Who supports religious evangelism?

Mister Silver

Faith's Nightmare
Pat Robertson has to be one of the most outspoken evangelists.

In the aftermath of the Vegas tragedy, Robertson has this to say:

“Why is it happening?” Robertson asked his audience. “The fact that we have disrespect for authority; there is profound disrespect for our president, all across this nation they say terrible things about him. It’s in the news, it’s in other places. There is disrespect now for our national anthem, disrespect for our veterans, disrespect for the institutions of our government, disrespect for the court system. All the way up and down the line, disrespect.”

Does anyone here agree with him? I personally cannot think of a reasonable person who would.

He has a very, simple mind.

Most if not all people do not know this, but Christ Jesus is against evangelism.

Matthew 23:15--"Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, you make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves"

According to the Greek translation 4339, of the Strong's Concordance.
Proselyte means = Convert.
Who else goes out to convert people, if not evangelism people.

Therefore as you can read, Christ Jesus is against those who convert people and make them twofold more of a child of hell than themselves.

Those that convert people, are they teaching truth of God's word or man's teachings and doctrines of falsehoods and fables?

There has been no motive found for the shooting, so it's jumping the shark to assume that it's from some manner of disrespect. And also knowing Pat, his assumption climaxes at disrespect of god. So yeah, I disagree with him.

Well, let me see - I have little respect for the Bible and almost none for political office holders generally and most national anthems are dreadful - especially the one for my own beloved Disunited Queendom in which we ceremoniously invoke the divine protection of a non-existent deity in favour of a monarch we neither want nor respect - and yet despite all these clear warning signs I have managed for more than half a century to suppress the apparently inevitable resulting urge to unload the contents of several AK-47 cartridges into a crowd of complete strangers.

On the other hand, I certainly agree about the profound disrespect for the President thing - I have noticed that too - and, to be honest, I think its all well-deserved Mr Trump. But I have to confess, I love old Pat in a weird way - he has almost single-handedly converted TV evangelism from the cynical Bible-bashing money-spinning scam it once was into a comical manifestation of senile silly-old-fartism that is at one and the same time kind of quaint (in an ancient-aunt-with-Alzheimers manner) and profoundly sickening (in a my-God-do-people-really-watch-this-stuff-let-alone-believe-it kind of way).

The thread's title is dishonest (unless of course, you're so ill-informed and so biased as to equate evangelism with Pat Robertson).

I didn't even realize that Pat Robertson was still alive.

But I don't agree with his assessment of why this event happened. In the final analysis, only one person knows why the shooter did what he did, and he's dead now, so he won't be able to tell us.

Robertson may be partially correct in terms of addressing disrespect in society, but that doesn't mean it has anything to do with this incident.

I only know of Pat Robertson in the context of "that crazy guy" so I doubt I would agree with him often.
There's maybe twice I've agreed with him. Once when he said we just need to legalize pot, and again when he said there is no greater fool in the history of human folly than a clergyman in politics (though that was extremely hypocritical of him to say so as he had a presidential bid in '88 and has had his fingers involved in politics).

Well even a broken clock is right twice a day, I suppose.

Pat Robertson, ugh. He is such a cold, manipulative bigot. Who makes way too much money off of preaching ''the word of God.'' Never liked him. Joel Osteen is another one who is utterly fake and way too wealthy to be taken seriously as a representative of Jesus.

Jesus was a modest, humble relatively poor man (financially) yet these dudes are living like kings preaching about Jesus. You'll know them by their fruit, Jesus said...clearly, we can see that play out here with some of these charlatans.

I do agree that disrespectful behavior is an issue. The problem is he is very selectively outraged. When people were disrespecting President Obama and further back Clinton, Pat Robertson didn't have much to say about that.

No, but then again he think he can tell if someone viewing the program needs saving as well. His type do a disservice to Christianity. He probably has good intentions, but "the path to hell is paved with good intentions".

I'm not going to waste my time commenting on Pat Robertson. Oops, I just did.
