Nah. The book is the messenger.
Lol. Ever heard this? "The bible says"...

A rambling morning muse forgive me just some loose thoughts.

weird isn't it, we have an animistic view of something we wrote, then proceeded to be confused by, that then takes on this animistic quality and it then by magic is determining the landscape.

I wonder, if we have had an esoteric text for 2,000 years that we wrote. And over time we are befuddled by it, and eventually pretty far removed from.The reality of it, and we are confused, how much more so may we be confused about nature which is a that which we did not create?

Is nature a something not created by us easier to understand than that. Which we did create? And of course it's very natural when something we did create, takes on magic.powers greater than intended, that we begin to believe that which we did not create is also a created. We have a created, telling us "the bible says" talking about nature and we assume that that which we did not create is also created like the book

Literacy is a funny.thing. like the printing press is the machine in The matrix movies. And data is running the world. Or so we perceive. . Certainly that's the case in modern christianity.

I keep looking for lips and it just sits there in silence on the shelf next to other books all silent for me.

But hey I am one to say trees make more than people often times, and that nature speaks but one has to learn to listen.

I spotted that escape hatch in the second question.
It is, of course, desperately important for a creaitonist
to have a way to escape from some of the things
that research has shown us.

I've long held that it is impossible for a creationist to be both informed, and intellectually honest.

Yep, I am trying to keep him on the straight and narrow. I wanted to slam that door shut before he lost by being dishonest.

The text manifests from the landscape, the text did not generate and create the landscape. Books are the message not the messenger.

You do have a way of just saying things. Pardonez-moi, and all that rot,
for being literal about any of it .

They have been dated by various methods. Radiometric dating alone is good enough.

No, but this is a rather stupid question to say the least. It looks like you are trying to make a weak excuse ahead of time. The icecaps have been in place longer than humans have been on this Earth.

Good, remember, if you are dishonest you lose. Your second question is not a good indication.
Im not making an excuse. The problem is the best way to determine something is watching the icecap for thousands of years. And as you know ken ham expressed that we do not know the conditions throuout that time that could have contributed to the icecaps current conditions

Why did 'god' command his followers to commit genocide in the Old Testament?
This is a very simple answer. Many people worshipped false gods during that time. The entire world heard what god had done to Egypt and no god had ever done anything like what Israel did. There were nations that subitted to Jehovah god that were spared. The nations that were destroyed did not want to submit to the true god and his righteous standards and they would attack Israel and continue in the sinful ways.
1. they continued to worship false gods despite knowledge of the true god
2. They had beef against the Israelites
3. These people were wicked and unrepentant of their ways

They were given a chance to repent but refused

Since love lacks conditions, (give charity without expecting anything-person or god-in return. Doing it for the sole reason of giving itself) thats unconditional love.

What type of love does god have since he expects something in return that a person with unconditional love does not have?

Unconditional doesnt mean earning salvation. Its charity without reservation.

Also, what is a spirit?

How does someone who died 2,000 some odd years ago (magic number, I guess) save you today without your effort in the matter?

How does death bring life?

Whats the role of christs crucifiction when you only need faith to believe not the physical life and death gods son (faith by belief not by sight)?

1. When Adam and Eve sinned they began to die and passed on death to us through their genetics
2. We were born sinners because of Adam and Eve. and we being sinners deserve death already.
3. God wanted to save us. God Just forgiving our sins would violate one of his cardinal attributes "justice"
4. So in order for god Not to violate his justice somebody had to pay for the crime.
5. We cannot pay for the crime, because we are imperfect. Adam was perfect. So we have a debt that we cannot pay.
6. Adam sinned and passed on sin to all mankind. the wages sin pays is death. Jesus as a perfect man dies for our sins and allows us to attain forgiveness. Jesus balances out the scales of justice. One act of disobedience makes many sinners, then the death of one man makes many righteous.

That is not true. We have other ways of observing than merely keeping an eye on something.

Perhaps you should learn the scientific method.

Not a valid reason to perform genocide. Why do you believe in an evil god?

Thats the point if you know something is right and you choose to oppose it because of temporary benefits then you deserve the consequenses of your actions.

I would argue that the bible gives us what we need to handle everyday situations. look at the proverbs.

Could our understanding change? absolutely.

I would argue that inspire of the fact that a large portion of the Bible has rules, that those rules are in a context of story and that the particulars of any given situation are complex enough that no set of rules or principles are ever enough to adequately address all moral problems set before them. This is a major implicit theme throughout the Bible.

And furthermore a substantial number of the most important rules are broken by those whom God has favored in His Jewish genealogy. So if the best of God's people are always finding some law of God's to break what does that say about the adequacy of a set of rules to guide us on God's path? And what does it say of anyone who thinks they can answer all moral questions from the comfort of a forum post?

