Firstly not sure if anyone has done this previously of aligning the forms of Yoga with Chakras, and if so would be happy to look at the info...

Since couldn't find the info, and realized they do align, thus decided to add it up myself; feel free to be critical.

  • Tantra Yoga - A methodology of controlling the bodies vitality. - Overal method of Yoga for Connection.

  • Jnana Yoga - A seeking of spiritual knowledge. - Sahasrara (thousand petaled) - Crown Chakra

  • Raja Yoga - The practise of mindfulness meditation. - Ajna (command) - Third-Eye Chakra

  • Bhakti Yoga - Ritual devotion. - Vishuddha (especially pure) - Throat Chakra

  • Karma Yoga - A path of mindful action (selfless service). -

    Anharta (unstruck) - Heart Chakra
  • Kriya Yoga - A technique of inner karma cleansing. -

  • Pranayama Yoga - A practise of regulating the breathing. - Manipura (city of jewels) - Solar plexus Chakra

  • Hatha Yoga - A way to keeping the body balanced through stretching. - Svadhishthana (one's own base) - Core Chakra

  • Kundalini Yoga - a practise to awakening the sexual vitality. - Muladhara (root support) - Sexual organs Chakra
In my opinion. :innocent:

I never made the connection with given so-called chakras.

I haven’t either, though I don’t give much thought at all to what I do as yoga. The forms I practice one might say are bhakti and karma yoga. For me hatha yoga is out of the question physically. My belief is that bhakti and karma yoga lead to jñana yoga... eventually. I further believe that kriya and kundalini yoga should only be undertaken with a guru, mostly because they are so esoteric in nature. Easy to go wrong.

I definitely agree with this, especially with the more esoteric forms. You can't read a book and get it right on those. But yeah, I remember learning about chakras but there was never really much emphasis placed on them. The only time I ran into folks who spoke much about chakras were from new age hippies (along with moonbeams, hugs and unicorns). :)

And I’ll bet they shopped at Trader Joe’s. :D

Having got thousands of spiritual friends across the web, there are a lot of wannabe Yogi... Yet most are teaching Hatha Yoga, and partially forget the rest.

Which is where this alignment comes in, the Chakras currently don't seem to be very well integrated into the Yoga practise.

When based on this initial assessment, some of the wording implies they might have been to begin.

Yoga is all about alignment, and connection to the CPU; thus having our Chakras balanced is far more essential, than being able to stretch.
My belief is that bhakti and karma yoga lead to jñana yoga... eventually.
This is part of the reason it needs defining properly in terms of Chakras; though our Karma affects our Heart Chakra, as this is where our soul connects, and thus we can reach Jnana by the higher consciousness of our soul...

There is a specific part of our brain at the top, which when the third eye is in harmony with the thousand lotus petals, we're literally connecting to the CPU that creates reality; like an ant's antenna connecting to the instructions from the queen.
I further believe that kriya and kundalini yoga should only be undertaken with a guru, mostly because they are so esoteric in nature.
Again lots of superstition, not enough science...

Our hormones are regulated by our gonads; by contracting our pelvic floor muscle, we pump blood around these areas, which then invigorates our whole health, and vitality...

Pranayama and Hatha Yoga to ignite Kundalini, is also just making blood pump around our sexual organs, which increases our whole vitality.

It is also possible to be in a constant state of being turned on, by harmonized reflection within; thus this maintains our youthfulness, and keeps us healthier.

Kirya Yoga is like going for counseling or confession with the CPU; if we're meditating properly, and all aligned, we should hear the CPU, and it will explain what bits we're meant to be dealing with internally...

A Guru no matter how much training, can not feel or know everything the CPU can, and tho someone who is advanced at Karma can explain to someone where they're unbalanced; only they can repent, accept, and deal with all the emotional baggage it might carry.

In my opinion. :innocent:

I have practiced Kripalu and later Hatha for several years and I have not yet found a connection with chakras. But having trained Qigong and Internal Chinese Marital arts longer than I have trained yoga I have found connections to something similar from the Chinese POV

Thank you for the input; so within the way it is equated above, does this make sense to you, why all of these add to the overall balance, and connection to the divine we can achieve?

