'. If you've hurt someone through words, apologize and give them a nice gift. Do stuff that will relieve you of all this guilt. Best wishes.

Why on earth would you do that? You do realize that that is not a reasonable approach, right?

Ok, so you have a flair for drama dealing with dogma you do not appear to understand. Makes sense. o_O.

Just ignore karma altogether and get on with your life.:cool::D

Why do people feel that compassion is for everyone else but themselves?
Seriously, it's a negative spin ... the downward spiral of depression, that just beats himself/herself up day after day, and it becomes a habit pattern. Small steps help to recuperate, but rarely are there major changes.

I suggest you look for a Guru, a spiritual guide. Usually a Guru will require some degree of devotion just to insure you are serious about this.

If it is just a superficial inquiry into Hinduism, I don't know what you are worried about. If you are just looking into different religions why start taking any seriously at this point.
