Have you ever thought of the Chosen People and the Promised Land?

Hi Brethren,
Abram = Adam, Sarah = Eve and the Promised Land = Garden of Eden living in the company of?

Unlike faithful Abraham (Abram) and unfaithful Adam, unlike faithful Sarah and unfaithful Eve, Unfaithful Adam and Eve lost the promised land ( to live forever on Earth )starting in a beautiful paradisical Garden of Eden.
Whereas with faithful Abraham and faithful Sarah God promised through them the Earth becoming a Promised Land ( a land meaning an Earth flowing with milk and honey ). Mankind will see the return of the Genesis ' tree of life ' on Earth for the 'healing' of earth's nations as promised at Genesis 12:3; Genesis 22:18; Revelation 22:2.

If everyone is descended from Adam, then shouldn't everyone be the chosen people?

I agree with the ^ above^, and I find that 1 John 1:7 shows Jesus did die for everyone descended from father Adam and mother Eve ( that's us). However, because some will end up rejecting Jesus (Hebrews 6:4-6; Matthew 12:32) is why Matthew 20:28 says that Jesus' ransom (his life for us) covers MANY and does Not say all.

What about the people living between Adam & Jesus, Why didn't God hang himself on the tree of good & evil in Eden instead of waiting 4000 years?

It was not just talking about the Earth as a whole, but to a specific region, the land of Canaan ( Gen 12:5) , for these 'special chosen people' to live in that region, those Canaanite people had to be evicted and till this day, Canaanite-Philistine people are still being evicted. ( crime, born in the wrong place syndrome)

Hi Brethren,

Yes....in the company of their children and under the direct command and authority of their Sovereign Creator.......with free access to the tree of life, guaranteeing that they would live forever if they obeyed just one rule. (Genesis 3:22-24)......everything in the Bible is pictorial.

Until the devil derailed God's original purpose by lying to the woman, everything was looking "very good" for the future of mankind.

Abraham being asked to sacrifice his only son, was pictorial of God sacrificing his precious only begotten son. And the willingness of Isaac to be sacrificed because it was the will of his father is also significant.

The Promised Land is pictorial of the "new earth" that Jesus said the meek would inherit. (2 Peter 3:13; Matthew 5:5)

Understanding what the big picture is, helps you make sense of everything.

I agree.

The "promished land" is a concept which stems from the Creation Story (of which there are numerous cultural tellings besides the biblical one) but it is misused as an religious and political excuse for overtaking land which belongs to other cultures.

The mythical telling of "Eden" really counts for ALL human beings and the creation of everything in the ancient known world picture, and this is made by the same divine forces for ALL human beings, no matter what these deities are named in different cultures.

First of all, I can't find where there is a scriptural teaching about God hanging himself .
It was His Son Jesus who was 'hung on a tree' according to Acts of the Apostles 5:30; Acts of the Apostles 10:39.

The promised ' seed ' (Messiah) could come at any time after the words of Genesis 3:15 were spoken.
Remember that God's purpose is that Earth be populated. So, Earth would have to be populated before we see the coming 'time of separation' on Earth as mentioned at Matthew 25:31-33,37.
So, in other words, Jesus could appear on Earth at any time, but still people would continue to be born and have the opportunity to think who they would like as Sovereign over them.

I find at John 3:13 the people living between Adam's son Abel and Jesus will have a happy-and-healthy physical resurrection back to life on Earth starting when Jesus' coming 1,000-year governmental rule over Earth begins.
That is why such people, even like King David, did Not ascent to heaven according to Acts of the Apostles 2:34.
That is also why the ' future tense' is used at Acts of the Apostles 24:15 that there 'is going to be' a resurrection.....

If you were granted a house, but it took you many years before you could occupy it, does that mean the house is Not yours. We might Not have all the details about that 'land flowing with milk and honey' that belonged to the Israelites, but that land (house) was theirs. I think we can trust that under Messiah's coming 1,000-year governmental rule over Earth that all things will be taken care of because as Revelation 22:2 says there will be 'healing' for earth's nations.

Nope. Just reread most of Genesis. The garden was forbidden to Adam after he sinned. The promised land was given to the descendants of Abraham because of his faith. The two stories are totally unrelated.

If Canaan belonged to Israelis then where do the Canaanites belong?

Where these 'Israelis' self-hating Canaanites, ethnically, they are Canaanites with a Canaanite language worshipping Canaanite deities ( El & Yahweh), Israeli archaeologically is unable to distinguish 'Canaanite' with 'Israelite' and there was never an ethnically distinct “Canaanite” population that the “Israelites” displaced.

Zionism is an invalid claim.

To me, the ' promised land ' concept, although misused, does Not mean the promised-land concept is Not real.
The edenic paradisical-garden concept was meant as a sample of what all of Earth will be like.
God's promise to father Abraham that ALL families, and ALL nations of Earth will be blessed, blessed with the benefit of ' healing ' for earth's nations is coming according to Revelation 22:2 in connection to Genesis 12:3; Genesis 22:18.

You might want to reread the history. I strongly recommend it.

Abraham came from Ur. His male descendants Isaac & Jacob did not even take a wife from the Canaanites. The Israelites displaced all the people in the promised land. The Israelites were/are not Canaanites. One reason why the countries around Israel hate Israelites is because the Israelites took the land of Israel from them.

The 'promised land' to me was a national covenant or constitutional contract with Moses as mediator.
According to Exodus 23:29-30 it says the Canaanites would be driven out (possibly displaced) ' little by little '.
Please also see Joshua 17:18 and Deuteronomy 7:22; Deuteronomy 8

If Abraham came from Ur, why does Gen 14:13 ethnically identify Abraham as a Hebrew , which means 'People from the Eber Nari', that is 'Canaan' The ethnicity of the Hebrews is described in Ezekiel

Ezekiel 16:3
And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD unto Jerusalem; Thy birth and thy nativity is of the land of Canaan; thy father was an Amorite, and thy mother an Hittite.

Genesis 10:15 - Amorite and Hittite are sons of Canaan.
