Heaven and Hell Are Parties?

BilliardsBall

Veteran Member
I led someone to Christ yesterday afternoon, a very nice fellow who trusted Jesus for salvation, and it got me thinking. When people say, "I want to party in Hell with my friends!" do they realize they are saying they have friends like:

  • Hitler
  • Pol Pot
  • Mao Tse Tung
  • Stalin
and do people realize the most important thing at a party? It's not the food, entertainment, decorations, venue or time. It's the people.

Heaven is a party where the mix of people contains only those who won't muss a utopia by never sinning/hurting others/causing others pain--the transformed.

Do you realize that it could be joking because not all of us believe in Heaven and Hell? I say "I'm going to Hell in a handbasket"; "I'm on a fast track to Hell"; "if there were a Hell I'd be going there". But of course for me there is no Hell or even Heaven as Abrahamics believe in it.

Partying with Stalin sounds like an interesting prospect. Although if both Heaven and Hell are parties, then I would assume that Hell is the one with stale beer and STD's.
Eh, they're easy enough to acquire without being dead.

Just a party?!?!?!

Heaven and Hell? Needs more explanation that is relevant. Sounds like the mythical Black and White scenario of the war against good and evil. It depends on which church or religion you belong to as to which side of the fence you are describing. Some put you on the Hot side,

You're forgetting Christopher Hitchens, Charles Darwin, Bertrand Russell, Carl Sagan, Albert Einstein, Marilyn Monroe, and Cleopatra. Sounds like a fun party to me.

Aye, if they're in Hell, I don't see what the big deal is. It'll be better than being surrounded by a veritable herd of Christians. What a horrible thought, in fact.

Yes, but you'd also have ...
  • Jimi Hendrix
  • David Bowie
  • Jim Morrison
  • Christopher Hitchens
  • Mark E Smith

and you wouldn't have to put up with...
  • Mother Theresa
  • Mary Whitehouse
  • Harold Camping
  • The Popes
It's a no brainer. Hell is the best place for a party

Considering Hitler is a self-confessed believer in Jesus what makes you think he'd be in the Christian Hell?
Hitler was Catholic, he had religion, but his actions were antichrist. I have watched several in depth documentaries about the life of Hitler and his life did not display faith in the God of the Bible or trust in Jesus Christ as his Savior. If he believed in any other god besides himself, it was the god of this world, the devil.

Heaven:
John Lennon
Jesus
Elvis
Lou Reed
Etc
I know what party I would go to
Well if John Lennon and Lou Reed can get in - they've moved the goal posts and lowered the standards

John Lennon quotes.. "God is a concept by which we measure our pain", "I don't believe in Bible", "I don't believe in Jesus"

Lou Reed said "that although he was Jewish, his real god was rock 'n' roll"

I'd have to believe heaven and hell exist according to the Bible first. I don't so, not worried. :D

Christian understandings of hell were basically stolen from the Greeks, but they took out the part where "everyone goes to the same place". They didn't even come up with heaven, but rather stole Elysium (which is actually in the Greek hell, or Hades/Underworld). So, the bad news is antiquity says everyone is going to hell and Christianity is just a false revision. :D

Hell with a catholic, a georgian orthodox christian and 2 ex Buddhists (one with a catholic upbringing)? Let me think about it.

Interesting though that heaven is exactly what you imagine.

I don't know. All the "good" people in the Old Testament as well as the Almighty sounds far worse than Hitler, Pol Pot , Mao, and Stalin put together.

Anyways I'm privy to the Mark Twain quote, "Heaven for climate, Hell for company".

What in your religious faith and training educated you to make a joke of what other religious people believe?

I need more explanation as to why people should prefer enjoying eternity with God and not with Hitler and Stalin?!

What do you mean, "Christians stole" something in the OT to begin. Read Daniel 12.

I believe you're a bit mixed up if you feel that the God who loves you enough to have died for you is WORSE THAN HITLER.

Is this the result of atheism or drug abuse or ... ?
