agnostics can be very religious, and they can have strong faith in god. they are agnostic when it comes to knowledge of god by scientific standards. they simple say ''we don't know'' in my opinion. agnostics can be devout christians, when it comes to the teachings of christ.

That doesn't sound logical.

For a person to say "I don't know" and still be completely devout sounds conflicting. Aren't they still sinners for not believing in God?

As an agnostic I can agree but my faith is rather weak. I would say that to have strong faith they would believe that facts can neither prove nor disprove gods existence and not that they just don't know.

The dictionary defines an agnostic as someone who believes that nothing is known or can be known of the existence or nature of God.
While agnostics might believe that God exists and even be spiritual people, I don't think they can be religious. When you're religious you normally belong to an organized group that has defined ideas about God's nature.

South Park: A Strict Agnostic Household

"Welcome to your new home. Before we show you around let's get one thing clear: this is a very strict religious household! As long as you live here you will be agnostic! These are your foster brothers and sisters! They are all strict agnostics! David, do you believe in God?!"

"I don't know..."

"Right! There are two bedrooms upstairs! Boys' room and girls' room! Your chores are listed on their respective doors! Follow! You will eat only at designated meal times! Beverages you may take from the refrigerator as you like! However, in this house you will drink only agnostic beverages! Dr Pepper, and Diet Dr Pepper! Because what flavor is it?! It is neither root beer nor cola! Nobody is sure what flavor it is, and nobody can be sure! Isn't that right, Melissa?!"

"I don't know."

"Good!"

Might want to rethink this. It doesn't square with agnosticism at all.

I think what he is saying is that its not belief but action that matters. The meaning of the term faith has changed over the last two centuries so that it gets mistakenly confused with belief. For example if you live a certain way its more important than what you understand.

You are making some important differentiations, here, I think. Belief is not knowledge. So knowledge is not required for one to believe. That's what faith is for.

Also, religions are not just the adherence to some traditional dogma about the existence and nature of God. Some of it is, but most religion is about the practice of a faith-based belief. Not the proclamation of an assumed truth. So an agnostic could be religious in the sense of practicing a belief. But not in the sense of proclaiming truths about God.

Well certainly "I believe and I don't believe are all cranium intellect. That of course is delusional. Now agnostics are uncertain if it's is cranium or not cranium the intellect in particular. I have this theory which seems to be accurate the intellect is an alien parasite, leached into the human brain and convinces the host that the cranium determines. What can kill the alien is to starve it to death. I suggest long periods out in the wilderness and it goes into at least remission. Return to culture it tends to re-emerge. It is either parasitic or viral. Could be viral it seems to get stronger as two infected hosts talk back and forth!!!! Now will what I wrote above make sense to the parasite infested!? Absolutely not.

The whole thing what we think is irrelevant totally. About a second in nature makes that pretty clear. We are A bit like seals barking nothing more. I just bark seals barking and everyone looks and says what? deerrrrrr. Same thing every generation a few just bark differently is all.

We are not barking seals.

And even then what does that have to do with being agnostic?

Hey ya certainly can believe that? Feel better? All I said was belief, non belief, agnosticism, is irrelevant in totality to anything. Not that hard really.

Yep, and recognizing that "I don't know" has a very sobering and humbling effect, especially versus the "I know everything-- just ask me" approach. Since Jesus said there are things he didn't know, what's the problem with the rest of us saying the same thing at times. [notice that this is not a question in my book]

in my opinion not believing in the existence of god or having doubts is not a sin. sin is if you don't follow the teachings of jesus. for example an atheist who accepts jesus's teachings is not a sinner.
