When life sucks ...

InChrist

Free4ever
Usually, when life seems bad for me it is because things are not going my way or circumstances are difficult and I find myself with an attitude of discontent, worry, or ungratefulness. When I remember to be grateful and focus on God's goodness and His eternal love and promises my attitude changes and though my circumstances my not, the way I see them and how I feel does.

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you. Philippians 4:6-9

I'm dealing with some end of life care for an ailing parent and the current US politics has dredged up some bad stuff more than usual. So thanks for the article, it's well timed and I read the whole thing before I realized I was going to.

Greetings all!

What do you do when life sucks?

Any other ideas?

Wishing you all the best!

Hello Geoff.... :)
Whenever I feel useless, or cannot think of anything to do, I get a bit depressed.

1. Clean the place, carpets, walls, windows, pond water etc etc...... a never-ending list of things to clean. I always feel contented after cleaning things.

2. .....walk the little dachshunds, or try to teach them to obey me. This is greatly amusing because dachshunds are so contrary that if you order them to do something that you know they love doing, then they won't do it. This cheers me up immensely.

3. .... ride a bicycle into the woods and go like crazy through the trees, sometimes surprising the wildlife which doesn't expect to see an old idiot on a bike being a fool. I always come home smiling, if bruised, sometimes.

4. .... log in to RF and annoy @Revoltingest and probably everybody else. But bating Revolting is one of the happiest pastimes anybody could wish for. But I try not to annoy the mods 'cos they got digital claws, teeth n' stuff. :D

That's my list for now, although today I intend to cycle round all the charity shops in search of something. I'll figure out what I need to search for over a mug of tea before I leave. :D

Please.....I hope you mean “baiting” rather than “bating’”.
Someone will explain the vase difference.

A few quotes from that huge site a few days ago ...

“Happiness is letting go of what you think your life is supposed to look like and celebrating it for everything that it is.”

~ Mandy Hale

“Happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned, worn or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace, and gratitude.”

~ Denis Waitley

“Happiness will never come to those who don’t appreciate what they already have."
