Who will be the eighth king?

Revelation 17:9-11 New International Version (NIV)
9 “This calls for a mind with wisdom. The seven heads are seven hills on which the woman sits. 10 They are also seven kings. Five have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come; but when he does come, he must remain for only a little while. 11 The beast who once was, and now is not, is an eighth king. He belongs to the seven and is going to his destruction.

Five former presidents are currently alive. Trump is, Pence isn't yet, but when he is he won't be long. The eighth king will be one of the seven who once was president. Will Trump be the eight king? :)

In my opinion, interpreting the US to have any part of the book of Revelations is thinking that is far too narrow. America will likely be like a flyspeck on the windshield of history. And according to a History Professor I had yonks ago, our time has about run out. America will die with only a whimper. Will we even be remembered when The Christ comes?

The World Mourns Babylon’s Fall
The kings of the earth who committed fornication and lived luxuriously with her will weep and lament for her, when they see the smoke of her burning, 10 standing at a distance for fear of her torment, saying, ‘Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! For in one hour your judgment has come.’

Not that I like the idea of the US dying with a whimper but certainly nations come and go.

I've heard many variations on the "truth" of Revelations and have concluded that nobody has any idea what it means. Just a lot of speculation.

I never understood the idea of God providing a revelation that's beyond man's comprehension anyways. Perhaps it's to show after the events took place, God was always in control.

I am definitely not a "pew sitter" Christian and believe that there is a rational reason, that can be proved through the evidence if we were more intelligent. For me, the incidents in the Bible that people try to write off have their basis in fact. There are less than wholesome individuals at work in this world, who for their own reasons, seek to obscure history. Religious folk don't get a free ride as far as I am concerned.

The “eighth king”. See how it’s worded? It “once was, but is not, yet is” — look at how other translations render it.

What political entity (as we see in Daniel, what beasts represent), does this fit? It ‘was, then it wasn’t, then it came back’? And it “belongs” to the seven?

If you think about it carefully, there’s really only application: it “once was” the League of Nations. When WWII broke out, it was disbanded....it “was not”. Then, after the war, it resurfaced...”yet is”... as the United Nations.

Think hitler was the first horseman with the Nazi regime, second horse was like the Cold war with fear of death spreading global disease. Your kings sound like oracles.

I'm thinking any real world target for Revelations has come and gone long ago...and as with any such deep experience of the psyche, it has more to say about the psyche of the individual than it does about the culture that individual lives in.

The 'political' beast of Revelation 17:8 proves to be the old League of Nations.
Since the United Nations replaced the 'League' then the U.N. proves to be the 8th king of verse 11.
As in the past God used the 'political/military ' to do his will such as using the Roman armies to destroy un-faithful Jerusalem in the year 70. So, God will once again use the 'political /military' against Christendom ( apostate Christianity ) for proving un-faithful to Him and his Word.

I find the word ' revelation ' simply means a revealing, so the Bible book of Revelation is a revealing.
Revelation is a revealing or a coming attraction about mankind's happy future :D .
Mankind will see the return of the Genesis "Tree of Life" for healing of earth's nations according to Revelation 22:2.
This is why we are all invited the pray the invitation of Revelation 22:20 for Jesus to come !
Come and bring the benefits of Rev. 22:2 to earth for us as also described in Isaiah 35th chapter.
So, to me that is Not beyond our comprehension.
Also, as with the rest of the Bible, Revelation has corresponding cross-reference verses or passages which shed light on comprehending Revelation including the book of Daniel.

There was a professor I think his name was Alexander Tyler in the 1800's who taught a democracy can't last much more than about 200 years because once the people find out how to get money out of the treasury that causes economic collapse. Perhaps a bad economy can make the monies the ' churches ' have amassed look easy for the political taking. So, instead of America dying out what will die out first is Christendom (false Christianity).

Yes, we will be remembered when Christ comes because the coming 'time of separation' of Matthew 25:31-33,37,40 is near at hand.
The figurative humble 'sheep'-like people can remain alive on Earth, and continue to live on Earth, continue living on Earth right into calendar Day One of Jesus' coming 1,000-year governmental rule over Earth begins.

I never heard of Yellowstone being referred to as a city or a woman, whereas Babylon the Great is Not only described as a city but as a woman of ill repute.
Babylon the Great has been in bed with earth's kings, earth's rulers.
After all, she had done their bidding.
When the political wanted soldiers, the religions, the churches, even used the pulpit as a recruiting station so that parents would sacrifice their young on the Altar of War as it that is the same as the Altar of God.
So, as ancient Babylon was a center of false worship, the religions of the world are a greater religious Babylon or Babylon the Great.

So no one knew what Revelation 17:9-11 meant until the "League of Nations" returned as the "United Nations"???

Hopefully Trump won't have a stroke (head wound) requiring Pence to take over for a little while before Trump returns to office (head wound healed, the whole world is filled with wonder no doubt) as the eighth king...

DAYS SINCE TRUMP TOOK OFFICE - Count Up
Days from Today Calculator
Occult Day | Days Of The Year

...as of now Trump has been in office 612 days, come Sunday 18 November 2018 Trump will have been in office 666 days which happens to be "Occult Day"... what better day for Trumps transformation, right?

Fun! :)
