WWMRD?
Of course there are a lot more important things going on in the world but I found this interesting mainly because I have a strong interest in old weapons and I can't think of anytime I have ever read a headline where an atlatl was mentioned much less someone killing a deer with one. I sometimes hunt with a primitive self bow myself but it almost seems like cheating compared to the skill I imagine it would take to master one of these things and be capable of "making meat" with it. I don't understand the sexist comments toward her but I guess there always has to be a few jerks around, probably from the jealous who can't throw their spears around very well. It doesn't mention it in this article but she did have to track it for a couple of days after it bolted, apparently a neighbour found it while horseback riding and found that coyotes had gotten to some of it- it happens sometimes even with modern rifles. Overall it seems she has found throwing an atlatl to be a very rewarding hobby and the skill and concentration (a form of meditation?) it demands has helped her in her personal life, so good for her.
