An Unscientific Theory On Religion Forums

Sorry for the incorrect designation. The term "Bible Believer" led me to think you were Christian. I didn't know there were any bibles other than the Christian Bible.

There are roughly 40 major variants of the bible in circulation today, although this number is small it is suggested there are around 200,000 distinctly different printings of the bible in existence.

Over the last 22 years or so I've been for the most part pretty active on forums like this, religious forums, and I've noticed something over the last decade. I see it here as well. The predominate participant in religious discussion are irreligious. Outspoken or militant skeptics of the Bible and spirituality. Now I understand that my message tends to alienate everyone, believer and unbeliever alike, and truth be told I prefer discussions with atheist because they are more practical than the average believer, who is idealistic IMO, so I'm not complaining, but I am of the opinion that the reason for this is that the believer is quite comfortable in America, but the atheist (in one form or another, I use the term skeptic) is a somewhat repressed minority, politically and socially.

Do you think there is any truth to that?
So it would be the reverse in Western European forums. Is it?

You really should try to get your hate for yourself and others under control.

I don't have an ounce of hate in my body.

You really should look into the history of that attack. It did not begin under George Bush. Clinton was the president when they began to train. What is amazing is that much smaller secrets cannot be kept by the government and yet you believe that a conspiracy orders of magnitude larger is somehow still being kept secret.

I dare say one must look further back to Ronald Reagan with Operation Cyclone.

one could look back to Carter's incompetence from there and continually move back. But the actual attack on the Twin Towers began during the Clinton administration.

America has been getting kicked in the *** repeatedly for it's own foreign policy. Supporting insurgencies and then later abandoning them or dumping money into dictatorships only the have it tear us a new one. Yet our government wants to continually cut corners on the cost of war.

Like pulling out of Iraq and just leaving all the stuff we brought over cause it was cheaper to leave it there. You can find the equivalent of the thought process in apartment complexes in America. Go to the big dumpster in any apartment complex and you will find working appliances that former tenants were too lazy to carry out themselves. As it would have been more convenient to just buy new stuff.

I should be more clear, middle to upper to high income apartment complexes. Those people are insanely wasteful.

It's gross.

Curious thought.

Do you think the manner in which our government operates is expressed in the behaviors of its citizens?

Speak softly and carry a big stick, these days it seems to be screaming and carrying a big stick policy.

How sick, any credibility you thought you had just flew out the window

Have you ever, once, seen a fundy admit to even the tiniest
error on their part?

They are constitutionally incapable of it.

The only real reason to engage with one in a discusison
is as an exercise in cultural anthropology.

(see, the word "apology" almost appears there, it is close as you will get)

[QUOTE="RothschildSaxeCoburgGotha, post: 5658247, member: 64381"]I don't have an ounce of hate in my body.

Maybe, instead of denying it, ask why so many see it
and you cannot?

Maybe you could try a little insight, and ask yourself
what it is about you that gives off such an odor.

Go to an apartment complex where the have those extra large dumpsters, and dig around in there and you will find fully functioning TV's, Microwaves, fax machines computer monitors, chairs, couches, desks, tables, the works. If you are moving into an even marginally ritzy place, chances are you can furnish your entire apartment, carpet included with not trashy stuff. People are simply too lazy to move their stuff and would rather buy new stuff instead.

I really feel true despair for people who have to lie to justify their own faith
