the bible says that not everyone will enter in to the kingdom of god, why? isn't idolizing jesus all that it takes to be with god?

Matt 7:21-Matt 7:23 NIV “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

so exciting!!!!

I think it speaks to the sins of omission.

what is omitted? obviously idolatry isn't omitted. so what is missing?

The good one could do and doesn't. Jesus requires more than avoiding evil, but to do good.
"Good is to be done and pursued, and evil is to be avoided" Aquinas

In the Confiteor, recited at the beginning of Mass, we confess and ask forgiveness for having 'greatly sinned in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done and in what I have failed to do'

I believe looking at one verse is not going to give you a complete perspective.

I believe that is an obverse view from that of the verse listed in the OP.

OK, how come no original israelite entered the land flowing with milk and honey?

many are called but few are chosen?

Not one of you will enter the land I swore with uplifted hand to make your home, except Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun.

Very interesting verses..

Either

A) they weren't doing to will of God, by prophesying, driving out demons, and performing miracles,

Or,

B) they weren't actually doing them.

@pcarl @Muffled @Disciple of Jesus

Which do you guys think it was?

@Fool

If you recall, Jesus himself was accused of driving out demons, and performing miracles by Beelzebub's authority. If you remember his response, it is worth considering here.

There's also Mark 9:38-41

Not within Catholic, Orthodox, Anglican, and most liberal Protestant circles, as also doing what Jesus taught is necessary. IOW, believing in Jesus, not just some things about him.

See Matthew 25's "Parable of the Sheep & Goats" for an example.

Unknown Friend
[W]e all have the mission of finding and bringing back to the flock (i.e. to the soul's choral harmony) the lost sheep in ourselves. [...] It is not a matter of commandment, but rather of the alchemy of the cross [...] of the alchemical 'marriage of opposites'.

The practical way of doing this is meditation. It is deep meditation which makes present every 'lost sheep' in us [...] To meditate is to think in the presence of God — just as to pray is to speak in the presence of God.

The OP is concerned with 'Sheep and Goats'.

32 and all the nations will be assembled before him. And he will separate them one from another, as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33He will place the sheep on his right and the goats on his left. 34Then the king will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father. Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, 36naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me.’ 37Then the righteous will answer him and say, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? 38When did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? 39When did we see you ill or in prison, and visit you?’ 40 ‘And the king will say to them in reply, ‘Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.’

41 Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you accursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, 43a stranger and you gave me no welcome, naked and you gave me no clothing, ill and in prison, and you did not care for me.’ 44 Then they will answer and say, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or ill or in prison, and not minister to your needs?’ 45He will answer them, ‘Amen, I say to you, what you did not do for one of these least ones, you did not do for me.’ 46 And these will go off to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life."

they weren't actually doing them.

There were true and false prophets, the difference recognized by the quality of their deeds, the fruits. They perform works of healing and exorcism in the name of Jesus (LORD) but live evil lives. The morally corrupt prophets and miracle workers will be rejected by Jesus.
