Arming teachers is a great idea

One dont need to be a john maclean, one just needs to be a better shooter then the other guy bent on evil.
The teachers dont have to do other daily duties besides there regular teaching.

The only additional thing they got to do is have a gun and hope they dont need to use it.
Wrong. Teachers prep and grade on thier own time, now you are going to expect them to train and guard without compensation?

Nonsense. "Just having a gun" is NOT a solution to this problem. Responding to a shooter with the initiative and potential hostages is a complex and highly specialised operation. The sort of police they send to deal with these situations are extremely well trained and armed, and operate in specialised integrated teams, yet you expect a teacher with basic firearm knowledge to handle such situations alone?

Absolutely, yes, because the mad shooter bent on evil isnt gonna be "highly trained".

The nuts and bolts of what needs to happen is the teacher shoot him before he shoots her.

Anyone who can ride a bike can be a truck driver.
Sure, what do they need to know? Stop at stop signs and red lights, basic rules of the road, it's easy.
My job has nothing to do with the subject either.

And a tractor trailer truck job is more then just driving a bike. But yea, anyone can do it, if you can put up with the stress.
If that is so ... why did I waste my time getting a CDL?

I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt, and assume you're being funny. Well done. You sure fooled me. Har har har.

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
Schools imo should hold special classes at middle school/high school level to teach first hand to students firearm safety and offer hands on time at a shooting range coupled with historical classes teaching and informing students how guns shaped our country and the world at large. A variety of weapons can be fired like black powder muskets all the way up to modern-day firearms. Maybe even a student ROTC style program could be implemented without having a military commitment.

Through familiarization and direct handling, instead of vilifying everything under the sun as people do these days, maybe a sense of appreciation and respect can be fostered for our young men and women in a more positive way, instead of instilling all the unnecessary fear and apprehension that's being done now.

The guns can be provided for them and the training provided. They dont need to pay for it out of there own money.

And hey, even if you don't know ALL the road rules, maybe you'll get lucky! There we go, problem solved!

All you need is to know how to use the gun, do a little practice and your good to go.

I agree with the backround check.

I think in stress situation were someone is shooting at you and you may have to actually kill someone is tougher than target practice. I don't think everyone is even capable of that. Maybe training in live fire scenarios is a bit much to ask, but that's what I'd like to see.

Reality is, to be a truck driver is simple. Apart from the ridiculous electronic logs and even paper logs, rest when your sleepy. Drive all day. Make wide turns. Obey road signs and lights. Learn to back. Turn weel left if you want trailer to go right. Turn weel right if you want trailer to go left.

Unhook trailer, role landing gear, unhook the airhoses. Go in and get the bill of laden. Scan it to get paid.

Follow your GPS(truck GPS).

Thats IT.

Reality is, have the gun loaded. Safety on. Put it in a side pocket. When you need to use it, take safety off, point, pull trigger.

Its less expensive to give teachers guns then it is to hire more armed gaurds.

I’m going to go out on a whim and say you haven’t taken a look at the state of the American education system lately? I'll save you some time: it's not good. It's chronically underfunded, budgets are being slashed regularly, classroom size has ballooned in recent years, and every indicator available has pointed to one key trend: the government has little interest in providing more money to help teachers actually teach. As of this writing, every single public school teacher in the state of West Virginia is on strike, demanding higher wages. That's how bad things are - they're demanding higher wages because a shocking number of teachers can only make ends meet by subsisting on federal assistance in addition to their salaries. Shouldn't we as a nation put SOME value on the individuals entrusted in teaching and guiding our children? Shouldn't they be paid appropriately and not have to worry about not getting reimbursed for buying classroom supplies?

The answer is that we don't really care about giving teachers more money to do their job - but we are totally fine with giving them enough money to purchase firearms and train them, apparently smh
