Celebrating PRIDE for the month of June. What does PRIDE mean, anyhow?

Personal Rights in Defense and Education (PRIDE) was a gay political organization. Established in 1966 as a radical gay political organization that from its origination set a new tone for gay political groups like the Gay Liberation Front (GLF), ACT UP and the Radical Faeries.[1][2] PRIDE led aggressive, unapologetic, demonstrations against the oppression by the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) of gay gatherings or same-sex meetings in the city of Los Angeles.[3][4] PRIDE's monthly single-page newsletter evolved into The Advocate, the nation's longest running gay news publication.[2]

Homosexuality, LGBTQ, and transgender (among others) are highly highly misinterpreted words. I've picked general definitions; so, if you're have variations, bare with me. It's not a debate.

Homosexuality: Homosexual: A person sexually attracted to persons of the same sex. Homosexuals include males (gays) and females (lesbians).

LGB: (keeping it simple; not excluding variations of attraction and/or lack thereof)
Someone who sees themselves with having a spiritual, mental, psychical, and all around attraction to someone of their own gender or both.

Transgender (is NOT a sexual orientation): denoting or relating to a person whose sense of personal identity and gender does not correspond with their birth sex.

A person who is can be gay, lesbian, straight, or bisexual (or any in between or lack thereof) It's part of the LGBT because of its history. Transgender and gay men and women were the first to start the modern (not first) gay rights movement after the Stonewall Inn incident.

Identity: the fact of being who or what a person or thing is (The nature of a person; their being)

In my experience in relationship to myself as a gay woman (I prefer), my attraction (lesbian) is not what makes up my identity. It's not based on attraction. If that be the case, straight people would be in the pile too. No one has a black and white sexual orientation regardless the cultural and religious definitions that say otherwise.

What makes up my identity is how I relate to others who share like experiences. How LGBTQ were brought up in their upbringing. The discrimination and religious issues we have faced. The community's goal to value our sexuality our identity as sexual people that is a part of our being regardless of who we are attracted to and how we see ourselves as male or female (or however one defines themselves in their nature).

As sexual people (all people), we are part of an
evolution of human sexuality. From pro-creation, intimacy, to socialization, and familiarity with someone else based on culture (say viscosity of two given people) and one's morality in how they see their own bodies whether by gender and/or by sex. This is all throughout all living beings and plants. All living. A mother's care with their child is part of the child's sexual identity when he grows older and how he relates to others. Sexual identity in corporate all definitions of self.

Homosexuality (bisexuality, etc) are medical terms (not a identities one) that define only in
part one's sexuality in relation to who that person's attraction and sexual rather than behavioral orientation is pulled to. This biological connection is apparent in all human beings regardless the sex and gender. WE are all sexual human beings regardless of the object of our attraction.

Here is something by the man who made the second PRIDE flag (PRIDE referring to identities as LGBTQ) while P.R.I.D.E. referring to the acronym above)

:innocent: No discussion of homosexuality, LGBTQ, and identity won't be without mentioning religious relationship between the words and misconceptions. This is only for Christianity; since, I'm familiar with that and not all religions see homosexuality as bad as abrahamics do. No debate.

LGBTQ: Identities of people who have struggled as homosexuals based on like upbringing, interests, and how we see ourselves sexuality (which I think a lot of us take for granted). I am not sure how someone transgender would see it in relation to being transgender. However, as a sexual being LGBTQ or S, they can consider themselves homosexual/bisexual/or so have you or by identity. It's the same for all people. ALL.

These have nothing to do with behavior

1 Timothy 1:10-11 - For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine; These are actions

Romans 1:27 - And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. Homosexuality (Heterosexuality), LGBTQ has nothing to do with lust; they are not actions.

Romans 1:32 - Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

Genesis 19:1-38 - And there came two angels to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom: and Lot seeing [them] rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground; Angels and lust? This has nothing to do with homosexuality (were the angels attracted to the people or just sexually involved? rhetorical question)

:facepalm: I just had to. The connection between scripture and homosexuality and LGBTQ are just not there.

I'm ranting; this is not a debate.

Anyway. Christianty highly influences our society here in the U.S. You can love the sinner and hate the sin; but, that does not make sense.

If you love me unconditionally, you love
all of me. You love who I am a sexual being. You love who I am with (as we are one; we cannot be separated). You love me for me not for how you define me.

Yes, we have differences in morals and beliefs; but, they shouldn't judge how we define someone else who does not share your morals and beliefs. It's a sticky rope to be on. However, if respect is only tolerance, be upfront.

I'm glad this is PRIDE month. I hope to be going to the March here in D.C. next week.
March for equality and the right to see ourselves as sexual people not to have special rights to lust etc.

If you trust that a modern English translation of a 3000 year old euphemism from a primitive language is God's Truth, gay sex is fine as long as the participants don't both lie down at the same time.

But you might be surprised by how many religionists want to inflict their understanding of the supernatural onto other people's world.

It's just common sense. If Almighty God didn't want me to be gay He wouldn't have made me that way.

Not surprised. That's the orthodox way. Believe as I do or go to hell.

I'm not of that ideology. I divide the flesh and the spirit. The fleshes fate is already determined. The spirit's, questionable. (as in asking questions through seeking it).

The term pride is a poor word choice, in my honest opinion. Pride goeth before a fall. pride in said whatever should be earned, if you are born that way or born somewhere, that's no real reason to be proud of it. Standing up for who you are, doing something just for what you believe to be right, practicing good ethics and business acumen is cause for pride. Simply being something without the effort, is where problems begin.

Like Nationalism. my dirt's better then your dirt. It's still dirt.

They went go the PRIDE festival couple years ago when I went. They put their picture on google. We all gushed on facebook!

From what I've heard it's not about being proud of being LGBT, but being proud of overcoming adversity and achieving a community which reaches out and helps eachother to do so. Coming out is an achievement when you're overcoming fear or repercussion from family and community by being publically lgbt.