The only thing we can examine is what is written and try to reach out to god in prayer with an open mind and heart and see what happens. So if there are ancient writings we have to ask ourselves "what would we expect from a book inspired of god?". We can test the bible by applying the bible principals and examining the results. Prophecy and scientific facts in the bible can be examined.
So in a nut shell form a criteria on what you would expect from a book inspired of god and hold that measure to every book.

I have not found a book that I would consider "god inspired". They all are written by primitive peoples in ignorant times and reflect that fact. Why would a god need a book???

Lol. Are you serious?

He doesn’t. But He knows we humans do.

look at the mess this world is in! People’s attitudes are getting worse and worse, more and more are hurting from other’s selfishness and greed.

The Bible’s for us, not God.

A good deal of the misery on the planet is rooted in the religious books of the various religions. No, not all, maybe not even the majority.
My point is that a god should be able to communicate it's will clearly and unambiguously to everyone, everywhere without any book that is subject to translation, interpretation and misrepresentation.

And I hardly see a book in which a god has supported and sometimes commanded mysogeny, human sacrifice, animal sacrifice, rape, genocide, and slavery as a guide for moral behavior.

This is in the Hebrew Scriptures (OT), for the nation of Israel, who were surrounded by enemies.

Misogyny: why is that always mentioned, but not misandry? (Weren't more enemy men killed, than enemy women?)

Human sacrifice: I don't think so. Lol.

Animal sacrifice: Yes. There was a reason. Do you know why?

Rape: Passage, please.

Genocide: What a maniac God is! Imagine, killing those who were trying to kill His people.
Are they 'burning forever'? No. Actually, they will most likely be given a resurrection!
(Google "Gibeonites". Now, they had the right attitude!)

Guidelines for Christians in the Greek Scriptures (NT), real clear instructions:

The Golden Rule -- (Matthew 7:12);
Love your brother -- (John 13:34-35; Ephesians 4:1-3);
Love your enemy -- (Matthew 5:44);
Put others' interests ahead of your own -- (Philippians 2:3-4);

Don't murmur or argue -- (Philippians 2:14);
Don't scream or use abusive speech, but be compassionate and forgive freely -- (Ephesians 4:31-32; Colossians 3:8; Colossians 3:12-14);
Be thankful -- (Colossians 3:15);
Love your brother -- (1 John 4:21).

Is this ambiguous to you? Not me.

Feel free to ask me about the theology of scripture, manuscripts, life biggest questions, alleged contradictions, context of passages etc... I dont know everything but I like to hear the objections and the difficult questions and problems people have with scripture. Please provide the references if possible, and any relevant evidence.

Here are a few passages that I would like to get your understanding of:

Mt. 10: 1-8 "
[1] And having called his twelve disciples together, he gave them power over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of diseases, and all manner of infirmities. [2] And the names of the twelve apostles are these: The first, Simon who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother, [3] James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, Philip and Bartholomew, Thomas and Matthew the publican, and James the son of Alpheus, and Thaddeus, [4] Simon the Cananean, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him. [5] These twelve Jesus sent: commanding them, saying: Go ye not into the way of the Gentiles, and into the city of the Samaritans enter ye not.
[6] But go ye rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. [7] And going, preach, saying: The kingdom of heaven is at hand. [8] Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out devils: freely have you received, freely give.

Mt 15:15-19
" [15] Jesus saith to them: But whom do you say that I am?
[16] Simon Peter answered and said: Thou art Christ, the Son of the living God. [17]And Jesus answering, said to him: Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-Jona: because flesh and blood hath not revealed it to thee, but my Father who is in heaven. [18]And I say to thee: That thou art Peter; and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. [19] And I will give to thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven. And whatsoever thou shalt bind upon earth, it shall be bound also in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose upon earth, it shall be loosed also in heaven."

John 17: 17-20 " [17] Sanctify them in truth. Thy word is truth. [18] As thou hast sent me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. [19] And for them do I sanctify myself, that they also may be sanctified in truth. [20] And not for them only do I pray, but for them also who through their word shall believe in me"

Mt. 29: 19-20 "[19] Going therefore, teach ye all nations; baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. [20] Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and behold I am with you all days, even to the consummation of the world."

Eph. 4: 1-7 {especially verse 5 & 7} "
[1] I therefore, a prisoner in the Lord, beseech you that you walk worthy of the vocation in which you are called, [2] With all humility and mildness, with patience, supporting one another in charity. [3] Careful to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. [4] One body and one Spirit; as you are called in one hope of your calling. [5] One Lord, one faith, one baptism.

[6] One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in us all. [7] But to every one of us is given grace, according to the measure of the giving of Christ
God Bless you and THANKS,
Patrick
