A state of emergency has been declared by the governor of Virginia, Terry McAuliffe, in Charlottesville, Virginia following clashes between protesters and counter-protesters at the "Unite the Right" rally in emancipation park. As of 12:30 pm (local time) it is reported that eight people have been hurt and there has been one arrest. Emancipation Park was chosen as the location for the White Nationalist rally of at least 6,000 people because of the 20 ft statue of Confederate General Robert E Lee.

Clashes had already occurred on Friday in University of Virginia's Campus, and on Saturday, at the park itself and despite police efforts to keep the two groups apart, the Police declared an unlawful assembly alert. The Virginia national guard “will closely monitor the situation and will be able to rapidly respond and provide additional assistance if needed.”

President Trump tweeted: "We ALL must be united & condemn all that hate stands for. There is no place for this kind of violence in America. Lets come together as one!"

When it comes to flags, my flag is the United States flag. not the flag of those who hate everything good about America

I feel like I'm getting physical wounds every time I read the YouTube or Facebook comments about this.
Peace for those injured and for the families of those killed.

To be honest, both sides were acting like fools in the footage I saw. Both sides were macing each other, throwing stuff and picking fights. Personally I don't like the BLM types, either. They're nasty people and racial agitators, too, many times. So both sides share plenty of the blame here. Dr. King would be ashamed.

I'm watching (and mentally bleeding) a horror show unfold on Reddit and Twitter where blame association is heavily underway about the driver of the vehicle.
First this arose: The Life of Harmo on Twitter
Then the framed kid posted live from his Facebook (there's some profanity so I won't link the picture here.) From Michigan, not a jail cell, that he owns a Chevy impala, not a dodge challenger.
But none of the tweets have yet been taken down, and instead there is a bunch of doubling down, feeding into this new conspiracy #soros #antifa
It's... this is a thing.

^^^^ this

Both the alt right people AND the antifa/BLM people present there did stupid things and escalated the provocation and violence there.
The people there, for the large majority of them, are two extreme sides. Extreme left is no better than extreme right in term of complete hopeless stupidity.

This is really a shame

This needs to make a very clear unambigous statement in condemnation of white supremacy and white nationalism. And he needs to make that statement very soon.
He hasn't done it thus far even when he was asked. He was so much on Obama's case when Obama wouldn't use the magic words "radical Islam", but now he has not said anything about maybe the "radical right", nor has he denounced any right-wing element. Why?

Well, since he has a racist past (anti-black and anti-Mexican-- remember the judge), and since he has three racists on his close staff, including Bannon, and since he was and is strongly supported by right-wing hate groups, he has thus far refused to denounce the white supremacists, much like he refuses to blame Putin for much of anything.

He knows what his base at least partially consists of.

Isn't it lovely how a lot of conservatives dismiss any events that shine unfavorably upon them as some sort convulsed conspiracy

Yeah, events or incidents that cast a bad light on conservatives are routinely dismissed as a "false flag" conspiracies. No surprise there.
