I recall promising to discuss more politics in a thread, and I figure the time has come. That is to say- enough time has passed since Trump entered office, and Obama left it. America has gotten to see both of them in action.

Tell us your opinion: who does president better? Obama or Trump? If you are willing- kindly expound on your choice.

Gracious!

Sucker! Nothing but heartache and indigestion comes from discussing politics here!

Really no contest since Obama supported many platforms that I support. Trump does not. Then again, you could replace Obama with almost any Democrat (in the current environment) and my answer would still be the same.

As a non-American, I find Trump repulsive. I thought Obama was great.
Now that is purely from a PR point of view, what they have done (doing) for the country, I'm not sure.

Put it like this, in my country Obama was welcomed with open arms and received a great reception wherever he or Michelle went. If Trump appeared there'd be riots in the streets.

It's a tough call, since Trump's record is so short,
& the chickens have yet to come home to roost.
Overall, I give Trump the edge.
Tax reform beats Obamacare.
Both are massive deficit spenders.
Both have started no wars.
But this evaluation could change in an instant.

Even though Obama didn't walk on water, compared to Trump he's an absolute saint.

For just one example, during Obama's eight years, there was not one member of his team that was prosecuted-- no indictments. Can we say the same for Trump's staff? "Train-wreck" is an overly kind response to that question.

Oh, btw, how about the budget deficit? Obama, under guidance from Paulson and Bernanke who are both Republicans, had to deficit spend to salvage our economy that was in free-fall, but then he stopped doing as such as soon as we stopped the fall. OTOH, with Trump and the Republican lemmings in Congress, they're ramping up the deficit contrary to what even conservative economists say is healthy.

This is a question that can honestly only be answered once Trump is 100% finished being president just as Obama was. Right now, I can't really cast vote if I'm being honest about it.

It would be like judging a person who was Principal of a School for 10 yrs vs someone who just started a few months ago. Yeah I don't like Trump, but I definitely don't like Obama either.

For it to be seriously honest, we'd have to wait til Trump's term (or terms) is over & done with.
The only real difference between the two is one is a Liar who weeps like a baby every time people disagrees with him, and the other is so blunt about his idiocy but don't whine like the other but instead acts everyone should be ashamed for disagreeing with him.
One is a dick, the other is a liar. Who is better at the job than the other? Too early to tell.

Oh ya, you should hear RW media excusing this spending and encouraging it. I'll guarantee the wording has manipulated the minds of conservatives to think this is a good thing.

If anyone is truly interested in getting the debt under control, they should look at history and which party has the best track record.

I think we have to wait another 6 years for a true comparison. If, for an example, there was a real Turmp/Russia collusion, that would hang the balance in favor of Obama.

If Obama actually promoted illegal survellance to fool around with the elections, then it would overwhelmingly tilt toward Trump..

Just too soon to compare 8years vs 1yr and a couple of months.

Eh. I don't particularly support Obama's policies.

Which still means that it is a no-brainer.

I am honestly shocked that there are people who somehow see fit to choose Trump in this poll.

Obama introduced the NDAA, which involves illegal surveillance of both foreign & domestic, but is far worse than that, and make Bush's Patriot Act seem like an exploding can of soda when compared to Obama's Nuke on the Constitution.

Trump/Russia collusion - prepare to laugh

Seeing as how Obama actually did some presidenting (Yes, I made this word up.) while in office, I'd have to say Obama. Trump does not have the intellectual capacity to run a burger joint, let alone the most powerful country in the world.

I find it shocking that you're so easily shocked.

I've never quite understood the reasoning at play in comments like this. Trump is obviously smart enough to excel in several different, unrelated, areas. That IS a sign of intelligence rather than of just blind luck. I'd say it is the former. If it is the latter then perhaps he is the perfect person to be POTUS. After being on a winning steak for so many years why should it suddenly stop now? There has to be more to the guy than the buffoon he plays so perfectly.

What first got my attention with Trump was watching a few of his speeches early on the campaign trail. I soon realized it was all hot air, but admired him for the fact that he never relies on notes and it's a stream of consciousness routine. It's not easy talking to a large group of people and continually strike a chord with that audience. This was in such stark contrast to Obama, who while be an effective speaker, became married to dual teleprompters. Likewise, Saint Hillary was the most uninteresting speaker in recent memory and virtually never strayed from her well rehearsed script.

You just don't understand Americastanian politics.
My guy is smart, educated, ethical, experienced & a great dancer.
Your guy is dumb, uneducated, immoral, inexperienced, & has 2 left feet.
There is no middle ground, because to even entertain that thought
would be to commit a false equivalence fallacy. Prolly racist too.

Well, Obama was the first president whose actions cause me any grief because of Obama care. Normally I wouldn't care. The president is only one person who I generally see more as an iconic scapegoat for the countries woes.

Trump hasn't directly cause me any problems but is more entertaining, just not in a good way. Every political choice costs someone and benefits someone. I just hope I don't end up being the one paying.

As I see it, Trump has been just about the worst president we have had in the last century. Obama was one of the best.

No contest.

As a towering intellect (for once, not said dripping
in sarcasm), you must have your reasons.
I demand to know them!

Hehe. I see Trump more as the greatest Troll who has yet surfaced. The only way I can explain his bizarre tweets is that he is throwing red meat at hungry lions - who never cease to take the bait. In some ways, if it is intentional deflection, his tweets are brilliant. If they are meant to be taken seriously... that is problematic.

Neither. Obama felt like a stagnant 8 years and I know Trump will be the same. Maybe it's because I'm in a state either less than a million people.
