Life on other planets in our Solar System is dubious but possible. Life on other planets in the universe is a surety. Intelligent life is less likely. Look at our planet. 4.5 billion years of history and at best a couple of million years of intelligent life, probably less. But even with those bad numbers there are still probably between 10 and 100 planets with intelligent life in our galaxy alone. For just the observable universe that means on the order of a trillion intelligent species. As to religion, who knows?

We can't be sure if there is presently intelligent life elsewhere beyond our own planet, but there is strong evidence intelligent life beyond human intelligence on Earth has existed. Extraterrestrial intelligence has indeed left its mark in our genetic code as evident by how the numeric and semantic message of 037 appears in our genetic code. Each codon relates to 3 other particular codons having the same particular type of initial nucleobase and sequential nucleobase subsequently then followed by a different ending nucleobase. Half of these 4 set of codon groups ( whole family codons ) each code for the same particular amino acid. The other half of those 4 set of codon groups ( split codons ) don't code for the same amino acid. So then, in the case of whole family codons, there are 37 amino acid peptide chain nucleons for each relevant nucleobase determinant of how a particular amino acid gets coded. Start codons express 0 at the beginning of 37 Hence, the meaningful numeric and semantic message of 037 gets unambiguously and factually conveyed to us descendants of our cosmic ancestor(s)with our genetic code invented by a superior intelligence beyond that of anybody presently bound to Earth.

“There is no plausible chemical logic to couple directly the triplets and the amino acids. In other words, the principles of chemistry where not the sought essence of the genetic code”

“The zero is the supreme abstraction of arithmetic. Its use by any alphabet, including the genetic code, can be an indicator of artificiality.”

"The place-value decimal system represented through digital symmetry of the numbers divisible by prime number (PN 037). This arithmetical syntactic feature is an innate attribute of the genetic code. The PN 037 notation with a leading zero emphasizes zero's equal participation in the digital symmetry. Numbers written by identical digits are devised by PN 037*3=111 and 1+1+1=3 and appear regularly [from the figure: 037*6 =222 and 2+2+2=6, 037*9=333 and 3+3+3 =9, 037*4=444 and 4+4+4=12, 037*15=555 and 5+5+5=15, 037*18=666 and 6+6+6=18, 037*21=777 and 7+7+7 =21. 037*24 =888 and 8+8+8=24, 037*27=999 and 9+9+9=27.)"

"There is a complete set of information symbols utilizing the decimal syntax 111, 222, 333, 444, 555, 666, 777, 888, 999 in the genetic code. Each of these symbols consists uniformly of a carrier (balanced nucleons) and a meaning (the decimal syntax)."

"The first information system emerged on the earth as primordial version of the genetic code and genetic texts. The natural appearance of arithmetic power in such a linguistic milieu is theoretically possible and practical for producing information systems of extremely high efficiency. In this case, the arithmetic symbols should be incorporated into an alphabet, i.e. the genetic code. A number is the fundamental arithmetic symbol produced by the system of numeration. If the system of numeration were detected inside the genetic code, it would be natural to expect that its purpose is arithmetic calculation e.g., for the sake of control, safety, and precise alteration of the genetic texts. The nucleons of amino acids and the bases of nucleic acids seem most suitable for embodiments of digits. These assumptions were used for the analyzing the genetic code.

The compressed, life-size, and split representation of the Escherichia coli and Euplotes octocarinatus code versions were considered simultaneously. An exact equilibration of the nucleon sums of the amino acid standard blocks and/or side chains was found repeatedly within specified sets of the genetic code. Moreover, the digital notations of the balanced sums acquired, in decimal representation, the unique form 111, 222, …, 999. This form is a consequence of the criterion of divisibility by 037. The criterion could simplify some computing mechanism of a cell if any and facilitate its computational procedure.

"Numerous arithmetical regularities of nucleon numbers of canonical amino acids for quite different systematizations of the genetic code, which are dominantly based on decimal number 037, indicate the hidden existence of a more universal ordering principle. Mathematical analysis of number 037 reveals that it is a unique decimal number from which an infinite set of self-similar numbers can be derived with the nested numerical, geometrical, and arithmetical properties, thus enabling the nested coding and computing in the (bio)systems by geometry and resonance. The omnipresent fractal structural and dynamical organization, as well as the intertwining of quantum and classical realm in the physical and biological systems could be just the consequence of such coding and computing."

Furthermore, two years ago, a couple of astronomers detected a peculiar periodic spectral modulations in a small fraction of solar type stars observed in a Fourier transform analysis of 2.5 million spectra in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey where there is rapidly pulsed artificial light signals detected around 234 out of all the many numerous surveyed Sun-like stars. The cause of these peculiar periodic spectral modulations could be very likely be advanced laser technology from extraterrestrial intelligence from around these 234 Sun-like star systems.

These astronomers write in their peer-reviewed journal article: "Finally, we consider the possibility, predicted in a previous published paper, that the signals are caused by light pulses generated by ETI to makes us aware of their existence. We find that the detected signals have exactly the shape of an ETI signal predicted in the previous publication and are therefore in agreement with this hypothesis. The fact that they are only found in a very small fraction of stars within a narrow spectral range centered near the spectral type of the Sun is also in agreement with the ETI hypothesis. However, at this stage, this hypothesis needs to be confirmed with further work.".

