Link between faith and health

I’ve read several articles about this topic but could not find studies.
Is there evidences of this link between faith and (good/better/longer) health?

I don't know of any, but I'd certainly think there'd be a connection. Anything, factual or not, that's taken as faith to help a person can have psychological benefits.

If I have faith that all donkeys love me, and that such a faith reduces my level of stress, my health has benefited from that faith.

Don't know about donkey studies, but "the Power of Positive Thinking" has been around for quite a while. On the other hand, I'm a big "lilies of the field"-er.
I'm also a student of the fig tree, which I am finding quite difficult.

You mean like having faith that God will heal your cancer?

Let's assume there was a correlation to faith and health.

Where do you think the correlation of science and health would be on the same scale as faith and health?

I've heard of it in religions where faith is used on replace of medicine. I can't remember the religion but I looked it up months ago.

But anything thing makes someone happy say exercising or a passion or prayer changes ones physiology and mental health. It helps being at less risk of heart conditions and illnesses brought by stress changing sugar levels and blood pressure to name a few.

Spirituality or faith is for some reason seperates from the body and material but they actual define and compliment each other in someone's over all health.

That would be no contest.

If it wasn't for science we would obviously be far less long-lived and much sicker.

Unlike science, faith simply doesn't actually do anything when it comes to health itself except maybe instill a false sense of confidence for what's essentially a gamble, that something will or will not work off the fly

Faith if anything decreases the state of worrying and anxiety. Supposedly... So there could be health condition that correlate to anxiety issues.

But, I'm actually trying to support a scientific correlation.

Prayer (if deep) and meditation bring benefits. Not sure about faith as such, but it can lead to deep meditation and prayer. There's also the downsides for those whose faith is against useful medical science.

I would say faith would be far more detrimental than healthy.

It clouds a person's sound judgement and common sense.

Hello.

That is an opinion. Research would suggest you are wrong. Sure, thinking you can pray away cancer, for example, is silly and detrimental to your well-being but that is an extreme example.

Peace

I was thinking of the oftentimes tragic consequences that comes from practicing faith.

I'm not aware of any empirical data exclusively focusing on faith.

If it's passive and not clouding one's judgement in an empirical way, I can see how it can contribute to having a sense of personal well-being from a mental standpoint.

Maybe that's where you could look.

My view is that they're the same, just perceived differently.
"Thy will be done in earth..."

Not sure I see that. I think far more has been done to improve health and longevity through science than through faith. At least, one can demonstrate the efficacy of modern medicine. Faith tends to take advantage of the placebo effect.

Hmm... maybe I shouldn't go here but...
I'm a mental universe adherent. I feel that faith is how we move in this universe. That science is one of the ways we focus our faith. I'm thinking the efficacy of modern medicine is dependent on faith in it.

Yeah, this would be a discussion for a whole new thread.
