Christians: Is this man the messiah?

Rational Agnostic

Here is a YouTube video made by a man who claims to be the second coming of Christ. My question for those of you who do believe Christ will return is this: If you do believe that this man is the messiah, what are your reasons for believing him? Furthermore, if you don't believe he is the messiah, what are your reasons for disbelieving him?

This post is mostly in jest, as I'm quite confident that the majority of RF members can see that the man in this video has delusions of grandeur. Nevertheless, I am curious as to the specific reasons *why* (specifically referring to evangelical Christians) you disbelieve he is the messiah. After all, you do believe a Messiah will eventually return, so their must specifically be a reason why you reject the claims of the man in the video.

I didn't bother to watch the video, but the man doesn't appear to fit the description of the returning Jesus Christ...

Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen. “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,”says the Lord,“who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.” Revelation 1:7-8

Then I turned to see the voice that spoke with me. And having turned I saw seven golden lampstands, and in the midst of the seven lampstands One like the Son of Man, clothed with a garment down to the feet and girded about the chest with a golden band. His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes like a flame of fire; His feet were like fine brass, as if refined in a furnace, and His voice as the sound of many waters; He had in His right hand seven stars, out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword, and His countenance was
like the sun shining in its strength. And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. Revelation 1:12-17

When Jesus returns He does so not like this but as He said He does so in the glory of His Father and the hosts of heaven will be with Him.

Unfortunately it's hard to break people out of delusions like this because they believe that if you try you're just persecuting them or in some kind of conspiracy against them. Or perhaps they think you're the crazy one.

Look at his website here. He has images with what appears to be satanic looking pentagrams encircled. That's not Christ like. I can only feel sorry for him at this point because his delusions. Who knows what mental torment he lives in?

Oh no, not the pentagrams!

Interesting and sad.

Very. I think we, as a society, sometimes brush over mental illness in a far too casual non-compassionate way. We poke fun at people with Messiah disorders and slough it off, perhaps glad that it's just not happening to us, or our own families. Bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, PTSD, dementia, and a long list of other mental diseases can be and are disabling, affecting the poor people, as well as their surrounding loved ones. It's common too. Just as many can say they have been personally affected by alcoholism, or cancer, so too with mental illness.

Yes it's difficult. The poor folks who have enough wits about them to make blogs, have a facebook page, or post on forums like this need our compassion, not our argument or our disdain. Still it's a tough call. I often choose just to say nothing at all, so unsure I am of what to say.

My psychiatrist friend says to treat with patience, compassion, change the topic, but don't be confrontational. But that's in person. Here on a forum I suppose all that changes.

I'm guilty as heck for my lack of patience some days too.

Christ came when there was no media and 2,000 years later he is talked about all over the world?

Would you really require Youtube to tell us the Messiah has returned if returning on the clouds for all to see the same way as he went.

Would not even give it the time to watch,

He seems to be kind of enjoying it if you ask me.

Jesus did not ascend into the clouds and there was no reason to think that Jesus would return on the clouds for all to see. It is not even physically possible for everyone on earth to see the appearance of one man in one location all at the same time, but because Christians interpret the Bible literally this is what they believe and that is what they will continue to wait for forever, even though all the prophecies for the return of Christ have been fulfilled. If anything is sad, this is sad, not some guy with a video. :(

Moreover, there is no reason to think that the second coming would be any different from the first coming. Not many people recognized Jesus the first time He came or for a long time afterward, so we cannot really expect it to be any different the second time.

Easy. Because he claims to be the messiah.

Also, Jesus is risen. We think "someday" Jesus will come again, but this is not what is actually said. Already here (appeared to his disciples several times). Therefore, all Christian messiahs are false. If someone wants to claim to be messiah, they'd have better luck as a Jewish one.

I didn't bother to look at his website, but I've watched his other YT videos. Dude claims to be both Jesus and Satan at the same time. :tearsofjoy:

Within 3sec he proved himself to be fake [IMHO]. Thanks for the 73 sec very short version

How to know?

1 Body language + attitude mostly.
2 No charisma at all + plenty of arrogance

So do some old churches, along with other geometric symbols. What's more, there are ones that have gargoyles that look like demons(the Christian version of them).
