He promises to give the Holy Spirit to those who ask. What kind of a father would give his son a fish when he asks for a snake? I would not be upset at God if he would simply guide me to do his will. It isn't much to ask.
God may give to those who ask, but to the Gentile lady, she had to make a nuisance out of herself before her request was granted. The "Word" guides one, but the false prophets, which would includes the pope, and Peter, the "dreamer" (Zechariah 13:3-4 & 7), have deemed the "Word" "obsolete" (Hebrews 8:13).