In my opinion. :innocent:

As far as chakras go, most people on this planet vibrate in chakras below the muladara.
I've heard this said; yet i've done market research in many town centers in the UK, and people weren't only that animalistic, met some people like that, yet a very small percentage.
The muladara is the gateway to higher levels of consciousness, and it is from there we start on the dharmic path.
Tho both are access points, the influx of sexual energies through the root chakra, and the knowledge from Jnana; personally see one is to charge the system, the other to educate it.

The Dharma is regulated on each level of the Chakras, and Yoga system, as without all, we're missing some key aspect to connection, health, and well being.
They are related to mental areas of conciousness
The Chakras seem to resonate part of a person's aura; depending on what awareness they're using.

In my opinion. :innocent:

Is anything missing from the system when compared to Qigong or Chinese POV, please?

Never looked at it as a connection to the "divine". Always looked at it as a way to efficiently transfer energy/power while staying relaxed and of maintaining health

Since I do not practice Yoga with any idea of Chakra I cannot answer that question but many of the points in Chinese Qigong and medicine do line up with points known as Chakras, example upper, middle and lower Dantian

Never looked at it as a connection to the "divine".
'Divine' is an ambiguous word; sorry to be a bit more scientific...

If we're possibly in a mathematically simulated reality, like the Matrix; where the CPU is the source of the structure of reality.

Then in practicing Qi, Tao, Parana, Dharma, each stems from the Source of the Logic behind it.

Since everything happens through the CPU; the religious texts call this Connecting (Yoga) to the Divine.

In my opinion. :innocent:

I was just posting my school's view, not trying to argue.
Do you have Satsang?

I hate arguing also; generally like to add to, don't mind constructive criticism...

Like since you've got loads of advanced knowledge, and we're going to post that elsewhere on the web, in an effort to elevate Yoga's forms, and the Chakra's alignment; it would be nice if everyone added what they know.

No one asked you to argue. :purpleheart:

Having practiced several of the above, over a period of several years, I never made the connection with given so-called chakras. Though I would bow to the thinking of our Hindu followers *giggles* @Jainarayan @Vinayaka @Terese @George-ananda @JayaBholenath and company, while I was practicing Bhakti yoga, for example, the subject of a specific chakra simply never came up.
Chakras are not involved in any of my beliefs, including Bhakti Yoga. I don't seem to have a use for chakras and don't associate them with yoga. Whether that is fool of me, i'm not sure. :)

Marcion

gopa of humanity's controversial Taraka Brahma
A balanced system or path that combines bhakti yoga with karma yoga and jinana yoga gradually purifies all of the chakra's, allowing the kulakundalini to rise up from the bottom of the spinal cord and pierce through the chakra's leading to ever higher stages of self-realisation until the unit consciousness merges with God in the highest (crown) chakra (which is not really a chakra but the seat of God). Even in the Christian bible these diverse layers of the Mind associated with the chakra's are described in symbolic language.

A balanced system
Have found understanding this full system an easier guide to enlightenment, than reading lots of books; as like you say, it allows direct connection with the Source.

In my opinion. :innocent:

Yes, pretty much, that's how it is at least with karma, bhakti, jnAna . JnAna Yoga is definitely tied to the sahasra chakra - no dispute there. Karma-bhakti appeared more blurred between ahAhat and vishuddha. It is just that we associate bhakti with heart.

Bhakii can lead to non-dual absorption of the mind culminating in the (sahasra chakra) => JnAna [Yoga with the Divine/Brahman']

Namaste ameyAtmA-Ji,

The upward breath of gratitude (Bhakti) to the divine in all action, applies good karma to the heart.

Interesting sum, yet numerous things can go wrong:

Overly devoted (Bhakti), and a lack of roots in the lower chakras (Kundalini, Hatha, Pranayama, Kriya), leads to imbalance.

Krishna declares devotion to him will lead to enlightenment, which in understanding we all have to individually become all reflective; that there is no negativity in the shadows, that we can attain light in all perspectives as Krishna (All Reflective), Buddha (Discernment), Lao Tzu (Ancient Master), Yeshua (Salvation), etc, all became One.

Maya is made of Kundalini (Yin/Yang), thus without exercising it by connecting to the Source (Brahman), it rots in its own delusions; thus to realize the Maya as a garden, where we allow things to grow into being fruits for devotion.

In my opinion. :innocent:
