Revelation 17
17Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and said to me, ‘Come, I will show you the judgement of the great whore who is seated on many waters, 2with whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and with the wine of whose fornication the inhabitants of the earth have become drunk.’ 3

So he carried me away in the spirit* into a wilderness, and I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast that was full of blasphemous names, and it had seven heads and ten horns. 4The woman was clothed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and jewels and pearls, holding in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the impurities of her fornication; 5and on her forehead was written a name, a mystery: ‘Babylon the great, mother of whores and of earth’s abominations.’ 6
And I saw that the woman was drunk with the blood of the saints and the blood of the witnesses to Jesus.

When I saw her, I was greatly amazed.7But the angel said to me, ‘Why are you so amazed? I will tell you the mystery of the woman, and of the beast with seven heads and ten horns that carries her. 8The beast that you saw was, and is not, and is about to ascend from the bottomless pit and go to destruction.
And the inhabitants of the earth, whose names have not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, will be amazed when they see the beast, because it was and is not and is to come.

9 ‘This calls for a mind that has wisdom: the seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman is seated; also, they are seven kings, 10of whom five have fallen, one is living, and the other has not yet come; and when he comes, he must remain for only a little while. 11As for the beast that was and is not, it is an eighth but it belongs to the seven, and it goes to destruction. 12

And the ten horns that you saw are ten kings who have not yet received a kingdom, but they are to receive authority as kings for one hour, together with the beast. 13These are united in yielding their power and authority to the beast; 14they will make war on the Lamb, and the Lamb will conquer them, for he is Lord of lords and King of kings, and those with him are called and chosen and faithful.’

15 And he said to me, ‘The waters that you saw, where the whore is seated, are peoples and multitudes and nations and languages. 16And the ten horns that you saw, they and the beast will hate the whore; they will make her desolate and naked; they will devour her flesh and burn her up with fire. 17

For God has put it into their hearts to carry out his purpose by agreeing to give their kingdom to the beast, until the words of God will be fulfilled. 18The woman you saw is the great city that rules over the kings of the earth.’

I find scriptures like these very frustrating, not only because they're so judgemental and condemning, but because God purposely chooses to be so unclear, so that good people will be more confused.

There is so much end time hysteria and confusion about scripture, and people who come to opposite conclusions about the same text because it's so unclear.

It sickens me that God wants us to be so confused and refuses to speak clearly so that people can know what he's saying.

I pray without ceasing for understanding and God refuses to give it to me... The more I read the Bible, the more confused I become.

If God didn't want people to be confused, why didn't he just give clear instructions about who the man of lawlessness is, instead of all this vague symbolism that doesn't make sense.

So many people in history have been accused of being the Antichrist... So many people thought they saw the signs that they were living in the final hour... So many people that pray and pray to God for wisdom and understanding are so mistaken it's disgusting.

Instead of describing a woman on a beast with seven heads, he could speak clearly and tell us what's really going on.

Oh yes, and God left the clue about Seven Hills... Whoopty Doo a lot of nations claim to be built on Seven Hills.

God is clearly asking for people to be confused, and he's asking for people to go the way of the Antichrist. By leaving us in confusion and refusing to speak clearly, he's asking for it.

God must really love the Antichrist, because according to end time hysteria, God is going to essentially hand the entire world over to him, and when God chose to warn us about him in scripture, God purposely chose to be extremely vague, extremely symbolic, and extremely unclear.

By giving us instructions that no one can understand, God clearly wants us to be confused...

God is clearly playing games. He clearly wants the devil to be deceiving people. I don't know why this is so hard for people to understand.

It's so obvious yet people insist God doesn't want it... If God doesn't want people to be deceived, then why does he not restrain the devil, why doesn't he give people understanding, why does he speak so unclearly, and why don't all people who seek find the truth?... It's cuz God wants people to be confused, duh!

The more I read scripture the more I can see God is seriously asking for it!

I can tell God really favors the Antichrist , because not only is he handing the world over to him, but he's giving the Antichrist the power to deceive the elect... And when it was time for God to warn people about the Antichrist, he chose to speak in extremely confusing symbolic language.

God must really love Satan and the Antichrist! He's making their job very easy!

I don't even begin to understand 98% of Revelation but from my perspective God does not favor the forces of darkness which some call the antiChrist or devil, but those forces are allowed to exist to test and prove the evolutionary forces of light.

Hence we have a President who represents regressive animal man who lies and exalts selfishness, pride, lust, greed and anger and who tempts some to sell their soul, as it were (Mark 8:36), for worldly gain (Presidential decisions they like).

