There are federal subsidies for growing corn to be turned into ethanol that are involved. I'm not sure how much of a factor that is, but it does exist.

Yet it holds little in the way of nutrition and cannot even be made into Beer. Unlike bread which can be quite Nutritious.
I agree and most of the corn grown now is genetically modified. High fructose corn syrup is a very unhealthy ingredient in hundreds, if not thousands of products.

A few years back we had the same experience. I found it sad ... nothing of much benefit ... sugar, livestock food, ethanol.

Quite the waste of valuable land, in my opinion. Look at some of the alternatives ... soy, other grains, vegetables, fruit, lentils, solar farms, wind farms. It seemed to me that is was a microcosm for much of what is wrong with the planet.

Corn tortillas rule, especially freshly made ones!

Many many things go well with corn tortillas.
I think fish, pork, & beef go best.
But I'm still conducting experiments.
What happened? Are you finally over the evangelical like bacon tirades?

Not much for cornmeal here, once I heard corn called pig food, not fit for human consumption. Apparently the nutritional component is about the same as sawdust. Field of Dreams was still a good show. Can't go that far.

Wheat may be better overall, but corn is hardly worthless or nutritionless.

You have not lived yet unless you have tasted a sip of corn juice, and corn flour makes excellent breads.

In the interest of brevity, I included bacon & ham under the "pork" heading.
Corn beats other staples, eg, rice, millet.
And of course, corn on the cob rules!
