Can't decide what religion a pantheist belongs to

I really want to get together with like minded folks, but since I do not believe in any deities, it is hard to find a community. I think that paganism would be a good fit, but not sure. Any suggestions?

I often associate pantheism with Hindu (advaita=non-dual=God and us/creation are not-two) and western New Age (for lack of a better term) beliefs.

Quakers, liberal Catholics, possibly the Orthodox but not sure about that, Unity churches, any church with a rainbow sticker, Anglicans, Church of Canada, Reform Jews perhaps, others. I have no idea why you feel paganism would fit?

Hi there Thirza,

Paganism is a very broad term. There definitely are Pagans who are agnostic or atheist.
Paganism without gods, or without literal gods is not at all unheard of.
These people will often use the labels "Naturalistic" or "Humanistic" in addition to "Pagan".

Here are a few sites with info about this worldview:
Humanistic Paganism
What is Humanistic/Naturalistic Paganism?
Why “Naturalistic Pagan”?

I hope that helps. :)

Deism and its pan- and poly- variations pandeism, panendeism, polydeism (this last one's really interesting).

You may wish to reach out to your local Unitarian Universalist congregation. I've met a pantheist or two when attending services or social gatherings.

You are quite intriguing. I can't remember if I had asked you about doing puja as an agnostic/atheist. I love Hinduism but without deity belief, I wonder how one can get involved with that mindset. Help!

With making revere for nature important, paganism seemed natural. Funny when I take the beliefnet religion quiz, it often shows Liberal Quaker as first choice.

From Wikipedia:
Pūjā or Poojan is a prayer ritual performed by Hindus to host, honour and worship one or more deities, or to spiritually celebrate an event.

I am confused. If you do not believe in any deities why would you want to do puja (host, honor or worship a deity)? What would you be trying to accomplish?

I have not really got a great grasp of the whole of the Quaker movement. I think they are big into peace and preserving the environment. Possibly their concern for nature is one major place where you overlap with them.

Yes. I am pacifist and like simple living.

Essentially Faith\Religion, are all based on "knowing" life or existance is eternal. I found once I accepted that as absolute fact, I learned to surrender my own will to the the Lord's. There should be no boundaries or walls that completely surround you. Shed the notion of belonging to anything other than yourself. Become your own entity.

(Some) Buddhists are very non-deity centered, unless you're talking Chinese Buddhism. They're very pantheist. Be prepared to read a fair amount of texts though. Especially if you're pacifist.
