I recon that in a lot of Religons that the paridise is a lot of times a garden. Why a garden and not a castle or a forest?

paradis is a state of mind. tend your garden well o gardener.

a man's home is his castle, rule it well o king of mansions in the sky, castles in the clouds.

a man's thoughts are a forest, tend your forest with care o ranger

I suspect it is due to how dirty and ugly the world around them was. The opposite would be a beautiful surrounding with perfume in the air, soft breezes, food readily available growing on trees and so forth.
