Idolizing the Bible seems to me to be largely an Evangelical and fundamentalist disease. It occurs when the Bible -- or an interpretation of it -- means more to people than their god itself. Such as when someone insists that Genesis must be taken literally and cannot be legitimately interpreted metaphorically. To put it in Christian terms, it's making the law more important than the spirit of the law.

Not to change the subject. Idololyzing jesus christ as god and not the son of god. Idolizing a human being.

I agree with sunstone, the bible is highly seen more as god than the Word or Christ and God the creator himself. Mistaking christs himelf for words not spoken by him.

Worshiping the act of human sacrifice; the literal beating, killing, and resurrection of christ instead of living the passion themselves worshiping the spirit of the Passion and not objectify the spirit through the "death" of the flesh.

Idolizing their own interpretation as if it were gods voice.

we had two different views of what idolatry is then. mines is much different to yours. if I agree with your definition then your right but my definition is different it's based on scripture which is idolatry to you lol but I respect your reasoning forsure.

To be sure, scripture is not idolatry to me. Only how it is sometimes taken.

I certain respect that heavy and agree that ppl twist scripture to teach idolatry when the scripture does not teach that. for example the Trinity. I believe its idolatry to Worship Jesus based on The Trinity doctrine based on the scripture dont teach Jesus is God

If this were true, you can quote from Christian source and it would be find. Another if this were true, you would not have a special attention to it as a foundational source for truth. Since you feel the bible is gods word, that alone idolizing it because gods word is a person not his apostles words.

2. Christ is followed
3. The bible is a reference guide

Your teacher is Christ
Your source is the creator
Your love is the holy spirit

These existed before the bible. Not as an idol along side god.

Catholics do. Others might have just crosses, Jesus or some thing that looks like abstract art.

Interesting question.

I've always thought the idea that anyone would actually worship an object particularly ridiculous. For example in the golden calf episode, the point was surely that the people were worshipping another god, represented by the statue of the calf that they had made. They were not worshipping the man-made object they had themselves made - that would be too silly for words.

So the use of statues, pictures or music as an aid to devotion is clearly not idolatry. Those Puritans who smashed the stained glass in mediaeval cathedrals were thoughtless idiots.

I suppose it becomes possible to worship another human being, if one is in the throes of infatuation, for example, or under the influence of brainwashing in the personality cult of a totalitarian regime. Some people say that money can be worshipped. I'm doubtful about this. People can get greedily preoccupied with money of course, but I don't think that qualifies as worship.

My initial thoughts, anyway.
