Nothing "satanic" about it. It's a popularised and secularised Christian festival where people get to dress up and kids get too much sugar. Some people just can't cope with the idea of other people having fun, and their knee jerk reaction is to claim there's something sinister about it.

It was unknown in Australia until the commercial world saw an opportunity to make more money from the 'sheeples' who blindly follow whatever seems trendy.

But if we identify as Christians, then the origins of any celebration are important. When Israel adopted spiritistic practices, God punished them, so it must be important to God.

WHERE DID IT COME FROM?
The Origin of Some Halloween Customs and Symbols

VAMPIRES, WEREWOLVES, WITCHES, ZOMBIES: These creatures have long been associated with the evil spirit world.

CANDY: The ancient Celts tried to appease wicked spirits with sweets. The church later encouraged celebrants to go from house to house on All Hallows’ Eve, asking for food in return for a prayer for the dead. This custom eventually became Halloween’s trick or treat.

COSTUMES: The Celts wore frightening masks so that evil spirits would mistakenly think the wearers were spirits and would leave them alone. The church gradually amalgamated pagan customs with the feasts of All Souls and All Saints. Later, celebrants went from house to house wearing costumes of saints, angels, and devils.

PUMPKINS: Carved, candlelit turnips were displayed to repel evil spirits. To some, the candle in the turnip represented a soul trapped in purgatory. Later, carved pumpkins were more commonly used.

But what are people celebrating really....?

Thousands of Wiccans, who follow ancient Celtic rituals, still call Halloween by the ancient name Samhain and consider it to be the most sacred night of the year. Christians caught up in the tradition, ‘don’t realize it, but they’re actually celebrating their holiday with real witches and devil worshippers. Nice eh?

No thanks.....the world is evil enough without promoting all the things God hates, even one day of the year.

Its origins are sinister and I think its good to remember that God was around when the originals were being celebrated....he knows what people are really celebrating and its breaking his laws. (Deuteronomy 18:9-12)

You could always. be that awful house that gives out cringe worth 'christian' comics with their candy.

Though all our culture holiday's have some kind of pagan root in them. Must be a boring time for you to not celebrate any.

Or the little Moana's and Spidermen.

Poor kids.:smilingimp:

Anyway, it's not really a pagan or satanic holiday but classically one where people remember their ancestors because they thought they could hear them. Hate them too? :D

I've always been amused when adults project their beliefs onto innocent people, especially in the case of modern Halloween where it's nothing but fun and games and candy for children.

No one's forcing you to participate. But with the best will in the world, evil must be a willful choice, you can't be "tricked" into it. So even if it was totally started by Satan, if people participate with innocent intentions, there's nothing wrong with it.

Beyond that, given some of the demonstrably wrong/near slanderous beliefs JWs have about non-JWs, you'll forgive me if I take your claims with a grain of salt.

Halloween is all about glorifying all things evil and wicked, the powers of darkness are trying to attract people into the Occult. People don't know how dangerous and serious it is to dabble in the Occult, many folks have consulted the spirit world and invited Demons into their lives then they can't get rid of them.

There are millions of people who are possessed by Demons, the Doctors diagnose them as mentally ill but they don't realize that they are possessed. It's very hard to get rid of Demons when they posses a person, it takes a long time and a lot of prayer.

Most suicides are caused by Demonic oppression, the main aim of demons is to cause their victim to committ suicide. Satan and His Demons are masters of deception, their main aim is to cause people to think that they don't exist so they can get easy access to a person soul.

The world is full of Demonized people, we all thin k the person is crazy or has a mental illness but all of these mass murderers and war criminals and wicked people are actually possessed by Demons so we should wake up and face the facts.

Drugs open the door to the Demonic realm, they open the person up to the spiritual realm where the Demons can enter the person and cause them to commit murder and suicide, they may take a while to deprave the person to bring them into total depravity then they make them commit evil acts.

On the contrary...I save a heap of time and money because I am not a slave to the system.....I take my holidays whenever I want to.....I buy presents for people because I love them, not because a date on a calendar says I have to. I celebrate what I want to celebrate.....the commercial system dictates to the world when to spend their money and people line up to be fleeced. I think its really sad. A fool and his money....you know...

I look at all the harried people scrambling around trying to find Christmas presents every year, even for people they don't even like and they spend a fortune on food and drinks they can barely afford....and I just have to thank God for releasing me from all that garbage. Its much more fun and a whole lot less stressful without it. You should try it sometime. Put the money towards a holiday. :)

No one could.

But with the best will in the world, evil must be a willful choice, you can't be "tricked" into it.

