Religions Vs Personal Religion

Why do folks take it personal; when you're speaking about a thing that doesn't personally belong to them. Like the idea of clothing. If I were to discuss a sweater, shirt, blouse, and how it functions, then why does it become personally about their blouse, shirt, tank top, et al? is the form more important, or the appearance, than the function it provides?

Is it harder for some to understand and realize that an apparel's function isn't exclusive to their culture; unless their motive is to appear different as a function?

You don't believe one's religion is inherently personal?

IMO

i know there are those whose beliefs function to be divisive, different and are in competition for something. you can't profit from what you can't control. how a thing functions is more important than its form. a thing that looks good isn't necessarily functioning for the good of all, sometimes fleetingly for the individual. service comes in many forms, some forms are shallow and only surface mirroring, ie psychopathic and/or narcissistic. some are inherently as deep as the root of mind.

so i believe inherently a person's belief system reflects their function.

i enjoy diversity, spectrums, and forms and the myriad ways they can represent love, compassion, and connectedness of seemingly shallow differences. But when they become narcissistic, they become anti-social and destructive of anything that doesn't look like them but strangely enough acts like them.

It's the same for anything really, any ideology, science, the color of the sky. If you insult the thing that is not personally theirs they will get upset. I had a person get upset with me here years ago because I said that "science was my b****h, because it's just a tool I use, nothing more nothing less". The salt was strong with that one!