Once another reliable and credible source, which in this case will be the Breakthrough Initiative Listen Program, has also observed and verified these periodic spectral modulation signals, then they will have ruled out measurement errors as to the cause of these periodic spectral modulation signals. Then there will be no other known cause other than that of advance laser technology as the source of these periodic rapidly pulsating spectral modulation signals from around these 234 Sun-like star systems. So then, this will be very strong evidence for extraterrestrial intelligence.

We humans presently bound to Earth couldn't effectively communicate our religious systems of faith to these alien civilizations, because of the language barriers between our planets and also because of the lengthy time span involved with interstellar communications that'd take several light years to reach from one planetary system to the next.

I am intrigued as to what alien civilisation would be able to impose a 100GHz modulation on the entire light output from a star. It seems to me quite difficult to argue that an ETI explanation is the most likely.

FWIW, I tend to side with Mayr in the Sagan-Mayr debate.

Mayr has been shown to be wrong on the number of planets, and the number of potentially inhabitable planets, but he may have still been correct about SETI financing. SETI looked for signals in the radio wave frequencies and that could be a very transient feature of intelligent species.

Correct. But I still can't shake the sense that Saganism carries with it the taint of evolution-as-progress (and I really, really like Sagan). It's an argument I've made before albeit unsuccessfully, which is fine with me -- in this case I would love being wrong.

Like Mars use to have life on it long time ago it could in the future. Where is Jesus then does he come back to Mars as the savior and relive the new testament? How will they know about Christianity if the Christian way is the right way?

You obviously haven't read 'Jesus on Mars'. It is classed as sci-fi, however...who knows?:)

Here's the summary from wiki:
An unmanned scientific probe sent to Mars discovers an alien artifact. A follow up robotic explorer lands and verifies that an enormous alien ship is partially buried on Mars. So a manned expedition is sent to explore this apparently abandoned alien ship. The expedition members are captured and taken underground to the habitat occupied by a combined society of humans living harmoniously with the alien Krsh.

The expedition learns that, in previous millennia, the technologically advanced Krsh were won over to the religion of the humans. This society practices Judaism but accepts Jesus as their Messiah. Included in their Bible is the Book of Matthiaswhich is the testament written by Judas Iscariot. However, unlike mainstream Christianity, this society views Jesus as a man and not as God (see Nicene Creed).

Originally, the Krsh had arrived at Earth on an exploratory mission. To study humans, the Krsh had offered to bring injured humans to their spaceship for medical treatment. Then, the ship was attacked by another alien species which is especially hostile and xenophobic. Even though the attack was repelled and the ship of the xenophobic aliens was destroyed, the Krsh's own ship was damaged. So they landed on Mars to hide from more potential hostility which never arrived. During the years of camouflage, the Krsh and humans crew joined together into a unified society.

Halfway through the novel, we learn that Jesus himself miraculously arrived among these people almost two thousand years earlier and had been living with them ever since. The proximity of Jesus is overwhelming and convincing both in terms of concrete, scientifically verifiable miracles as well as a strong visceral presence. This proximity convinces even the scientifically advanced Krsh. Also, three of the four crew members accept this Jesus and convert to this hybrid form of Judaism and Christianity. The fourth crew member, an atheist and the only female crew member, commits suicide. She is subsequently resurrected using advanced technology but not before she suffers brain damage that erases much of her personality.

Towards the end of the novel, Jesus leads a flotilla of spaceships back to Earth in a reenactment of the Second Coming. Although desiring peaceful interaction and offering immortality and boundless manna, they are prepared for hostile action. As can be expected, Jesus is accused of being the Antichrist.

Such doubts afflict Richard Orme who is the astronaut leading the manned expedition from Earth. In the penultimate chapter, Orme wavers on his conversion and submission to this Martian Jesus. He then prepares to assassinate the Jesus but throws himself upon a grenade from another assassin so as to save Jesus. In the final chapter, he awakens naked and disoriented to discover that he has been resurrected by Jesus while the world media looked on. Then, Orme reaffirms his commitment and the novel ends abruptly with a sense of the years of impending struggle against the forces of evil.

Because maybe they're non-delusional creatures?

That's a big maybe, but delusional or not I assume aliens would have their own mythologies that had nothing to do with Earth. If any of our mythologies have any merit, theirs certainly might as well. It would make far more sense to me if there was different gods for different planets. Its a pretty contained ecosystem for the most part. Maybe this is how gods fight? Make some little meat-soldiers and turn 'em loose. As good a delusion as any other, anyway. :p

Just what people need, another Jesus.

Come to think of it that famous face on Mars did look a bit like Jesus if you add on some hair and a beard.

Baha'is believe Sentient life is likely on other worlds and that God can send His Manifestations to other worlds... Someday we may have contact with intelligent life from other worlds and they may have equivalent Messengers and Prophets.

‘Abdu’l-Bahá stated there are other worlds than ours which are inhabited by beings capable of knowing God.

(Shoghi Effendi, The Light of Divine Guidance v II, p. 79)

Baha'u'llah revealed the following long before there were any exo-planets known to science:

"Know thou that every fixed star hath its own planets, and every planet its own creatures, whose number no man can compute."

Imho, the challenge lies in studying the martian language, printing the bible or quran in martian language, deriding and wiping out the martian religions, engaging in extensive propaganda of the perils of hell and joys of heaven and conditioning them repeatedly till the martians turn out to be hardcore christian or muslim fundamentalists who are eager to spread the faith to the rest of the aliens in the solar system and beyond.
