I hope for a speedy recovery! Good news is with the holidays coming up she will have plenty of time to weigh her options going forward.
Agreed. I'm sure the old girl has a bit of fight left in her yet. Now for a speedy recovery and a happy retirement. :)

Broken ribs are no fun. They are particularly no fun when one is old...and her injuries may mean that she is suffering from osteoporosis...which means she is at grave risk of breaking more. here's hoping that she heals rapidly and well, whatever she chooses to do.

She's not retiring until tЯump is impeached.

Which, come to think of it-- with the Dems now opening non-corrupted investigation?

Ought to be only a matter of weeks.

Unless, of course, tЯump gets his Fondest Wish: To Be President For Life.

Much as Lincoln was President For Life. As was JFK. And a few others...

So here's to tЯump getting his wish.

Wow, you are so obsessed with Trump you had to try to make this about him? Really?

Let’s focus on Justice Ginsburg and her recovery.

In the article it mentions she has had previous fractures from falls.

I saw her age and I was was like, wtf? I would have retired like 10 years ago.

She was pressured to resign during Obama's term, but she wasn't ready and wouldn't give in. I think she also wanted the first female president to nominate her replacement.

She's a tough old bird; I doubt this keeps her down for long. Here's to a speed recovery.

Too large a percentage of those over 80 who fall die quickly. I hope she's not one of them.

Do you think this might spur a retirement? These kind of injuries are rough on even the young and healthy.

In a normal case, yes. With Trump being the one to nominate her successor? Eh.

The one thing that might bring her to do it, outside of absolute necessity, is the way Trump handled Kennedy's replacement. From what I understand, Kennedy played a large role in choosing Kavanaugh. If he extends the same courtesy to her and they work out a compromise replacement that both feel comfortable with, and if her quality of life would be greatly improved in retirement, is the only way I see her voluntarily resigning.

On the other hand, given what the opposition DID to Kavenaugh, do you thing Justice Ginsberg would want to expose anybody she LIKES to that?

That only applies to those who break hips, or bones that severely impact the ability to get up and walk. Ribs are nasty....but not that dangerous unless they puncture a lung or cause breathing problems that result in pneumonia.

I'd be a lot more worried about Justice Ginsberg if she'd broken a hip, a knee or a shoulder, or if she does have breathing problems and develops pneumonia. Here's hoping (and praying) that she doesn't.

She was planning on retiring, until the orange liar stole the elections. So, yeah, she's having to serve longer than she wanted, in an effort to save the Republic from Nazis.
