NRA and Thomas the Train?

Wow. Too bad George Carlin isn't still alive to conduct her to a crushing verbal assault over how stupid her rant is.

The NRA and KKK are "birds of a feather". They have a natural affinity for each other because both are extremist right-wing organizations.
You cannot perceive differences?
Oh, dear.
No wonder political discourse is in da terlit.

Btw, Thomas isn't a "train".
He's a cheeky fussy little tank engine.

“Thomas the Tank is now bringing gender balance to the show by adding girl trains. Seriously,” she snipped about the preschool show, which she dubbed “creepy.” Loesch ranted that the show doesn’t need “ethnic diversity” when it “literally has no ethnicities because they’re trains. …"

It's perfectly logical... Trains don't have genders or ethnicities so they should all be portrayed as American males and anything else is communism.

Of course they focus on different things. That was not my point. My point is that they've got a natural affinity for each other because they see the world in much the same way. And before there is the obvious objection, I'm talking about the national NRA organization and not all individual members although most go along with their extremist positions.

You're just reinforcing the earlier problem, ie, equating the KKK with the NRA.
You can be better than that.

'Disturbing as hell': NRA slammed for giving 'Thomas & Friends' characters a KKK makeover

Thank you NRA for your opinions on Thomas the Train. When was it only a liberal ideal to include females into the equation?

And why does the NRA care about this so much to deface the trains with KKK hoods?

She is attacking the change as it was based on supposedly parents have a concern the show was racist...... She is attacking the pandering by the show-runners and the dense parents.

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
I don't get the point of the hoods unless it's a weird way of using reverse psychology in a weird way.

I guess the message was intended to convey that Thomas the Tank Engine is it stands is so racist in past episodes they needed to diversify to show they were not.

The hoods were representing how liberals viewed Thomas the Tank Engine before the introduction of women and minorities. Thinking it was all racist to begin with necessitating that they must suddenly diversify the program right away.

Either way it clearly backfired.

I posted my own thread on this...which I agree to being deleted.

Why is the NRA even going there? It must be that they are highly racist in membership even though it has nothing to do with their organizations mandate. The NRA is the new KKK and acting as an organization that meets with an excuse that it is about guns. That is the message of this content.

Made America Racist Again.

I watched the clip of Dana Loesch...she is way over-reacting and that is the problem. So what if a cartoon decides to create characters that viewers with different backgrounds might find interesting. Why take it so personally?

The KKK hood image was meant as a joke but the problem is that when you react to such changes so extremely you make them out to be an issue for you personally in such a way that you reveal your cluelessness about the experience and perspectives of others. This is why TV shows might make an effort to include people from different backgrounds, because of people like this that get all embarrassed or uppity just because something a little different comes along. So this TV show seeks to depotentiate that experience where someone can just pretend that the world is all about people just like you because that expectation IS the problem. It isn't about racism any more really, it is about xenophobia.

She is a classic example of the problem with race relations but she is also a classic example of cluelessness about it.

Ya know...this racism accusation could be made for the NRA's foes.
Democrats in particular use their anti-gun rights arguments to prevent black
people from being able to defend themselves....& being a threat to white folk.
If only government has guns, then black folk are more controllable. It's the
same reason they keep blacks down with a punishing welfare system.
Good....now we've all called each other "racist".
