Just wanted to say thank you for the feedback yesterday on my video about religion.

My question for you guys is, do you believe there is life after death? If yes, tell me why. And if no, tell me why as well but explain to me on how you deal with knowing there is just this life and no other.

The dead are in their graves, for now. (Contrary to what most believe.) -- John 5:28-29 : when Jesus talked about them coming back to life, i.e., in the Resurrection, note the future tense He used. They 'will come out from the memorial tombs.'
Also, future tense is used by Paul, at Acts of the Apostles 24:15.

It's the resurrection that will bring people back to life. Right now, they are dead, "aware of nothing" -- Ecclesiastes 9:5; please read Psalms 146:3-4 and Genesis 3:19.

No-one will know they're not yet alive !
There is no `afterlife`, only scattered spirits.
Some in the ground, some cremated, some just rot away.
But there vapor of life will go on and on and on......
Sans cognizance.....and form.

I have my suspicions about reincarnation, although I still remain agnostic when it comes to things of the sort.

I however do believe that whatever happens within death (not physically, obviously) is of the most positive, as written in Liber AL: "Think not, o king, upon that lie: That Thou Must Die: verily thou shalt not die, but live. Now let it be understood: If the body of the King dissolve, he shall remain in pure ecstasy for ever."

Yes. Why would God create us, without having in mind an eternal utopia in his direct presence? We long for this. Why would we be endowed with such a magnificent gift as consciousness and the desire to enjoy beauty, love, truth, God, and etc, merely to have it disintegrate into the void after a short lifetime?

Of course there's life after death as evidenced by our own birth. You weren't alive before you were born.

Welcome to the afterlife. Or is it the afterdeath? I could never figure that one out. ;0)

No, there isn't.

Life is biochemistry, in humans very complex biochemistry, but nothing else. When the numerous biological systems that make a life possible have irreversibly failed, life ceases, hence brain function ceases, hence the sense of self, and memories, and personality, and identity, the works.

How do I deal with that? When I had cancer, I found I could consider my own extinction with equanimity; regret, indeed, but nothing of panic. I was under general anesthetic on several occasions there, and that will do as a simple analogy for oblivion.

I'm not a believer, but I notice Paul, John and 1 John think the natural end is extinction eg Romans 6:9, John 3:16, no different to my view ─ but now they can offer believer's paradise instead. Mark (perhaps metaphorically) and Revelation think the alternatives are the lake-of-fire sort of thing (torture unbelievers for eternity) or paradise.

As Ecclesiastes 3 puts it,

19 For the fate of the sons of men and the fate of beasts is the same; as one dies, so dies the other. They all have the same breath, and man has no advantage over the beasts; for all is vanity. 20 All go to one place; all are from the dust, and all turn to dust again.

No. We live to die. Its the nature of life. Once you are born you start decaying. The purpose is to understand birth, aging, sickness, and death in order to ready the mind therefore heart of leaving whats never been technically ours to begin with. Its a learning curve.

I want to believe there is an afterlife because my experience has made me understand there are spirits alive on earth that interacts with us. My experience tells me that although our purpose changes, having a fixed one gives me an illusion to live at the face of death.

Afterlife is pretty much that: an illusion of safety and continuity. Its very human and when you understand the role of illusion and what will help, whether fact or fiction, you have the upperhand of not needing to prove anything to yourself or others. You know what works for you.

There is an afterlife to those who believe it. There is no afterlife to all of us who have not experienced it. The best we can do is live life without expectations. Even in this life, we have expectations and goals and something snaggs the rug from under us to reality: we know, *cough*, nothing.

Not everyone can face that. I mean, when I think I will not "be here" my mind goes blank and goes back into delusion. Wrong? No. But there are ways to have inner solace when we understand both life AND death.

Yes, I believe there is an afterlife because of a preponderance of evidence. This evidence does not come from someone's philosophical or theological musings but from real experiences of real people.

I believe there is an afterlife for the simple reason that I don't believe life itself would be possible without a Creator. Human life, in particular, is so complex (and I'm not even thinking about the workings of the physical body) that I can't imagine it having happened independently of a plan. To me, if I am a sentient being right now, it makes no sense that I would suddenly cease to be a sentient being simply because my body ceases to function at some point. Yeah, I know, some people are going to demand proof. Well, they're out of luck as I don't have any.

Yes, there is an afterlife, but it's not much of one.

Oh wait, you mean after death? I thought you meant after marriage.

No one alive can tell you for sure, but I believe we are eternal beings. I have my experiences and reasonings. It never made sense to me that we live such short lives and just cease to exist after. But the idea that we are purely physical beings never made sense to me, either.
I think the only true death is that of a person's identity and ego. The person I am now will be gone forever and never ever come back once I die. Fineto.

If you really want to pounder on it, on the atomic-level, nothing's really ever affected aside from molecules coming apart and then rearranging back together into another form. I'm of the opinion life is cyclic we see new life emerge everyday as well as life dissipating everyday.

If there is no life after death, than it would have been completely impossible that we would be born in the first place. So I consider this life as being the afterlife.

The possibility of life will always exist as long provided conditions and circumstances are right for it whereas atoms and molecules rearrange to turn on the "lights".

I find comfort in that possibility aside from wondering what form this new being will take.
