RF is a pretty busy forum by most standards. That said, when a new topic is posted, it generally has a page or two of responses, depending on the amount of time you are able to spend on the forum.

So assuming you're not just a lurker, how do you respond to threads? Do you read the OP and respond to that, then read the rest of the thread? Do you read the OP and the entire thread prior to responding?

Which practice do you think is better? Why?

Points deducted for no "naked" option.
It tends to depend. Such as, if a thread has several pages, I'll read the first and last few pages. After that, as long as a thread hasn't exploded in length, I'll read/respond to posts responding to my last, and then read/post from my last post down.

Do I get my points back now, Wolf?

Depends on how interesting the thread is, and what kind of thread it is. If it's just something asking for people's POV, I post mine and then go back and read others'. If it's an interesting debate, I read through the whole thing (as long as it isn't more than like 5 pages long or some nonsense). If it's one of those debates where I've seen it ten thousand times before, I pick the post(s) that I want to debate the most and just respond to that.

It depends. I usually read the OP and skim a few of the responses before responding myself.

Each day, I look at the threads and see what, if anything, was posted. I skim through to see if there is anything I want to respond to.

Some days I have more free time and I read more before responding.

I will read the OP and usually reply, sometimes I read through the thread first. I usually post then read through, though. Which isn't always a good idea, because someone might have said the same thing as you, or you get an update from the OP, and then your post is moot.

It depends on how many posts have been made, but generally I would read the entire thread before responding.

I also don't have much of a pattern. I do lean more toward the OP if there's been thread drift.

I voted for "I tend to just skip over SalixIncendium's threads and posts entirely." But I was just joking.

I concentrate just as much on who is posting as to content of the posts. I know some are more open to dialogue with a serious Christian than others. And then there are the haters.

I usually read and skim before. If its ridiculously long then I only read the first few pages sometimes, because that is usually a good summary of the rest.

I honestly don't know.

Where is the "I hope I delete this post before I pass out" option?

Or...."How can I avoid the image of a cat violating a cardboard box" option?
