I'm new to this forum I came here from Reddit where there is virtually no discussion, just echo chambers. I'm looking for discussion and to bond with people.
I've been a Catholic all my life, I predate the internet era. As a Catholic I was essentially taught to go to Mass, Pray (especially the Rosary), help your fellow man, and avoid Mortal Sins and confess venial sins frequently. That's it, that's Catholicism in a nutshell; everything else sort itself out.
But, man, on Reddit Christianity and Catholicism you meet the biggest weirdos. You meet Catholics (who tend to be converts) who have a Tolkien and C.S. Lewis Fetish, treating them as if they are saints. Well, they were both blatantly Racist, essentially White Supremacist and C.S. Lewis was not even Catholic. Then you meet other Catholics who are consistently treating the Catholic Catechism as if it were the Bible. I don't even think the laity is supposed to be reading the Catechism, that's stuff for Priest. I and my family and all the plethora Catholics in my life have never read the Catholics Catechism. Isn't this stuff all just common sense?
So, what is going on with Reddit Christianity and Catholicism? Who are these people and what kind of Catholicism are they looking into? I don't think they are Holy Roman Catholics or part of the Easter Rite either. I've run into these Catholic Cults online usually in Washington and Oregon who insist they are Catholic but are just White Supremacist outfits not related to the Church.
Sad Wold on that Reddit, Sad World.