Really? You don't think the devil is a deceiver? Do you know what deception is? Do you know when you are being deceived...or is it later when you find out that you feel stupid?

So even if it was totally started by Satan, if people participate with innocent intentions, there's nothing wrong with it.

That is totally your choice...you don't have to answer to me. You know that the day is celebrated by devil worshippers as their special day, so if you want that sort of company, go right ahead. The costumes should tell you something.....the more evil looking they are the better for some.

Beyond that, given some of the demonstrably wrong/near slanderous beliefs JWs have about non-JWs, you'll forgive me if I take your claims with a grain of salt.

We don't slander anyone. Though we will call people out for teaching lies in the name of God or his Christ. You can take whatever you like with a grain of salt.....it won't change anything. The lie won't magically become the truth just because you don't want to believe it.

For the sake of the mentally ill, don't go around speaking such utter nonsense. Those with a mental illness are ill, just like those with a cold or flu. No demons are involved. And with proper treatment you'll find that prayer is not necessary. There is nothing more "supernatural" or "otherworldly" about this than there is in a case of the measles.
The world is full of Demonized people, we all thin k the person is crazy or has a mental illness but all of these mass murderers and war criminals and wicked people are actually possessed by Demons so we should wake up and face the facts.
Actually they too are regular human beings like the rest of us. It's nice to pretend they have demons or some other inhuman quality about them, but they are just as human as you or I. There are no "demonic forces" at work.

Drugs open the door to the Demonic realm,
Is that why a bunch of people have found their life is manageable on anti-depressants, anxiolytics, mood stabilizers, and anti-psychotics?

You know that the day is celebrated by devil worshippers as their special day,
Not really. It's not really important to Satanists, and what we are left with today is a heavily commercialized and bastardized modern incarnation of what once began as Celtic tradition.
And have you considered that parents rushing their kids around trick or treating, those going to an adult party, and Wiccans are all celebrating something different? For most it's the start of the season of gluttonous consumption that has become tradition, for some it's an important day of significance. For some it's just another day, though some of us take delight in the grisly sights and societal permission to intensely scare people.

The costumes should tell you something.....the more evil looking they are the better for some.
It can tell you a bit about the individual wearing a costume, but not much beyond that. Me, I'm one of those "some," who gets off on scaring people, enjoys tears and wet pants, and sharing with the world the "dark and morbid" things that go through my head on a regular basis. I've angered parents, redefined costume policy and rules, and have pushed how far it is socially acceptable to scare people on the night of scary costumes and horror movies.

"Speaking of the ancient Celtic year Prof. Rhys observes, “Now as the Celts were in the habit formerly of counting winters, and of giving precedence in their reckoning to night and winter over day and summer, I should argue that the last day of the year in the Irish story of Diarmait’s death meant the eve of November of All-Halloween, the night before the Irish Samhain, and known in Welsh as Nos Galangaeaf, or the Night of the winter Calends. But there is no occasion to rest on this alone, for we have the evidence of Cormac’s Glossary that the month before the be ginning of winter was the last month, so that the first day of the first month of winter was also the first day of the year.” Various superstitious customs are then alluded to, showing that the eve of November was considered to be the proper time for prophecy or the appearance of goblins; and the Professor then closes the discussion regarding the above-mentioned last day of the Celtic year with the remark that “It had been fixed upon as the time of all others, when the Sun-god whose power had been gradually falling off since the great feast associated with him on the first of August, succumbed to his enemies, the powers of darkness and winter.

It was their first hour of triumph after an interval of subjection, and the popular imagination pictured them stalking aboard with more than ordinary insolence and aggressiveness; and if it comes to giving individuality and form to the deformity of darkness, to describe it as a sow, black or grisly, with neither ears nor tail, is not perhaps very readily surpassed as an instance of imaginative aptitude.” The shows that the ancient Celtic year closed with the season of autumn and the beginning of winter which corresponded with the last day of October, or the eve of November, and was marked by festivals which indicated the victory of darkness over light. As regards the middle of the year or summer in the Celtic traditions, the same authority further informs us that “The Lammas fairs and meetings forming the Lugnassad in ancient Ireland marked the victorious close of the sun’s contest with the powers of darkness and death, when the warmth and light of that luminary’s rays, after routing the colds and blights, were fast bringing the crops to maturity. This, more mythologically expressed, was represented as the final crushing of Fomori and Fir Bolg, the death of their king and the nullifying of their malignant spells, and as the triumphant return of Lug with peace and plenty to marry the maiden Erinn and to enjoy a well-earned banquet, at which the fairy host of dead ancestors was probably not forgotten.:
