Al Franken to resign from Senate

Not Religious
Democrats hold their people accused of wrong doing responsible. Same goes for media.
Republicans don't hold their people accused of wrong doing responsible. Same goes for media.

Roy Moore is encouraged by evangelicals to get hired. The underage thing is normal in the south apparently.

Meanwhile, a GOP candidate has been accused of pedophilia running in Alabama and a President whose own accusations make Franken look like a boy scout. What a time to be alive.

Yes, the one thing I did not like about the article that I linked is that it claims that Al Franken groped Tweeden. From what I have seen he only acted as if he was groping her. Still inappropriate, but there should be accuracy in reporting.

Interestingly that appears to be more than enough for GOP voters. That same standard, of course, is not held to their own.

Only if you're white. If a black man was accused of having sex with an underage girl in the South he would be hung from the nearest tree.

To be fair they did that when they dated "outside their race". I think that there was even less concern for black on black crime than there was for white on white crime. Not being able to get proper justice because both parties were black is still appallingly racist.

I think I need to clarify, if Franken is guilty of whatever charges are placed, of course he needs to resign. But I think it is equally important that voters from the right hold their own candidates to that same standard. If they did, Trump wouldn't be president and Moore would be rethinking his career.

And if I had to choose I would much rather have a person that acknowledged that what he did was wrong and apologized for it than a nonrepententant child molester.

My guess is that he's deliberately setting an example and a standard for its strategic effect rather than feeling that he needs or wants to resign.

I wouldn't be surprised if he intends to run for his senate seat again. If the voters forgive him, it will have been a stunning and brilliant political move.

Flush them all down the toilet they crawled out of. Gotta remember peeps, this isn't so much about sex as it is abuse of power and authority.

I may have spoken up to quickly in Franken's defense. Tweeden may have opened up the floodgates. At least six other women have come forward with claims of unwanted sexual advances:

Sen. Al Franken says he will resign over sexual harassment charges, but denies misconduct

I don't think Franken will be coming back, and now we may never see the Al Franken Decade.
Like @YmirGF said, flush em out. Franken was my flavor of politician but if these allegations are true, good riddance.

Yep, Tweeden would have been called a "Bimbo eruption" by Hillary, if this happened to Bill during his time in office. She was on that USO tour probably more for her appearances in FHM, Playboy and her work as a lingerie and bikini model than anything else. That sort of woman used to be easy prey for abusers. That does not appear to be the case today. Kudos to Tweeden for speaking up.

Republicans can be quick to excuse their own with a tu quoque. I suspect Franken's resignation is a strategic move to head this off.
News this morning reports him denying some of the accusations. I wouldn't put it past certain political interests to manufacture offenses.
We'll see.
