Buddhist celebrate full and new moon in May because those are when The Buddha was born, was enlightened, and died. It's common for many to go to the temple during full moon each month I notice to individually renew our vows and pray. I can't do it often but that's what I'm told in a nutshell.

Useful? As an agronomist and soil scientist I find that the ancient people plant more on the cycles of climate and weather in their particular region, and not phases of the moon. The phases of the moon coincidently fall in the spring planting and fall harvesting seasons and cycles.

Well I am not a farmer. So it's only useful as an excuse to be a kid for a month. Playing tricks on people, candy, and scary movies. It's a nice release from the seriousness of adulthood.

Its good but you can do that without religion

Paganism is not the sole owner of knowledge for when to plant and harvest. Other cultures figured that out as well, so it's not like it's a grand revelation. It also can be used without being a pagan.

I agree but they built their beliefs around it
