Who supports religious evangelism?

Pat Robertson, ugh. He is such a cold, manipulative bigot. Who makes way too much money off of preaching ''the word of God.'' Never liked him. Joel Osteen is another one who is utterly fake and way too wealthy to be taken seriously as a representative of Jesus.

Jesus was a modest, humble relatively poor man (financially) yet these dudes are living like kings preaching about Jesus. You'll know them by their fruit, Jesus said...clearly, we can see that play out here with some of these charlatans.

I agree. There are way too many of these types of "evangelists" making ungodly (pardon the pun) amounts of money off religion. Take away the money and see how many of these people continue to teach what they do. I predict that the Benny Hinn's and the Kenneth Copeland's would quickly move to a more profitable scam to fleece the gullible.

Not to mention that Jesus was about helping the poor and healing the sick, not robbing them of what little they had as these televangelist do.

It's funny how he mentions disrespect of the president when he did just that when Obama was in office.

And it would be rather ironic if the shooting was punishment from god, considering that the target was a country music festival, so odds are that most of the victims wouldn't have been guilty of the any of the things Robertson is complaining about.

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
Pat Robertson has to be one of the most outspoken evangelists.

In the aftermath of the Vegas tragedy, Robertson has this to say:

“Why is it happening?” Robertson asked his audience. “The fact that we have disrespect for authority; there is profound disrespect for our president, all across this nation they say terrible things about him. It’s in the news, it’s in other places. There is disrespect now for our national anthem, disrespect for our veterans, disrespect for the institutions of our government, disrespect for the court system. All the way up and down the line, disrespect.”

Does anyone here agree with him? I personally cannot think of a reasonable person who would.
Pat Roberson is way off topic.

A very disconnected man.

And that, is being very generous and kind. I'm thinking more along the lines of religiously induced psychosis.
Very well then. His mind has become increasingly simple in function the deeper the tendrils of his psychosis spread into and choke out what few reasoning centers of his mind he started with, to the point now that all that comes out sounds like the prattling of a heavily intoxicated chimpanzee who periodically attempts to speak while vomiting. There, is that better? ;)

Most if not all people do not know this, but Christ Jesus is against evangelism.
...as well as being in favour of evangelism:

Matthew 28:19-20:
19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,20 teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

The Bible: it has something for everyone!

I like interfaith discussion better. If that's evangelism I guess I'm for it. Pat Robertson's above quote really doesn't even seem to touch on converting people.

The only problem with Matthew 28:19-20.
Is that Christ Jesus commanded to go out and teach, what he teach.

Which alot of Christians do not do.
They go out teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

Unto which Christ Jesus condemn the teachings and doctrines of men.

Matthew 15:7-9.
"You hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying, this people draweth near unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips: but their heart is far from me. But in vain they do worship me, teaching four doctrines the Commandments of men"

There are many things that people are being taught that is not what Christ Jesus teach.
These being man's teachings and doctrines.
That Christ Jesus is against.

Therefore to send people out to evangelize other people to what they have been taught by man's teachings and doctrines, make people twofold more the child of hell than themselves.

Therefore do they teach what Christ Jesus taught?
Or are they teaching for doctrines the Commandments of men?

Most if not all people do not know this, but Christ Jesus is against evangelism.

Matthew 23:15--"Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, you make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves"

According to the Greek translation 4339, of the Strong's Concordance.
Proselyte means = Convert.
Who else goes out to convert people, if not evangelism people.

Therefore as you can read, Christ Jesus is against those who convert people and make them twofold more of a child of hell than themselves.

Those that convert people, are they teaching truth of God's word or man's teachings and doctrines of falsehoods and fables?

How were the Apostles supposed to fulfill Jesus' commandment in Matthew 28:19-20?

19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

I guess we're supposed to post leaflets?

Why assume such things. He could well be a sleek professional who speaks exactly what his audience wants to hear.
That is true, like any good con-man knows his base supporters and talks to them. Even if it's gobbledygook to the rest of us, those that grok gobbledygook will remain impressed as he gleefully lifts their wallets from their pockets. Sounds like he could be the next POTUS. Imagine that thought. It could be Pat "hurricane" Robertson next.

Look when Christ Jesus commanded the disciples to go out and teach, Christ Jesus plainly told them to teach what he teach them. Not to go and not teach whatever they wanted of themselves.

But to teach what Jesus teach them.
A big difference.

Alot Christians teach what they were teach by man's teachings and doctrines and not what Jesus teach.

Note in Matthew 28:20--"Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you"

Note that Jesus did not say to teach them what ever you want to, No

Jesus said to teaching them
To observe all things
Whatsoever I have commanded you.

Do you get the picture

We are not to go out teaching them, man's teachings and doctrines.

But to teach them what Jesus has teach.

You miss the point. How are we supposed to do that if we don't evangelize?