!

Yes, Revelation can be confusing in many areas.

BUT... :D

Think about this... John is trying to paint a picture of what he is seeing with the vocabulary of 100 AD.

Tell me how you would describe a helicopter that shoots missiles and has machine gun mounted... with words of his time.

I certainly would not describe it as a woman who sits on a beast with 7 heads

LOL I wasn't trying to say it was a heicopter... I'm just saying that it is no easy feat to express what you see today within the context of 2000 years ago... thus his need to use words that he knew..

But as you said, Revelation is a tough read.

Why not start on somethimg simple that everyone can understand? Like "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God."?

Because so many people misinterpret the book of Revelation. It should have been clear speech. What does a woman who rides The Leopard with seven heads tell anybody... It's extremely confusing. A lot of people think they have the answers and they don't

That is true... many people speak on something they know nothing at all about.

I'm not saying I know the answer... what I can say is that the Leopard was understood to be the Greecian armies (Alexander the Great) in the book of Daniel and that many people think it is interpreted the same in reference to the antichrist in his speed to take control of the world

Kind of had to laugh when I read this. I dropped Revelations years ago as it is not a "gospel" message of spirit, but one of fear used by catholic ideology to maintain their puppet master over the flesh (and mind). Gnosis tells us that prophesies of oracles ended with John the Baptist.

Then I questioned him: "Lord how may we prophesy to those who ask us to prophesy to them? For there are many who ask us and who look to us to hear an oracle from us."
The Lord answered and said: "Do you not know that the head of prophecy was cut off with John?"
And I said: "Lord, it is not possible to remove the head of prophecy, is it?"
The Lord said to me: "When you come to know what 'head' is, and that prophecy issues from the head, then understand what is the meaning of 'Its head was removed'. I first spoke with you in parables, and you did not understand. Now, in turn, I speak with you openly, and you do not perceive. But it is you who were to me a parable in parables and what is apparent in what are open.- Apocryphon of James

If prophesy had still existed, Paul would have used repeatedly, as he said it was a gift. There are prophets and there are prophets. Don't become confused. The one teaching truth is a prophet. Then there are false prophets. The Spirit reveals both.

No, instead Satan is asking you to shake people's faith in public forums such that he can accuse you of soul murdering on the judgment day.
Thank you for that. But my goal was never to shake anyone's faith. If God would show me how to strengthen people's faith, that is what I would want to do. I feel God chose to shake everyone's faith when he gave them a book that was so confusing, people study it all their lives and come to opposite conclusions.

I just want God to give people some clarity and understanding, and then I'll stop complaining. I don't feel like I've asked too much.

I like your thinking. Gnosis teaches that confusion is the devils tool. To understand the spirit of error and ignorance, one must have the knowledge of who and what error and ignorance is.

The catholic (small c) ideology, hid the knowledge so man would follow them. The shame is, it worked.

The very knowledge man seeks is kept from him by men wanting to control him.

Gospel of Thomas:
(39) Jesus said, "The pharisees and the scribes have taken the keys of knowledge (gnosis) and hidden them. They themselves have not entered, nor have they allowed to enter those who wish to. You, however, be as wise as serpents and as innocent as doves."

The OT priests wanted to destroy anyone who took their control. The catholics returned to the same thinking.

The "liar and murderer" created the wide path people fight for, thinking they are doing the will of God.

The catholics murdered the Christian gnostics physically, but not before the Christians murdered themselves of the understandings in carnal flesh first.

Matthew:
And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

The catholics feared the gnostics, but the gnostics never feared the catholics.

The gnostics understood. And like Jesus still loved as they died.

1 John 4:
18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

God is not asking no one to be confused and follow the Antichrist.

That's People's decision, who they will follow. God has laid everything out in the book of Revelation, So now it's people's decision who they will follow.

No more than if you gave people a road map to follow, and people didn't follow your road map and followed the wrong way.

So who's at fault you or the people for not following your road map ?

The first group of Israelits complained... and it wasn't because it wasn't clear.

To ask means to be open for learning. I've yet to see that manifested in your postings.

Two fellow Jews and I were called "anti-christs" by a security guard where we taught. He was fired, and we were a bit afraid that this guy, who had interests in right-wing militia groups, might come in some day and take revenge a losing his job. We found out several months later he moved to Idaho and joined one of the militia groups there.

No joke.

He sunk himself though as he denied saying this, but he happened to say something to another staff member that tipped off to the administration that his denials were a lie. We were asked by the administration if we wanted to prosecute him through filing a charge through the police, but we turned that down on the basis that he would just be let go.
